Speaker 1:

3 Guys Around the Table.

Speaker 2:

Well, there's 3 of us and there's a table.

Speaker 3:

You've heard of 5 guys. We're not talking burgers and fries here, we're talking 3 guys, a table and the topics of the day that we want to talk about. It can be anything from this to that, or we can talk to this person to that, but guess what? You'll never know what it is until you listen in.

Speaker 2:

So welcome to 3 guys around a table. We have not done an episode in a little bit because Chris, for whatever reason, decided to go on one of his 18 vacations for the year.

Speaker 1:

I don't see how he's employed Steve.

Speaker 2:

No.

Speaker 3:

I mean seriously. Does employment require payment? I miss the point.

Speaker 1:

People talk about the public schools and teachers have a lot of time off. There's nobody that I know has more time off than Chris.

Speaker 3:

I've never seen anything like it. This is so terrible. I mean, the employer is not listening.

Speaker 2:

Well, just for his employer. How do you know when?

Speaker 3:

they're in business. How do you know when they're in business? You could have been doing business. You could have been doing business.

Speaker 2:

Well, kind of business. What are we talking about? Normal business stuff.

Speaker 3:

Oh, normal, yeah you look it up on the internet. Business stuff, that's right. Business, that's right.

Speaker 2:

So we have adapted a little bit with our podcast. We were doing the best of and we'll still continue to do a few of those here and there that sprinkled in. We wanted to just have the opportunity to talk about, you know kind of the news of the day, whatever is on the on the plate. We wanted a chance just to share some fun opinions. So I think Greg's cold, greg's a little chilly. He's covering up with a blankie. He's got his bankie, so and it over there.

Speaker 2:

And Chris has just come back from work or work related trip.

Speaker 1:

It really was a work related trip it really was a work related trip.

Speaker 3:

Yes, it really was, and there was work done on the trip.

Speaker 2:

Okay, fair enough. So, it's the day after the Super Bowl, so I think we should at least reference what a just a crappy game that. That was terrible.

Speaker 1:

I'll go over, I'd be happy that Taylor Swift's boyfriend won. Well, look, no matter what you can say about it, she has brought in significantly more fans to the NFL, significantly more revenue. My daughter, halle, could care less about the Super Bowl until last night. And she was a nervous wreck when San Francisco scored right toward the end and I said don't worry, patrick, my home says too much time they're going to come back and says the guy who pulling for the 40.

Speaker 1:

I was full of for the 49ers, but when they scored I mean I texted you marked during the game. How you have the leading rusher in the NFL and you're like you know what.

Speaker 2:

you don't need to run the ball we got, this we got we got.

Speaker 1:

We've got this guy who was one name McCaffrey. We've got this quarterback who is the last pick of the draft and we're just going to ride him instead of the best running back in the NFL, because that makes sense.

Speaker 2:

And you know nothing. Nothing, taking away nothing from from the quarterback there, Brock Purdy. He played great, he did play well.

Speaker 3:

He played.

Speaker 2:

I would say he played okay. At one point he was 12 of 22 and McCaffrey sitting there with like eight carries, 10 carries run the ball. You know. They came out and went three and out two series in a row. Mccaffrey didn't get the ball once and they were having so much success varying the running game in the first quarter, dominating the game, they went for there. That was no good. You know stupid mistakes. They should have been up, you know, at least 10 points.

Speaker 3:

Let's talk about what mattered in the game A 57 yard field goal, a 56 right before that, and it's set, they set. They changed the record right.

Speaker 2:

Set the record and then one just a yard. Yeah, yeah, Kicking the doors. You know I mean difference. Yeah it, 100 percent is a big difference.

Speaker 1:

The one thing that surprised me about the endorses it was a grass turf it was you know, they roll that out.

Speaker 3:

They have a door they open in. The whole field rolls outside.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I saw, do that, that's interesting man. That's interesting. Yeah, so the thing about the Super Bowl that really struck me with the kicking beyond just making the long field goals is, I think the kick return may be gone forever.

