Robert Owen is a delight to listen to, a gentleman beekeeper. With a PhD in Varroa, and having been a beekeeper for 25 years, Robert is a mine of common sense beekeeping advice.

Roberts publishers, Exile Publishing, have kindly donated a copy of ‘Honey Bee Pests and Diseases’ - A Complete Guide to Prevention and Management. Detailed chapters, illustrated with numerous photographs and diagrams, as well as other health-related problems a bee colony might face. An easy-to-comprehend, ‘must-have’ book for both the home and professional bee-keeper.

We catch up on the Moon Calendar tasks for this week. Root Crops sowing on 28th February, the last chance to sow before winter.

What to do with the dribble of milk left in your carton? A great source of calcium for your plants.

Veg of the Week is Pak Choi Green Ace F1 from @kingsseeds

Book of the Week ‘Soil’, by Matthew Evans ‘A love letter to Mother Earth’

We answer Berit’s garden questions - what do we do with volunteer plants?

Instagram Account of the Week @saintclairflowers beautiful arrangements with prints available. Do take a look.

‘Oley’ tomatoes from Heritage Food Crops Research Centre feature once again - they are delicious.
