Speaker 1:

Well, welcome to the Mindful Bytes podcast, the podcast for all things digital hosted live from the metaverse. I'm Brian, a Gen X leader. I guess a Gen X business leader. Is that what I'm supposed to say? A Gen?

Speaker 2:

X business leader. Yeah, a Gen X leader. You're the leader of the generation.

Speaker 3:

You're leading Gen X. You're the president of Gen X.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we really practiced this preview episode, but this is kind of like what the episodes are going to be like. Yeah, just fun conversations, fun conversations, but we'll get deep in those conversations too. All right, let me go ahead and try this one more time. I'm Brian, a Gen X business leader, who some refer to as the digital guy In this podcast. We have a panel of co-hosts, so let's go ahead and let them introduce themselves to you right now.

Speaker 3:

Hi, I'm Olivia, a social media savvy millennial, here to keep you up to date on the hottest trends and tips.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so, Olivia, what do you mean by savvy? Like what are you trying to say? That's a. This is that what a millennial would say.

Speaker 3:

Totally. Hey, I'm the millennials. They have it all going on. They know new stuff, they know old stuff. You know, know old stuff.

Speaker 1:

You know old stuff? Yeah, that's true. I guess we're going to test that. We're going to test that.

Speaker 3:

Like if every gadget went away. I still know how to process a credit card with like an old piece of paper and a little machine, but I know all the tech stuff too, so watch out.

Speaker 1:

Okay, ashton, introduce yourself. Hi everybody, I'm Ashton, your Gen Z tech enthusiast, Always on the hunt for the coolest gadgets and latest innovations.

Speaker 2:

What's your favorite new gadget right now? The LG Wing Isn't that super old.

Speaker 1:

Let's ask the millennial.

Speaker 2:

I mean part of my introduction, might even be calling myself a dinosaur, possibly.

Speaker 1:

Well, who is this dinosaur that's talking right now? I'm curious to know.

Speaker 2:

This is Shauna, and I'm your not-so-tech-savvy Xenial who loves exploring how technology can impact our well-being. I want to look into and find studies that talk about how these technologies and social media and things like that how they impact our mental health, how we can be smarter, about how we use all of these technologies.

Speaker 1:

I just got a voice message in from another co-host that'll be joining us on occasion, so let me go ahead and play this for you guys. Her name is Maggie Thorne.

Speaker 2:

Hi, I'm Maggie Thorne, an American Ninja Warrior. I'll drop in to share some tech warrior insights to our discussions. Brian, do you want to tell us a little bit about why you decided to launch this podcast?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so the idea of this podcast came from me. Spending some time in the metaverse, meeting with other business leaders and collaborating with them, I realized that during our discussions we talked about what we see as a future of business and how we even use these technologies. Comes down to more open collaboration with people in different industries, and I started realizing that a lot of us have similar thoughts about what we're doing right now how these technologies might play in our life, like what the effects might be, and some of them even had similar questions. But not everybody is open to talk about those questions, and the idea behind this podcast was to create a place, a safe place, where we can connect and share and discuss the technology and the digital platforms that we use every day. Now I do want to specify that our goal isn't to have all the answers. It's more about us discussing these things together and asking more questions, using the ART framework, which is something that I created, which stands for Awareness, reflection and Transformation, where we're going to take time, press pause and pay attention to the things that maybe are those gut checks, that something doesn't feel right, and talking about it, reflecting on it and then discussing how that might transform how we move forward. Now in our discussions, I want to encourage everyone and ourselves to ask more questions, because I've been learning that sometimes the best answer to a question is another question. This mindset will help us become more mindful and could lead us to discovering more meaningful insights into what, why, when and how we use these digital platforms and technologies. Moving forward, what mindset are you changing? That's a really good question. This is what I love is we want to focus on asking more questions.

Speaker 1:

When I say this mindset, what I'm referring to is growing up as a Gen Xer or a Gen X, I've kind of lived in an era where we didn't have all this digital technology, and then that technology came in, and now what has happened is this technology has almost gotten a lot of us in the mindset that we have to be doing everything, that we hear all the voices outside telling us we need to do when we need to do it, how often we need to do it, what we need to do, need to do it, how often we need to do it, what we need to do, and it's it's this is a challenge for us to step back and really look at our why and make sure that what we're using, whatever platform it is, or how we're using it and when we're using it, actually aligns with who we are and what our purpose is. That, whether that's in your business, whether that's even in your personal life, it's all right not to do the norm. You know what a lot of people say. These are the best practices, and I know Olivia knows that.

Speaker 1:

Saying a lot, but that doesn't always mean it's the best for everybody. So let's be okay with questioning things, talking about those questions. Does our mindset need to shift a little bit and be more mindful of what we're doing on these platforms?

Speaker 2:

I think that's what one of my strengths will be is challenging if we actually need this new technology that we're talking about or not.

Speaker 1:

That's going to be interesting because, honestly, you don't even think you need to charge your cell phone. The only reason it gets charged is because me or Ashton plugs it in for you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, or I just need to check something real quick, so I'll plug it in long enough to check what I need and then, if it, dies, I don't care.

Speaker 3:

Oh gosh, that gives me the heebie-jeebies thinking about not having a charged cell phone.

Speaker 1:

I think Shauna believes she's setting a new hot trend of cell phones, living at 1%, maybe 3%. That's like 3% is a new 100%.

Speaker 2:

It's a new way of looking at being a 1%-er.

Speaker 3:

Like 1%-er. There you go.

Speaker 1:

Oh boy, there you go With that. If this sounds like a podcast that might be interesting to you, be sure to click, follow or join us. Live in the metaverse of the Killer Bee Studios. Let's explore the world of tech and digital together, one bite at a time.
