Marcus Hutton
Marcus trained as an actor at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has 40 years of industry experience as an actor in theatre, TV, film and commercials , as a voice artist for 30 years with extensive credits , as a commercial video/audio producer and director and as a campaigner for performers’ rights in the UK. A self-described performing arts generalist, he has built up knowledge of contractual and rights issues via direct experience of both good and bad working practices. Marcus is also Chair of the Audio Committee of the British performers’ union, Equity and has presented a number of industry focussed seminars on performer’s contracts, AI development and ethics in entertainment and on UK and international copyright/performers’ rights legislation to industry groups, academics and other unions. Having joined Equity in 1985 when it was still a closed shop, he has observed the changes in UK union legislation and union practices since then (often with dismay).
