I've walked through the valleys of self-doubt and climbed the mountains of personal triumph, understanding just how fragile the recovery process can be. This week, we're getting real about ego - that often unwelcome guest in our minds that can derail even the best of intentions. Our journey takes an honest turn as we confront the necessity to quiet the inner voice that can sometimes lead us astray. By sharing my own struggles with letting go of ego, I'm inviting you all to a session of soul-searching and spiritual grounding in our fourth-week episode.

Embracing humility, we recognize together that the lessons life throws at us aren't random; they're stepping stones to a greater purpose. On day 23, I'm opening up about the impact of our stories, the ones that have the power to light the way for those embarking on similar paths. Your engagement - your likes, comments, and shares - they're not just clicks and taps on a screen. They represent a community united by resilience, a testament to the power of shared experiences in recovery. So let's continue to support one another, celebrating each victory, no matter how small, as we move forward, stronger together.

Questions this episode answers:
1. How can embracing humility aid in the recovery process?
2. What role does ego play in hindering personal growth and recovery?
3. How can I find strength and support within a recovery community?

00:00 - Erick Allen (Host)
Happy week four. Thanks for joining me. I know firsthand, man, the challenges of recovery and putting in the work. Yeah. So, week four, I want you to really, really, really focus on your dismount, like how you're going to land your plane. Yeah. So for me, I want to just pray. Let's just start the week with prayer. Close your eyes by your heads, dear Heavenly Father. Thank you, thank you. Thank you for another day, thank you for another week, another opportunity. Lord, I just come to you lifting up our recovery community. Up to you, lord, I ask that you continue to meet every single person where they are. Lord, give them that energy they need to keep on pushing. Amen and amen. So, yes, week four.

00:46
Week four, day 23, talks about ego. Yes, because we got to get that ego figured out. When it comes to our recovery, man, we can't be doubting ourselves, we can't just overthink things, and we got to let that ego go. We got to stop edging god out. Okay, because that's what I think about when I think about ego. I to stop edging God out. Okay, because that's what I think about when I think about ego. I think about edging God out, taking God out of the equation. Yes, it's out of the schools. It's out of the homes, man.

01:13
A lot of us don't pray as much as we should. Yes, so take the ego. Land the ego today. Realize. Recovery is on the rise. You were doing the work. I'm super proud of you. We're not edging God out, no more, and we land in the ego. Yes, it's a beautiful day and I had a question.

01:33
Why should we land our egos? Why is it so important to really focus on your ego and think about your recovery? Great question. It starts in your mind. Every single thing that you go through starts with a thought. Before it comes out your mouth, you have to think it first. So when you have an ego, sometimes that puts our thoughts in a different place. Yes, we think we're better than we think we're bigger. No, no, no, this can't be me and all this other stuff. We're better than we think we're bigger. No, no, no, this can't be me and all this other stuff. Yes, but when you land that ego, when you start really being more humble, realizing things happen to us, for us, for a certain reason.

02:15
Everything that you're going through is designed to get you where you need to go. Remember somebody's looking up at you right now, wondering how you did that, how'd you do it? Story, your testimony is part of the recovery journey that you need to remember, because somebody's looking up to you, somebody needs that help. It's coming behind you. You need to help. You looked at somebody, so when they look at you, remember you're gonna edge God out if you keep using that ego. So I want you guys to be great today. Yeah, make sure you share me. Support is an action word. I really appreciate all of the feedback, all the likes, comments and shares. Man, we couldn't do it without you. Man, shout out to you everybody in recovery, because without recovery the world is in shambles. Until next time, take care of yourself and each other. Let's go.
