2 | HAUNTED: Partridge Island
Partridge Island, located off the coast of St. John, New Brunswick, has a rich and mysterious history. It was originally known for its abundance of rough-necked grouse birds, which is how it got its name. The island served as a lighthouse and military fortification, playing a key role in guiding ships and protecting the port of St. John. It also served as a quarantine station, where immigrants were processed and treated for diseases such as cholera and typhus.
The island is now deserted and off-limits to the public, but its eerie atmosphere and underground tunnel system continue to intrigue locals. Partridge Island, located in the Bay of Fundy near St. John, New Brunswick, has a haunting history. It served as a quarantine station for immigrants in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and thousands of people died on the island from diseases like typhus and cholera. The island is believed to be haunted, with reports of voices, cries for help, and encounters with spirits. The tunnel system on the island is particularly eerie, with strange noises and sightings of a male spirit who may have committed suicide there. In recent years, locals have reported hearing cries for help coming from the island, but no one has been found. Despite its dark past, Partridge Island remains a beautiful and intriguing place.
