Speaker 1:

Hello everyone, welcome to T3. We're back training together on Tuesdays. My name is Trina and with me again are my beautiful colleagues in this podcast, Nicole and Sarge. Of course, we need to be beautiful because it's New Year, oh.

Speaker 2:

I know, I know, I know. Happy New Year first before you.

Speaker 1:

Sorry, I'm caught up with our topic. Happy New Year to everyone. I hope your New Year is good. I hope you won't be too loud.

Speaker 2:

I hope there's no hospital.

Speaker 1:

I hope so. I'm very happy at least we're kicking off this New Year with the Brando podcast. Of course it's a good question because it's New Year. Of course it's a New Year's solution, so jump right on it. Nicole, I'll go first. I'll go first Because Nicole is really good. She said she has a daughter. I'm ready. I have a lot of thoughts.

Speaker 3:

Maybe you go first, Like six months ago, my New Year's resolution was ready.

Speaker 2:

I'm so happy You're really advanced, Nicole. I hope so.

Speaker 3:

My resolution is relevant For those curious. My New Year's resolution is to lower my debt to Shopee. I'm too lazy to pay later, that's right. I have a lot of adult expenses in 2023. So now, in 2024, I resolved to get back up on my feet financially. So start small Shopee first, one up at a time.

Speaker 1:

One up at a time. That's a good tip. I like that. Nicole is still a big girl.

Speaker 3:

Yes, because Shopee isn't the only one.

Speaker 2:

I'm interested to know what apps you need to give up, but knowing you, you can do it Start small, not 100%, even 50%. Because we're friends, I'll say you can do it.

Speaker 3:

Thank you for knowing me so well, but at least I'm trying. It's a process.

Speaker 2:

It's the first step.

Speaker 3:

So you're a charge. What's your New Year's resolution?

Speaker 2:

My New Year's resolution is so good.

Speaker 3:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

A year. I will not make new year's resolutions.

Speaker 1:

Oh, the best. The new year's resolution to end all new year's resolutions.

Speaker 2:

Yes, literally it will end in new year's resolutions. This is the last one. So maybe throughout the year, as long as I don't make new year's resolutions, I will fulfill it, so it will be easy to fulfill.

Speaker 3:

Very, very doable, very smart.

Speaker 1:

They said that if you don't make new year's resolutions, it will end.

Speaker 2:

That's right. This is like this podcast.

Speaker 1:

We will record it. What about your new year's resolution?

Speaker 2:

I guess I just got tired of making it, Of course, during the new year. You're so high. Yes, this year, this year, I will do it. I'm not tired anymore. And speaking of that, I have this source. It has top 10 and I'm guilty here. Top 10 most common new year's resolutions.

Speaker 2:

Do you know what is the top one? That's still a top one. It's close. That's actually number two, at least according to this list. But number one is to exercise more Close, so close In recent years. Yes, I did say that I will exercise more or I will lose weight. I just said it. I didn't lose weight.

Speaker 1:

That's why.

Speaker 2:

It was just a resolution, but nothing happened to it.

Speaker 1:

It's not in implementation, correct.

Speaker 2:

You know what's three. What's your new year's resolution I?

Speaker 1:

know We'll go back to Sarge Because the past few years I never bothered coming up with a new year's resolution. I was tired before because I won't continue. I'm not active, I have a resolution, but now, for some reason, I want to jump back into a get back to a new year's resolution. I hope that, god willing, I hope it will continue and, based on what you said, that's the exact thing I want to do. So I guess I'm on a normal curve Because, coming from a medical I mean from I had some medical health issues and, to be honest, this year I started working out and exercising Because my dad and I renewed our membership in the gym that we used to go to After so many years of silence.

Speaker 2:

Silence really.

Speaker 1:

We showed our face again in that gym and we took some extra extra. So we started early this year, but it was a major interruption because of the medical stuff that I was looking for. So I had to stop first, which is okay, because I feel like towards one goal. I just needed to clear things out, because, of course, you need to be cleared. It's better to be cleared to ensure that when you're working out, you're putting stress on your body, so you need to fit to work out or fit to exercise. So now I feel like I'm going to be a new year's resolution and right after my recovery, all the doctors are saying after your recovery, you get back to it. So I'm not the only one. Of course there are more, there are more, there are more medical health practitioners in my life.

Speaker 2:

So I want to take it as a sign of aging.

Speaker 1:

Signs of aging and I'm realizing that I really need to. It's really you really need to, so that's it. So I'm really going to work out and be healthy. Also, it's already started in 2024. That's it.

Speaker 2:

That's really good, exactly.

Speaker 1:

But it's really interesting what you said. I mean, of course, from the simple to the. You can call it simple, but for me what I said is not simple, Because it's not a small thing. I feel like it's also a big thing, at least for me. I'm also a little bit late.

