Danny Bent Inspiring Adventures and Transformative Charities

Welcome back to another episode of Adventure Diaries with your host, Chris Watson. In today’s engaging conversation, our guest shared some incredible insights on both embarking on everyday adventures and supporting life-changing charities. Let's dive into the highlights from this episode.

A Call to Adventure

Chris Watson always concludes his episodes with a “call to adventure,” urging listeners to get inspired and explore. Today’s guest emphasized that adventures don't have to be extravagant or expensive. Here are some simple yet impactful activities you can do:

  • Go for a Walk or Run: Embrace the outdoors, find a local park, and just walk or run. The greenery and fresh air have a calming effect on the mind.
  • Rock Climbing: Whether indoors or out, rock climbing is an excellent way to challenge yourself physically and mentally.
  • Cold Water Dipping: This might sound intense, but our guest swears by the benefits of cold water dips. “At this time of year when we're breaking the ice and getting in it, you have to just remain calm,” they shared. This practice can leave you feeling refreshed and focused for the day ahead.

These small adventures can fit into your daily routine and provide significant mental and physical health benefits.

Look Within

Our guest stressed the importance of introspection during these activities. “Really look in yourself and feel what these things are doing,” they advised. Whether it's a small adventure or a more substantial one, understanding its impact on your well-being is crucial.

Pay It Forward: Supporting Worthy Causes

Another cherished tradition on the show is the “pay it forward” suggestion, where guests recommend charities or projects close to their hearts. Today’s guest had some touching recommendations:

  • Rock2Recovery: This charity supports service and ex-service personnel dealing with PTSD. In August, our guest will be running across Iceland to raise awareness and funds for this cause.
  • The Running Charity: Predominantly based in London, this organization uses running to help homeless people, gang members, and refugees. “For the smallest amounts of money, they can revolutionize an individual's life,” our guest shared emotionally, highlighting the profound impact of this charity. They’ve personally raised funds for this cause and witnessed its transformative effects.

A Heartfelt Conclusion

Chris and the guest wrapped up the episode with a heartwarming exchange, appreciating the positive energy and meaningful conversation. “It's just nice speaking to someone that smiles constantly,” Chris remarked, reflecting the uplifting tone of the interview.

I have two closing traditions on the show, one of which is a call to adventure and the other is a paid forward suggestion. So the call to adventure is a cue for you to suggest something for the listeners. It could be a trip, a place, a person, an adventure activity, just something to get people inspired and outside and active.

Great. Maybe I should touch upon the idea that, if you come on one of our adventures, it costs you a bit of money to do it, but there are things you can do that give you that feeling  for free all around you. And so whether that's let's go. I'm gonna touch upon things like going for a walk, going for a run, going rock climbing.

Just anywhere where there's green. Make sure brain, your reptilian brain think  and relax because it knows it's going to be able to get food and it knows it's going to be able to get water. Just be out in green helps. Then, the thing I would really, the thing that has a very good effect on me is the cold water dipping.

At this time of year when we're breaking the ice and getting in it and trying to stay in for a little while just to just  calm everything down because if you panic in there, you're out. So you have to just remain calm.  They're little adventures that Everyone and anyone can do and you can do it before work as well, which then leaves you in a calm state when you go into the office or whether, or the hospital or the school or wherever you are, as I really am a big believer in that.

And really, but really look in yourself. I've said it the whole time away we've been chatting  is look in yourself and feel what these things are doing. Whether that is a, um, whether that's a big adventure, a small adventure.  There's all sorts of things you can  do. Fantastic. I think the important part there as well, you can do it before the day starts, before school, college, work, whatever it may be.

So perfect. Thank you. And a pay it forward suggestion. So a recommendation for a worthy cause charity or projects that may  mean something to you.  Yep. In August, we're running across Iceland for Rock2Recovery. It's for service, ex service people who are dealing with PTSD. Rock2Recovery, that's a super awesome one.

But my personal favorite charity is the running charity. It's it's Predominantly in London, but it's spreading around the UK. And I think there's a, may even be ideas of it popping up all around the world. And it's, they take running and they take homeless people, gang members, refugees, and they combine the two and the results they have are phenomenal.

For the smallest amounts of money a small amount of money, they can revolutionize. An individual's life and I've seen that happen firsthand. There's people that are getting England vests  who were on the streets.  That is unbelievable.  And that's all thanks to the running charity and I've raised money for them before.

Like literally talking to them. I like want to cry. Telling you about it. That's how amazing the running charity are  excellent. Thank you. Thank you It's excellent Daniel get all that listed get that published and hopefully people go and check that out and contribute to it This has been fantastic. I love your energy  It's, yeah it's incredible.

It's just nice speaking to someone that smiles constantly as well. Yeah, it's really nice. It's been a lovely interview. It takes, it takes someone else to ignite to beat you when we're here. So that's all thanks to you, sir. Oh, thank you.
