The Commonwealth Beat with Laura LeBeau is a statewide Public Affairs program airing on all Seven Mountains Media Pennsylvania radio stations.   

As Pennsylvanians get their tents, sleeping bags and other camping gear in order for summertime adventures, the PA Dept. of Conservation & Natural Resources is ramping up its message about fire safety in Pennsylvania's forest lands.  DCNR forest firefighters deal with about  a thousand forest fires each year, the vast majority of which are caused by humans, not sky-to-ground lightning strikes.   Mike Kern, DCNR Forest Fire Prevention Chief will discuss wildfires in PA, and what everyone can do to prevent them.

Also in this episode, a conversation about overcoming adversity with renowned Central Pennsylvania Executive Leadership consultant, Kristal Markle-Temons, author of the book Beautifully Bossy: A Guide to Servant Leadership.  She had to relearn reading and writing after suffering a traumatic brain injury from a car accident and discovered many lessons about becoming a leader, even when the deck seems stacked against you.