Speaker 2:

I'm really going to work out, Because when we were giving Nicole, we had a racket, so we had a meeting and we were like wait, wait, there's a shop. Yes, it's really relevant.

Speaker 1:

So you're going to stop the meeting.

Speaker 2:

Stop the meeting for, for example, if you have an online class, an online class is really ongoing. It's not a meeting anymore, it's just going to be a waste of time. So I'm like you're already shopping. Yes, I'm going to call it.

Speaker 1:

The shop is really relevant.

Speaker 3:

But it's okay, it's really important.

Speaker 1:

But everything I guess is a moderation, but that's what I'm going to ask you. What are the? Usually the same as you, serge, because you're tired of the New Year's resolution, because sometimes you won't find it, I'm also like that. What do you think? Why do you think like that? I mean, what are these challenges that people face in terms of activating or implementing their New Year's resolution? What do you think?

Speaker 2:

For me. Two things come to mind. Number one, it's maybe a whole year is too long to do one thing, I think. I think I mean it's my opinion and I'm speaking for myself. And the second one is maybe because life happens. That's all I say. For example, I want to lose weight. We're in the Philippines, there's a couple, there's a girl, there's a party. True, you're like are you going to stop? I don't want to be a KJ. That's like it's a mass on birthday, and then you just go on a buffet and then you say sorry, because my New Year's resolution is to lose weight, so I'll stay away from the buffet. It's not like that. So those two things For me a year is too long, because there are some things that you can, let's say, do in three months.

Speaker 1:

Just a few.

Speaker 2:

And number two, that's life happens, so that's why it's not fulfilled. That's why this year I really strive that I won't do New Year's resolution.

Speaker 3:

Not to have? Not at all.

Speaker 2:

Very doable, very doable, right. So I think this is the first New Year's resolution that I will be able to achieve.

Speaker 1:

Congrats in advance. Very nice, thank you guys.

Speaker 3:

I won't lie, shopee is a part of my life, but, of course, everything in moderation. So even before grabbing, yes, I promise.

Speaker 1:

I promise I recorded this, recorded documented.

Speaker 3:

I swear on my life. I promise.

Speaker 2:

Don't be serious about it, but it's nice that you are serious like that.

Speaker 1:

Correct.

Speaker 2:

We are not talking about our projects meeting and passing, but I really did practice online. I was really off-cam.

Speaker 3:

We are the ones who have the solution to have someone else receive the package, so you don't know what's in it.

Speaker 1:

You have a system.

Speaker 3:

Yes, we have a system, but I think on a personal level, what makes it hard to fulfill the let go of the addictions is because we are sometimes obsessed with things and we are bombarded by lots of marketing ads. So the solution, in a funny way but realistic, is to find a different obsession to distract, just pass.

Speaker 1:

Just pass to others. It's true that works.

Speaker 3:

Yes, so instead of constantly looking at Shopee every day, I'm just playing games. Just play mobile games, so that I'm not opening Shopee every single day and not making a purchase. Do it?

Speaker 2:

The question is can you install it?

Speaker 3:

I'm not sure, no. It's not on the stage Baby steps.

Speaker 2:

Support us, Nicole. Yes, of course, and of course as a very supportive friend, Nicole buy a cup of coffee.

Speaker 1:

Link in bio, just test it.

Speaker 2:

I'm just helping you with your resolve.

Speaker 3:

Be accountable. Have friends check on you Accountability partners exactly.

Speaker 1:

Very good, it's very interesting. I'm also related to your insights. It's one year. It really is to help, especially for my age now I also have a passion for cleaning I get really impatient. I feel like throughout all my experience and the years I've been living, I really need to chunk the things. It helps because I feel like it's one of the challenges when it comes to New Year's resolution. It's just a New Year's resolution and then after it remains up in the clouds. It's so ethereal. I have a vision, but I don't know.

Speaker 1:

I'm sure some people probably have a plan. Some don't. For them, I have a New Year's resolution. It's okay because there's thinking, because you have a New Year's resolution, you'll follow through. But, as we know, that doesn't happen with some people, and myself included. So for me, having a plan is really important.

Speaker 2:

And I guess from the word itself resolution. When you say something is resolved, it's over.

Speaker 1:

That's awesome.

Speaker 2:

Yes, I did it. I just did it because it's the top one. I will exercise more Because I said that I will exercise more. It's my resolution, so it's already resolved, because I made it already Right, so maybe you should have your implementation.

Speaker 1:

Exactly, you said that the answer is not correct. It's resolved because it's noun. Instead, you can take that word also as meaning resolve. It's your resolve to do it, it's like you have willpower to do it, but it's correct because it's like there's a finality. Okay, I have a resolution. I'm the one who's playing again. It's over.

Speaker 2:

So maybe you should have your new year's implementation or goal for 2024. It's not a new year's resolution. That's it, I guess, because it's also very limiting, since it's a new year's resolution, it's only January.

