3. Living on Purpose

Martin Coburn

There's absolutely no question, the happiest people that we meet are those that are generally doing 3 things:

1.     Something they love and they enjoy

2.     Something that makes use of their natural occurring strengths and talents

3.     Doing something that is in some way adding value to the world.

When you combine these three things together you can be described as living on purpose.

We are generally taught from an early age, to work hard, do well at school, get a great job and then happiness comes.  Much of the time we work with people who have ended up on a career path that they didn’t even design.  Their original career path was chosen for them by their parent, or career officer, or a teacher.

This produces “ought to” energy rather than “want to energy”. The 'ought to' space will rob you of the opportunity to do something different. If left unchallenged it will lead to 'suddenly syndrome'.....a situation where you ignore the signs and find yourself in a reality that you have created, but never wanted!

Through this episode, we will help you turn your thinking inside out and start with what makes you happy.  We explain how exploring your strengths and your passions will help you get clear on your purpose and get more of what you want from life.  A clear purpose provides the “why” behind the “what” and will allow you to experience greater success, happiness and live a fulfilling life.

We explore 7 maps to help you take stock, set your intention, and manifest your dreams.  These are summarised in the Living on Purpose Power Tool linked below.

In this episode we explore topics such as:

  • How to find a role that allows you to make your best contribution
  • A structured process to define your life purpose
  • How to be an example (not a warning) to others in living purposefully
  • How to discover your motivating values – whats really important to you above all else
  • The difference between a mission, vision, and purpose (and an easy way to get clarity on all 3)
  • Establishing an ecologically sound life plan
  • Distributing your time on purpose in all areas of your life
  • How to set inspiring life goals
  • Establishing a ‘must do list” in alignment with your purpose

“Turn that model inside out and start off with happiness.”

“It should feel a little bit exciting and a little bit exhilarating, a little bit scary at the same time.”
