S3 E5 - The invisible layers of neurodivergence (ADHD in this case) & how to move through the challenges with compassion for yourself
Jun 14, 2024 Season 3 Episode 5
Charis & Emily

We all have our ‘stuff’ we have to manage on a day to day basis, be it emotional, mental or physical health issues.

And sometimes there are additional, often invisible layers, that impact all areas.

Dealing with neurodivergence is one of those invisible layers that creates extra challenges for existing in a society that struggles to support anyone who sits outside the status quo box.

With the recent surge in ADHD/ADD diagnosis for women already well into adulthood, many people are reassessing what works for them and what doesn’t. Also how to find a way forward that’s both hopeful, but doesn’t dismiss the real challenges that exist.

I (Charis) have found myself on this very journey. After years of wondering, I’ve recently been diagnosed with AD(H)D.

In this episode I share what the experience has been like for me, some of the challenges I’ve had to navigate, and importantly how I’m moving forward, learning to cultivate compassion for myself and choosing to focus on creating a lifestyle that I can expand and grow in.

Book reference: Scattered Minds - Dr. Gabor Maté