Speaker 3:

It's over, yeah Well, when you're kicking it through the uprights every single one.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's over.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I hearken back to 1989, you know, when the Bengals and the 49ers played.

Speaker 1:

Oh, I thought you were going to talk about Desmond Howard.

Speaker 2:

No, no, the Bengals, the Bengals.

Speaker 1:

Desmond Howard. He's from Lima.

Speaker 3:

And I know this would be an awesome, awesome time.

Speaker 2:

We've already covered that territory. Yeah, they don't need to know any more about that. It's, it's, it's old hat. Okay, old hat.

Speaker 1:

So, he's not from Lima.

Speaker 2:

No, he is. He's not from Lima. However, stanford Jenny's returned to kick off 93 yards for a touchdown in that Super Bowl. That put the Bengals up and they should have won the game and they blew it Blah blah blah.

Speaker 1:

Who won?

Speaker 2:

that game? No, they didn't, but they should have who won any who kick. Returns are over.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, they're over, oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

More importantly than that, how great were those commercials, guys.

Speaker 1:

They were not very good.

Speaker 2:

I mean, I guess I should have.

Speaker 1:

Yes, you should have been prepared.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

So, so, let's talk about commercials, because everybody can get into this. What was your top? Put them in order. Top three, and I don't know if you can find three good ones, but there were three that I found were humorous. Do you guys remember? What are the ones you remember?

Speaker 2:

Number one, Arnold Schwarzenegger with Duncan Donuts.

Speaker 3:

I thought the Duncan one was fantastic with Ben Affleck, and just because of Matt Damon, pass, all right. What about the one Arnold Schwarzenegger?

Speaker 2:

State Farm. State Farm I don't know.

Speaker 3:

Good neighbor. Yeah, I remember that, you know. The other one I remembered was the one where everybody's doing the impersonation Back to Christopher.

Speaker 1:

Walker, christopher Walker. That was pretty bad, that one could have been fun.

Speaker 2:

It could have been great. It was funny it could have been funny. Yeah, I mean, they really could have gone places with that, and I think it kind of fell a little flat it's.

Speaker 3:

Christopher Walker, and I still love it. And then the last one I thought was pretty good was and I don't remember what it was for it was the one that, jennifer Aniston, where you have to forget something to remember something.

Speaker 1:

It was Uber.

Speaker 3:

Uber.

Speaker 1:

Eats maybe it was something like that yeah, when she forgot who Ross was.

Speaker 3:

Right and the guy forgot his pants and Right and yeah, that was. I thought that was pretty, pretty humorous.

Speaker 2:

But we're glad that you did the other ones. They were terrible.

Speaker 1:

I didn't care for him that much.

Speaker 3:

Oh, the funny part of that one's where jelly roll.

Speaker 1:

The head with tattoos on his face.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, See, I don't even know who jelly roll is, so jelly rose country music singer. I saw the guy with the, with the tattoos on his face. Well, it's one.

Speaker 3:

There was also post Malone, who sang America, the beautiful.

Speaker 2:

Yes, jelly looks very similar.

Speaker 1:

Think about the half time show. I can't say it's Sorry, I didn't care for it.

Speaker 3:

I did not care for I thought it was. I think if you were Into that kind of music you really would have enjoyed it, right? I mean, mark, you're too old to appreciate it with with us or not?

Speaker 2:

the only, and I didn't know one song Right the only one I knew was yell yell. It was.

Speaker 1:

that was just called, yeah, but whatever he says, all he does is say yell like 30 times.

Speaker 3:

Well, what's cool about that is you had Ludacris in that right there.

Speaker 2:

That's the part where I thought Ludacris is. All the people that came in. I had no idea. I knew Alicia Keys. That was the only right.

Speaker 1:

What? Okay, sorry, I think I know your answer to this already. What's your best half-time show? Was it Prince?

