Kava Kava the drink that some say stinks has gotten a makeover!
Today kava drinks taste good! I've tried a few so far and I'm really excited to tell you all about the things I've recently learned about this amazing herb.
Kava root has been used as medicine as well as a recreational and ceremonial drink for centuries and hails from Polynesia. Kava is being used more and more as an alternative to alcohol but some stories I've heard actually make it sound healing to the nervous system. That's exciting! Kava is:

I have known for some time now that I need to up my game when it comes to sourcing my meat. I want to eat the healthiest choice I can find and I now know I can no longer rely on the "grocery store" (even the 'healthy'/expensive ones) for good, quality protein. Sure, I get what I can in Naples at our store Nature's Garden when I'm there but what about when I'm back on the East Coast?
That's why I am so thrilled I was able to speak with Chris Muneio of Ranchers Reserve on this episode. Chris and his business partner decided to open a restaurant in downtown West Palm Beach, FL just a few years ago and one year later decided to become ranchers. Talk about making bold moves... mad respect! Ranchers Reserve is a privately owned, 85 acre cattle farm in Okeechobee raising wagyu beef and Berkshire pork. I was also thrilled to find out he is opening a butcher shop in Fall 2024 (of which, I'm sure to be a regular customer!). More big plans on the horizon for this entrepreneur and I can't wait to see what is in store.
Thank you for being a creator of new things, Chris! And of course, for joining me as a guest.

Some of the many therapies she offers includes ketamine therapy and medical marijuana. Herbs, oils, and 100% pure quality gel are all things you can use to repel bugs and treat bug bites more holistically. But how?
In this episode I talk about what makes you more likely to get bit, how to repel bugs naturally on yourself and in your home and give you a recipe (or two) to make your own bug repellant. Spoiler alert... this is the one I made:
Combine all oils in a 2 oz glass spray bottle.
5 drops cinnamon leaf essential oil,
5 drops lemongrass essential oil,
5 drops citronella essential oil,
5 drops peppermint essenital oil,
Mixed with witch hazel and be sure to shake up before each use.

Even if you're doing nutrition right and sleeping well you might be missing a key ingredient to optimal health.... the nervous system. If you have a dysregulated nervous system you may be stuck in "fight-or-flight" which will make it difficult to heal and achieve optimal health. Signals to look out for include:
In this episode I share various somatic therapies to explore to help support the parasympathetic and vagus nerve so you can get out of sympathetic dominance and heal.
I also mention a few vitamins and herbs that support the nervous system. My favorite is GabaEase which you can find at https://ngvitamins.com/

Has it been hard to focus? What about your sleep... trouble falling asleep or staying asleep? Have you had any emotional rollercoasters lately? Well, it might be time to support your liver! If you've you been feeling any of the following you could have a sluggish or congested liver.
If any of these symptoms are relatable then you might want to consider looking into some liver support. I decided it was time to support my liver with a green drink I picked up from our store. As I looked at the ingredients I was impressed and wanted to learn more so in this episode I share what I learned about spirulina, moringa and chlorella.
Cheers to a green drink!

When it comes to what we eat and why -- there is a reason sometimes. And other times you might just jump on the bandwagon and follow the trends.
In this episode, I aim to clear up some of the confusion on all the various “diets” that exist out there, share where they came from, and what to know when you want to lose weight.
I try to remain (mostly) objective here and just report my findings -- although I do have my opinion (based on research and my nutrition certification) on how to eat to support optimal health.
Bottom line: don't get confused my marketing. Read all your food labels. Eat real, whole foods as much has possible. Start where you are, but start! Incremental improvements make a big difference.

I'm celebrating 6 months of weekly episodes - YAY!
That made me think -- why is alcohol the main celebration method in our society?
As I say in the opening of this episode, I'm not here to tell you what to do. And at the same time, I hope you'll listen to some hard-to-hear information about your "friend" (or foe) alcohol.
In my journey to improve my own health, I'm often thinking to myself "just-say-no when it comes to alcohol." But I don't always find that such an easy thing to do. Why? In this episode I discuss, why we want to drink and why it's natural to seek that feeling. Plus, several things every drinker should know about what constitutes 1 drink, and what it does to our brain and body.
Here are a few suggestions when it comes to supplements that can help support you if you decide to drink:
