The Commonwealth Beat with Laura LeBeau is a statewide Public Affairs program airing on all of the Seven Mountains Media Pennsylvania radio stations. 

Firearms Deer Hunting has begun and there is much to be excited about.  In an extended interview with the new Executive Director of the PA Game Commission, Stephen Smith discusses some of the the issues facing hunters these days, including the threat of Chronic Wasting Disease within Pennsylvania's White Tail Deer herd.  There are some things that every hunter should know about CWD, and at least a few precautions that should be taken, prior to consuming any deer meat harvested.  Also, why is Sunday hunting such a big deal, when hunting, in general, brings in millions of dollars annually to the Commonwealth's coffers?  Is 2025 the year when Sunday hunting goes full time?
