How to Get a Competitive Edge in One Loft Racing
Greetings from Victoria Falls! In this episode, Geoff Armand talks about strategies for gaining a competitive edge in one-loft pigeon racing. Here are the key takeaways:
🐦 Adaptability to Local Climatic Conditions: Pigeons must be suited to the climatic conditions of the race location, as different areas present unique challenges.
🐦 Selecting the Right Breeders: Focus on pigeons that are proven and finished the final of the OLR you are targeting, or similar races.
🐦 Health and Condition of Breeders: Ensure breeders are in peak health year-round, well-rested, and free from diseases. Vaccinate young pigeons early, 21 to 24 days old and maintain their health.
🐦 Ship Young Pigeons: Send pigeons from the breeding loft at 45-60 days old. Minimise stress. Don’t overcrowd babies and ensure they are well hydrated.