Speaker 2:

Prince hands down Prince I go you to number two right after the 9-11. I think their their performance that year was amazing, but, prince, Prince. League of his own no doubt Do you.

Speaker 1:

I don't know that.

Speaker 3:

I even saw that one to be honest, it's worth going back to the one that I, the one that's been recent, that.

Speaker 1:

I don't actually pretty good, no, oh the one that's recent that I thought was pretty good is when it was dr Drian snoot dog and all that was that I thought that was a good one.

Speaker 2:

Now I'm gonna first fun fact of this show. Okay, prince's performance. It was in Miami, as I recall, and the range just started to come down right before he was to go out. Mm-hmm and so the guy who was like the I Don't know director or whatever, went to Prince and said is there anything that we can do? You know, do you want to not do this right now, would you? You know? And Prince just looked at him and said can you make it rain Harder?

Speaker 1:

That's what I learned that attitude he said can you make it rain harder?

Speaker 2:

and went out and just slayed right that was.

Speaker 3:

I don't think I've seen it it's.

Speaker 2:

It's great, it's worth going back and looking at yeah, we'll watch it on YouTube. It stands up to the test of time, you know.

Speaker 3:

But go back to when they did the the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions. Oh yeah, when he played while my guitar gently weeps, exactly it was. That's, it's. There's nobody. I mean, we've discussed this in our guitarist, I believe it sometime. Just amazing.

Speaker 1:

Yep, did usher try to be inspired by Michael Jackson last night with the Glove?

Speaker 3:

apparently so the roller skate that I didn't understand but apparently apparently he is. We're telling her age was it roller derby? No apparently he roller skates on his, on tiktok channels or something.

Speaker 1:

He roller skates, I don't get it, but look, you gotta be Tiktok channels. Is that what they are, I mean?

Speaker 2:

like I don't think that it's tiktok channels, my friend.

Speaker 1:

I, it's not a preferred nomenclature, get off my lawn Anyhow.

Speaker 2:

That is not the preferred. I think he does that, but anyhow.

Speaker 3:

Look, you have to be talented to dance in rollerskates, you know I mean you know, he can dance. But he did have a glove on, a white glove Right. That was unique, yeah. Oh yeah, as soon, as you know what?

Speaker 2:

as soon as he took the shirt off.

Speaker 3:

He got hot. Oh, he was sweating, yeah.

Speaker 2:

He was warm.

Speaker 3:

He was warm because he's 45 years old. Did you look like that at 45?

Speaker 1:

What do you?

Speaker 3:

mean, if I look like that at 45, I'd have had my shirt off all the time.

Speaker 1:

Well, I told you I've told this joke about Reagan before. If my stomach looked like Reagan's, I wouldn't wear a shirt to court your honor sorry about that.

Speaker 2:

It's what it is. I find you in contempt.

Speaker 3:

Well, contempt away. You'd be like the Burke Chrysler of lawyers absolutely yeah, Bert Chrysler should leave his shirt on.

Speaker 2:

And and they have a, the fellow podcasters two bears one cave. That's right. Very good podcast. Shout out to them. They need to shout out to us.

Speaker 3:

Maybe get us a few listeners, that'd be all right so overall Super Bowl, besides half, besides the overtime man, it was a sea average.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I mean it was a close game over time. Wonderful blah, but so many mistakes a lot lost, a lot opportunities. Yeah, poor, poor coaching, poor game planning on the part of San Francisco.

Speaker 1:

I'm sorry.

Speaker 2:

No I didn't have his team prepared. In my opinion, you know Shanahan at the end of the game when they go out and they take the ball over time, not knowing the new rules.

Speaker 3:

But the players all said they had no idea had no idea.

Speaker 2:

They were excited to take the ball first fall this that well, but here's what.

Speaker 3:

Here's what you gotta think about. So when they talked to Andy Reed about it, he said they've been practicing that all all week. Yeah, with the new rules.