Speaker 3:

Only January.

Speaker 2:

True, only January, right, or it's only January 1.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, when it's not settled, it's not new year. It's always a no month resolution.

Speaker 2:

Or, for example, my goal for the year 2024.

Speaker 1:

Exactly.

Speaker 2:

I guess it's also the power of words and how it can shape your thinking and the usual what you think you do, etc. I guess it has something to do with why people also do not fulfill their new year's resolutions. I'm just thinking about it now Honestly.

Speaker 3:

Yes, I want to add to that, because people are focusing on the resolution. I promise to do this, but they also need to think more about the solution itself.

Speaker 1:

How do you do this Right?

Speaker 3:

Yes, and if I change this every day, like one year is too long For some people, 6 months is enough For some people, one month, one week. So it's a constant trying to find ways, how will I maintain this in my life? So the solution is important, even if it's small. So, nicole, don't be a no-shopper at all. It's like no-shopper today and then no-shopper for 3 days until it's 7 days.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you work yourself to it.

Speaker 3:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

Baby steps and, I think, what's effective for me, at least in terms of my tasks, because I'm a mom and I'm a wife, I'm a tutor and sometimes I support my children.

Speaker 2:

They don't give me the gadgets and, of course, I work right. So what helps me is that you really have an hour that I focus. So I learned this in a training session that I attended, so it's called 1K, 1 day Because they call it a power hour. After that you really focus because, since I was attending that training, so the power hour is just for me to focus on the training itself, because the training is online. That helped me because, whatever happens, I focus on the power hour. Then I make the modules that I'm supposed to do, the things I'm supposed to submit, and, yeah, just one hour a day and I'm able to do it. So I guess, when it comes to New Year's resolutions, perhaps I could do that as well, okay, so again for this year.

Speaker 2:

I've been wanting to do that for a long time. My true New Year's resolution not the joke I want to read a book. That's true, I used to be ambitious. I went back to one book a week, wow. But yeah, because that's exactly it. I guess I'm talking about two things. So two things first is set realistic goals and number two, just focus on doing one task at a time Multitasking. So power hour worked for me. I'm not sure if it will work for everyone, and that's what I plan to do for this year. So I will finish my training, but I want to continue the power hour, just to focus. So let's say, this month my power hour will be fixing my closet, that's it. Just do it every day for one month. Maybe next month my power hour would be reading a book, so I don't have anything to do on that power hour but just to read a book. So in that way, I believe I'll be able to accomplish some things that are in my New Year's resolutions of New Year's resolutions of past, that's it.

Speaker 3:

For the future.

Speaker 1:

Backlog.

Speaker 3:

Backlog.

Speaker 1:

You're not doing New Year's resolutions anymore because you have a lot more to fulfill from before.

Speaker 2:

Correct Backlog. I'm a backlog resolution. I'm also a backlog resolution.

Speaker 1:

I'm also a backlog resolution.

Speaker 1:

I'm not a backlog resolution, an ongoing process, ungoing. This is not true. We are always a work in progress. It's important that you don't stop, because some people think I'm not doing New Year's resolutions in January Because New Year's resolutions are not picking it up, because you can start any year. So if you're doing it in 2024, you can start in December. It's never too late to start. I also had that kind of behavior. I didn't keep my plan going. I didn't have that, but there's always a new day. It's always a fresh start for you, always a fresh start for all of us and regardless of what happened in the past, you can always still begin and take on new challenges, even if you have failures before you'll be dead. Learn from it, of course, but don't dwell Right Agreed. So we started off joking around this New Year's resolution, but it's really something very meaningful and very profound in all our lives. Whatever we call it, whether it's a New Year's resolution or smart goals, we have to be specific. Our favorite training topic is smart goals.

Speaker 2:

When it comes to making objectives, it has to be smart.

Speaker 1:

Yes, exactly, it's one of the more basic training topics, and rightfully so, because you can apply it whether at work or in life, and that's one of the things that people still struggle with and continue to struggle, but we move past it. I think it's a good time that we're talking about this now, because everyone, once we step into the New Year, once the New Year is here, we're all gung-ho and very excited about what new things to implement in our lives. We wish everyone luck, of course. God bless to you.

Speaker 3:

Good luck, guys. We're supporting you, we're supporting you.

Speaker 1:

we're supporting you with your adictions and we're moving to another addiction, but hopefully that addiction is more productive. I'm not saying it's not productive, but that's what it is. It's not like it's going to be a success. It's not like it's going to be a success, but it's going to be a success.

Speaker 3:

It's going to be a success and less expensive, more productive.

Speaker 1:

I love it. Less expensive? Yes, exactly, I love that. I always say that I'm going to implement it, but I'm going to be timing it because I can't do it in big chunks.

Speaker 3:

So thank you again.
