Wisdom From My Mother On Courage and Reinventing Your Career After 45
Mar 20, 2024 Episode 26
Cole Baker-Bagwell/ Peaches Pat Gray

If you're thinking about reinventing your career or your life, this episode will fire your soul and warm your heart. This week, my Mom, "Peaches" Pat Gray, is sharing her wisdom around both, from her lived experience.

Allow me to set the stage.
My Mom, "Peaches", is a stone cold sassy badass.
She was the quintessential Enjoli woman of the 70's, with Farrah Fawcett looks, bringing home the bacon and fryin' it up in the pan. She ran marathons, raised three little girls on her own, and gained the respect of everyone she encountered when she launched her ambitious career in medicine.

Peaches talks with us about her entrepreneurial spirit that helped her earn cash, survive tough times, and reinvent her life after age 45.

She talks with us about breaking barriers as a woman and earning a position as a well respected  practitioner in an elite all male urology practice. She reflects on the importance of understanding her worth and advocating with confidence for equal pay and equal opportunity.

Peaches shares even more inspiration as she talks about her pivot point (her She Grabs The Mic moment) that took place in her late 40’s. It was the year she courageously chose to leave the safety and comfort of her well paying career at Duke to take a leap and start from scratch in a new town with little more than fierce talent, vision and determination.

My Mom candidly talks about the challenges so many women over 45 face: the expense of kids in college, no guarantee that what you build will work out, and a big dream she couldn't shake if she tried.

She shares what she's most proud of as she rewinds back to the years of her bold choice to reinvent herself and her career.

She connects us with the role courage, determination, self love, strength, and planning played in her story.

Finally, my Mom reflects on the life changing power of finding joy in your work.

By the end of this episode, you'll walk away with wisdom from my Mom that will remind you of this one very important truth.  If you can see it, you can make it real.

Her golden thread throughout our conversation is loving what you do leads to an affirming and fulfilling life.

You deserve to live your best life. We all do babe. 🔥