Speaker 1:

Mm-hmm.

Speaker 3:

Shanahan didn't know anything about it. But how would you like to be Shanahan and know that you've lost, or been a part of the coaching staff of three Yep of the past eight Super Bowls and lost them all? Yeah, and we're ahead by double digits.

Speaker 2:

Well, he was the offensive coordinator in the the 28 to 3 come back from the Falcons and Patriots.

Speaker 1:

He loses his mind when it comes to Coaching the offense well, during that game considering.

Speaker 2:

You know, did it before considering we've given at least eight minutes to to pro football. I think we now transition and talk just a little briefly about college football because, again, to me, it's really the only football that matters and you just want to talk about your new oh yeah.

Speaker 1:

You should, you should be excited about it. The.

Speaker 2:

Ohio State University Hires Chip Kelly, ucla head coach, as their new offensive coordinator.

Speaker 3:

So does that guarantee a victory over Maison blue this?

Speaker 2:

year?

Speaker 1:

Well, it's because the hard ball is not there anymore, so they're probably going to win yeah he ran, tucked his tail between his legs and took off. He had nothing else to prove a college football. Bye, bye, cheater.

Speaker 3:

Bye, bye, cheater. How many years did he coach at Michigan? All.

Speaker 1:

I know is the last three. I was gonna say the last three is all that really matters. So it's almost like taxes you only keep three years worth.

Speaker 3:

So three years is all that really matters.

Speaker 2:

So it was three and oh, against the, I recall a 62 39 victory by the Ohio State University.

Speaker 1:

How many, how many did coach day coach that they won?

Speaker 2:

What's coach days record against Michigan I think he's either one in three or two, and no, he's one in three because they they the COVID year. They were like no, we can't play, we might get sick, because they knew Ohio State was going to drill him. He is on a roll tonight, boom.

Speaker 1:

So one in three.

Speaker 3:

Chip Kelly one in three. So do you guys guarantee to beat Michigan this year when Sean Judkins will?

Speaker 2:

you win? No, they will not guarantee it.

Speaker 3:

How much do you want to wait for Howard? That Ohio State does not win the national championship.

Speaker 1:

They are Alabama North now. It's the only issue I've got with that bet.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, but that's because Alabama's down right now, Right? I mean they took all their players.

Speaker 1:

Absolutely, that's true.

Speaker 2:

Let's just say that I feel much more confident in my team's ability to to feel they a much more competitive game team this year and and I can I'll make this guarantee right now. See what it makes in jar right now, ohio State will make the playoffs, playoffs.

Speaker 1:

Oh, it's 12 teams. Of course they're going to make the playoffs. They don't play anybody. At least the big 10 did add at least one team. That's decent.

Speaker 2:

Which one?

Speaker 1:

Washington. Yeah, they're decent Kentucky's got a new offensive coordinator. Looks like nobody's ever heard of them, but they got one yeah who is? That. I don't know. You know I'm trying to find his name right now, Somebody. So it's not Chip.

Speaker 2:

Kelly. No, it's not a head coach of a power five team.

Speaker 1:

Is. Are there power fives anymore?

Speaker 2:

I think there's power to right.

Speaker 3:

There's only two that matters, yeah. I can't even find the guy's name.

Speaker 1:

He may be listen. They said he may be the greatest thing since last period.

Speaker 3:

They said maybe not, he likes to throw the ball. He's fast enough to be that kind of thing.

Speaker 2:

I think I know, here we go.

Speaker 3:

Buddy Ebson, no Bush Humden, now he's, he is from Kuwait, yep.

Speaker 1:

Have you ever heard of that name?

Speaker 3:

No, he was a Boise State.

Speaker 1:

If it was Boise State from the 90s, it'd be legit. Yeah, it's not. Can we talk about?

Speaker 3:

her, who told me how bad that field is, and how it? Should be outlawed. That is ridiculous.

