Dr. Alan Needle: The Neuromechanics & Rehabilitation of Chronic Ankle Instability and Other Injuries

Gary McCullough

Dr. Alan Needle, Professor in the Departments of Rehabilitation Sciences and Public Health & Exercise Science, discusses his research on the neuromechanics of chronic ankle instability and its implications for a broader array of injuries, including injuries to the ACL. His research has investigated regulation of muscle tone in unstable ankles, neurmechanical coupling in the regulation of joint stiffness, neurological adaptations after ligamentous injury, the effects of transcranial direct current stimulation on chronic ankle instability, and the effects of cognitive loading on motor behavior in injured individuals....among many others. He discusses implications for prevention and rehabilitation of injury.
