Raquel Quinet:

It is about progress, not perfection, they say, right? And when you have all those small wins along the way, it actually makes a difference. It actually helps you keep winning. And when you can look back, You can actually see the progress over time, maybe day in and day out or hour by hour. When you're making those calls, you may not see this next sale. You may not see the next client, but if you stick with it and you make progress. Over time, it all compounds So the question is, how do entrepreneurs, thought leaders, and experts scale to create a massive business all while having fun and impacting lives? Welcome to the Raquel show. I'm your host, Raquel Quinette, business coach, real estate entrepreneur, investor, wife, and sports mom. This podcast will give you real quick tips, strategies, tools, and inspire you to help you play bigger in business and in life. Are you ready? Let's grow to the next level. welcome to the Raquel show where we talk about playing bigger in business and in life. And I just want to say thank you all for listening to our show. And if you get anything from today's episode, do me a favor and share it with a friend. Have you ever heard the words, trust the process? I actually have heard it from different people. And I've heard it multiple times from my coaches for many different reasons. And it's probably at a time where I want to move fast. I want to get results quicker and I want to change systems, but I'm not getting the output that I want. How many of you guys have ever been in a spot in your business where you wanted quick results or you felt like things were not working or they just flat out were just not hitting? You see, most people will give up. on their goals before it actually hits. Most people will give up on the thing before it really hits. And we're just a few steps away. And I'm reminded of this saying, especially now as my oldest son, Bryce is getting offers and we're going through recruiting calls. We're for college to live out his dream of playing division one basketball. And trust me, when I tell you I'm learning all the things because I didn't even know that playing division one is less than 1 percent of kids will even get a shot at it. And what most people see today on social media is the offers that he's getting, but what they didn't see are the challenges he faced during the journey, like practices, losses, traveling, delays, training, going to camps, and competing to be on the best team in the state. And matter of fact, someone actually told him a few years ago that he could never play division one because of his nationality, maybe division two because he was already at a disadvantage. And what people don't also see, they see. are the moments where he had to deal with adversity. There was this one time where he got a new coach for his club team and didn't even step on the court in a 40 minute game after always playing on the teams and even starting because the coach didn't like his father. And it was definitely one of the most saddest moments I got to witness as a parent, and as much as I wanted to say a lot of things to that coach after that game, we walked out of there with grace, had lunch, and I let him sit in his emotions. The reason why I share a story like this is I could still remember the moments and I'm getting choked up as I'm talking about this is I still remember the moments that he thought he wasn't going to play basketball or where things got really hard and things weren't going right for him and I'm just not that mom So I'm not that mom that's going to say, you didn't get playing time. I'm going to go talk to your coach. You didn't get playing time. Go get better, right? Because that's what we deal with in life. And how often do we As business owners, as entrepreneurs want to accomplish the goal or make a certain amount of money in our business and make that new revenue goal or make more money in life, but we're barely willing to do the standard or maintaining the standard of what it actually could take. And when you want to be elite or go to the next level, you have to be willing to deal with the highs and the lows. I often get asked, I want so and so's business, but are you willing to deal with the expenses? Are you willing to deal with the headaches that they go through every day? Because what you see on social media is all the highs. What they forget to tell you, they're all the lows. And thankfully, during this process, thankfully Bryce kept going. Still even today with actually no guarantee until he signs and commits and gets registered for his college. And even at that point, he's still going to have to prove himself that he actually can play as a freshman and be part of this team. And as we are recording this episode, he has eight offers and we just got off a call with Yale University. And what a proud moment for me as a parent, because as I watch this journey, I do believe that there are a few things that we can learn from. So in this episode, I want to share four ways you can actually trust the process, even when you have those doubts, even when you come across challenges that you're facing. Number one is embrace the challenges. It's going to happen in your business. And when things get stacked against you. It is where the character is built. It is where you may go into fight or even flight mode and your old patterns may even show up, but you've got to believe, you have to believe that the challenges are there to prepare you for the next level. So you might as well embrace them. Number two is be obsessed with the progress and the continuous improvement along the journey. It is about progress, not perfection, they say, right? And when you have all those small wins along the way it actually makes a difference. It actually helps you keep winning. And when you can look back, You can actually see the progress over time, maybe day in and day out or hour by hour. When you're making those calls, you may not see this next sale. You may not see the next client, but if you stick with it and you make progress. Over time, it all compounds. And when you ask Bryce about how his season will go, he'll tell you. He focuses at one game at a time. Speaking of focus, number three is stay focus. Is oftentimes we get distracted when things aren't lining up and we go into bright and shiny objects. maybe it's a new thing that we have to install in our business. And I'm reminded. More so this year with my clients to get super clear on why they set the goal in the first place. If you stay focused on the process, eventually. Everything works out. And I find it these day and age, harder and harder to stay focused because of all the crazy distractions, like notifications on Slack, to emails, to social media notifications, to text messages, the list goes on and on. And your mind is constantly fighting through different things that are meant to distract you, matter of fact, a few weeks ago, I told my team to take Friday off. It taught me a few things. One is I probably got the most things done that day and was able to strategize on the business because my Slack message wasn't going off. And it also got to see if things were going to fall apart or where the gaps were in our business or where the systems were going to fall apart. And I got to look at each department, each role of Why does this person exist? Why does this role exist? And are we getting the most out of that role? Another thing that helped me stay focused today with all those crazy distractions is I put timers. I put my phone on do not disturb. I've done it so much this year that it tells me if I'm in these types of working conditions, And I consider myself pretty disciplined. I wonder how my team continues to stay focused on getting their task done quickly, or am I going to start to see productivity diminish over time? Number four is Feedback is such a key factor to growth. This one is super interesting because even as I'm on recruiting calls with Bryce and the colleges, one thing he asks every single school is, what do I need? Or what does he need to do to prepare him for his opportunity at the school? And the coaches are extremely honest. Even being considered as one of the top athletes that has an offer for the college He's looking for improvement. He wants to get ahead of the game and use this summer, use this next year, his senior year to get ahead of what the coaches want. It's probably a question that I'm going to ask moving forward to all of my coaches, because they see things completely different. And the feedback concept is why I have one on one feedback. Meetings with all of my team members. I look for how have they contributed to moving things forward? Do they operate at their highest level? Finally, like even on the staff side, I see where people are actually hungry to learn and advance very quickly in our organization. They don't believe in status quo. And I think it goes a long, long way. Friends. I want to challenge you. When you hear the word, trust the process, think about embracing the challenges, become obsessed with progress, continue to stay focused and look for feedback.