Speaker 2:

Oh, the blue turf. I'm a fan. Why, why?

Speaker 1:

There's some high school good looking that has black turf.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Yeah, that's a little hot, I think. But yeah, I can't imagine playing on that. When we did the turf fields here I was asked about could we do a blue and gold or yellow?

Speaker 1:

turf? What about a green and black?

Speaker 2:

I was not asked that question for shocking, but no. So we went with the traditional, you know. But I guess, I think, I think the blue turf is kind of cool.

Speaker 3:

I got no problem.

Speaker 2:

I don't want to see it in every other stadium, but just just occasionally.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, one off.

Speaker 2:

What if we? What if there was like a white turf field? It seems like that would be cooler, wouldn't it be cooler?

Speaker 3:

You would think it would be yeah, yeah, how about a brown? So you lose the ball and see it Right. Let me find the camo field.

Speaker 2:

There you go. That's funny. So we also got to talk about Toby Keith. We lost a legend and icon this past week and you know we all had a chance to go see Toby in concert. We got a chance to meet him and get our pictures with him Super guy.

Speaker 3:

Hang out backstage with the family and the dog, toby's dog, luna, just a tremendous dude and man, it's just sad as I'll get out.

Speaker 2:

So it's. You know you don't want to dwell on the sad parts, though you want to. You want to focus on what he meant to you, you know. And man, his music. I was so glad when he was, you know, when he was nominated and became a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, because his songs I mean when you listen to a Toby Keith song Holy Cow man was an incredible songwriter.

Speaker 3:

You know that's. That's a funny story that you say that. Well, back and up, I think what what hits most about this is you know he was a huge country music celebrity right. Yeah, and he got you know taken down by something that affects people close to us. So, it shows you these guys you know that are bigger, the life and celebrities and all this have the same issues we have.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, Now they've got a lot more money to deal with it most of the time, but they, you know it's still. The troubles of life still affect these guys. And talking about a songwriter, you know the song courtesy of the red, white and blue was never meant to be sung to anyone else other than his USO tours. You're right, and he was so big with the military and all that, and you know that was you got a, you got a.

Speaker 2:

You got a favorite Toby Keith song.

Speaker 3:

I'm a traditionalist man, Should have been a Cowboys. My far all time favorite, all time.

Speaker 1:

Well that you.

Speaker 2:

I'm going to go with. I ain't as good as I once was, that's a good one. Oh, I love that song, but I'm as good once as I ever was. I'm not as good once as I ever was, but I, you know, and I'm definitely ain't as good as I once was, but I love that song. Makes no sense right now. I just think everything about that song.

Speaker 3:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

That's true, I mean you just, you know it builds, you know each verse builds on the last one, brilliant.

Speaker 1:

My favorite song is not one of his most most popular ones, but my favorite song that he ever did was me and God lover, um it's. He did it in concert a few times. It was. It was definitely my favorite song. I mean Janie's was stays in Mexico. Oh yeah, he had some funny videos. Red solo cup.

Speaker 3:

I like the one he did with Willie Nelson beer for my horses. I'll never smoke weed with Willie again. Oh yeah, oh yeah, that was. And the story behind that was even better If you ever get a chance to look that up and where that all came from. But yeah, the beer for my horses video was hilarious.

Speaker 2:

You're right. Yeah, Um, that's that. That was a tough one. Like I said, he was only 62 years old. I mean good dude, though. Um anything else you want to talk about boys?

Speaker 3:

We got a lot, but we need to bump up these and have these more often so we can sit around. I do have a question, so it's three guys around a table.

Speaker 1:

Yep, not a round table. I was going to say this is a square table.

Speaker 3:

I just want to say this Is you think this is square, more of a rectangle. This guy's an engineer, a rectangle around a rectangular. Doedekahedron table.

Speaker 2:

Yes, we do need to bump these up because we have lots of things to discuss, but for now I say we call it a day.
