Dr. John Patterson is the  Head of School at First Presbyterian Day School, in Macon, GA.  After being an executive in corporate America from 1998-2002, Dr. Patterson entered the education world. He served as a teacher and basketball coach in Bedford County Schools, VA, 2002-2005, then as a teacher, basketball coach, and administrator at Liberty Christian Academy in Lynchburg, VA from 2005 to 2010. Dr. Patterson then served as the Head of School at Liberty Christian Academy from 2010 to 2020.

Dr. Patterson graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he was a starter for their Division I men's basketball team.  He then was an Active Duty Officer in the United States Army from 1996-2001, which included participating in Operation Desert Fox in 1998.  Later as a school administrator, he earned his Doctorate of Education from Liberty University.

Dr. Patterson has been married to his wife, Cindy, for 25 years.  Cindy is also an educator. The Pattersons have a daughter, Gracie, who attends Samford University.
