Raquel Quinet:

When I think about growth and I think about my long relationships I've had in the industry almost All of them have come from an event or a retreat. Events and retreats provide opportunities for you to expand your network, expand your thinking, while also learning, reflecting, and recharging so that you can take bold steps to get to the next level of success. Welcome to the Raquel show. This show is for entrepreneurs who want to play bigger in business and in life. And I just want to say thank you all for hanging out with me today. Thank you for your messages. Thank you for your shares. Thank you for your reviews because it truly helps this podcast going. You see, I have been. traveling nonstop this summer for my kids basketball tournaments and some work stuff and it's given me some space to just kind of stop and think and to be in what we call a gap. The gap from where you are to where you want to be and sometimes it's a little uncomfortable being in the gap especially for a person like me who's a high d. I'm a high driver and I always want results. Fast. And they say the middle is messy and they say the gap is where you break things that are comfortable in order for you to get to the next level. And I kept thinking about this gap because it's in the middle of the year and I haven't really been on full hundred percent miles per hour. into business, I've taken some time to really be with my family, my mom and my kids. And so I consider myself being in this gap and I've had some airport times or times where I have been alone in my hotel and I started to reflect. on my journey of 25 years of being in real estate, being in business for myself, and what actually created longevity? Why am I still here? What's the one thing that got me to constantly grow, still be excited, still be passionate about what I do today? Besides like coaches that have helped me grow, I would have to say, um, Hands down, what has gotten me to be in this business for a really long time to be in entrepreneurship and to be constantly growing is hands down. It's got to be events and retreats. See, conferences, events, and retreats are crucial for your development. And in this episode, I want to dive into four reasons on why I think they're so important to your growth and how they've actually changed my life. Starting with number one is networking opportunities. I later learned this in my career. In the beginning, I would sign up for these events, I'd attend these events, and I would learn all the tactics. I'd take copious notes and learn all the tools. And one thing you may not know about me. is believe it or not, I'm an introvert. And so my natural style to when I go to conferences is to eat lunch in my room or have room service and get work done and then head back to the conference. And at night I would actually study the materials and get a good night rest so that I could be ready for the next morning until one conference. A friend of mine, who was like an older brother to me, who owned one of the biggest Century 21 offices, David, told me I was doing it all wrong. You have to be here to network when you go to events. You need to meet different people. And even if you don't drink, he said, hang out for a bit. There is power in proximity and relationships and that couldn't be any more true. I look back as I'm traveling to different cities. for my kids. And in each one of these cities that I've had a stop, I've had special friends who I met at conferences, who I met at retreats that I'm able to connect with and know for even 10 years, 15 years later, we're still able to keep in touch, connect, still share business ideas, business practices, what's going on in our business. and even with the time that has passed, we still, like I said, keep in touch and we would only have kept in touch or we would have only known each other because of events. See, When you network with people at events or at retreats, I believe it can open new doors. It can open up new opportunities, new collaborations, and new friendships. I often say that your relationships can transform your business and your personal life. Number two is when you go to events and when you go to retreats, there is inspiration and exposure. You get to immerse yourself in a different setting. You get inspired by the people in the room, especially in those rooms where you pay to play. When you meet people and you get exposed, to what is absolutely possible, especially in those small rooms, you gain new perspectives, you get to innovate some new ideas, you get re energized about what your purpose is, and you have so much clarity for your vision. I think when you attend events, there's nothing like being inspired. There's nothing like being exposed to people that are doing different things than you. Number three is it is a great way to learn. You are away from distractions. You're away from your daily routine. You kind of do a pattern interrupt and you are more open to lots of different things, and it's a fantastic way to learn new skills, especially when they've got workshops, they've got teachers, they've got speakers, and they've got hands on activities. I love love the breakouts because you learn in a more focused setting. And number four is the reason why events and retreats are so effective to your growth. It's because there is time to recharge and reflect. And as you're building, and you keep building, We move so fast that we forget to reflect and it's in reflection where we can make adjustments. It's where we can make changes. It's where we can also look at our goals, reassess our priorities, and come back with so much clarity. I'm a big believer that big ideas come from when you're away from your hustle and bustle in your everyday routine. I believe when you're away, especially in a beautiful setting, It allows you for deep thinking and creativity. Sometimes I'll get away, especially when there's water, especially when there's beaches. that's where my creativity comes from. So I believe when you invest in yourself, you bet on you. And when you can get away for an event. or a retreat, you grow. There's always something about being in rooms and being in the right rooms. They can not only just challenge you, but they inspire you to be the very best version of yourself. It's rooms where you find mentors. It's rooms where you find the game changers. It's rooms where you find opportunity. So here's the deal. When I think about growth and I think about my long relationships I've had in the industry almost All of them have come from an event or a retreat. Events and retreats provide opportunities for you to expand your network, expand your thinking, while also learning, reflecting, and recharging so that you can take bold steps to get to the next level of success. There is less than six months in the year left. What events or retreats will you plan to go to? I would take a moment after this episode and just write down whether it's in your notes or write down if you've got a notebook and write down what events do I want to go to and plan for it. It should be part of your growth plan in your business. The investment, I promise you, pays itself back and more. And if you're looking for a retreat and you're a woman, you're not going to want to miss it. our upcoming Elevate Retreat in Aruba. I hope it has inspired you to go book an event or a retreat that you're going to attend in the next couple of months. And if it did, or if you've gotten something out of today's episode, share it with a friend. And until our next episode, keep striving for growth and keep playing bigger.
