The Commonwealth Beat with Laura LeBeau is a statewide Public Affairs program airing on all of the Seven Mountains Media Pennsylvania radio stations.  

Pennsylvania is one of only four states in the nation with a full time state legislature.  The 203 house members and 50 state senators receive the third-highest annual salary in the nation, behind only California and New York state.  But when when ranked by productivity, the Pennsylvania General Assembly is near the bottom of the list nationwide.  Representative Perry Stambaugh of the 86th District, which includes all of Perry County and parts of Juniata County, thinks the citizens are getting short changed.  That's why he's circulating a co-sponsorship memo to authorize a study looking at the pros and cons of making the General Assembly a part time body.
