Speaker 1:

Yo, what's good. It's King's Perspective, with King Chill back with another one, episode 23 of season 2. Changing it up a little bit I thought doing season 2, episode 1, and then 2 starting over would be kind of a little cheesy. So I'm just going to keep on with the number of episodes as they are, but just going into a new season. So nothing major there. And then, far as the giveaway, you still have time to do the giveaway. Nothing has changed on that.

Speaker 1:

Actually, the easiest way to enter the giveaway is if you type in King's Perspective in Google and then also type in Buzzsprout, it will automatically pull my website for my page. Once you get to the page, once you click on the very top, search will be for my website there. And once you get to the page, it's going to have a list of every episode. Once you find the episode that was your favorite, what you're going to do is click on that episode. Once you find the episode that was your favorite, what you're going to do is click on that episode. So, whether it be episode 17 or episode nine, you will click on that one, and then there's going to be a option there that says send direct chat or text, and you would click on that button. And you would click on that button and when you click on that button it's going to allow you to send a message as to why that particular episode was your favorite and why. And then it's going to go to fan mail, which will be direct inbox for me and I'll be able to read it. And then that's where I will be choosing the random winner for episode 25 giveaway for the $25 gift card. So again, you have time. We're at this point. We've got two more episodes to go until the winner is chosen. So again, you've got time. Really thrilled to see who is the winner from two episodes from now.

Speaker 1:

But let's go ahead and get the episode started here with film. So here are some of the most popular movies available right now. Last Stop in Yuma Country, a smart, tautly constructed crime thriller with fresh twist. It follows a traveling young knife salesman awaiting his next fuel truck stop in Arizona at a rest stop. And then Challengers I've talked about that before here, but if you're not familiar, let me give you a refresher. This movie stars Zendaya as T'Shea Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach, with an outstanding performance. It's a kinetic and sexy romp at the court. Now films to keep an eye out for.

Speaker 1:

For this upcoming week we have Bad Boys Ride or Die. So synopsis I have here for you is detectives Mike Lowry and Marcus Burnett find themselves in an investigating corruption within the Miami PD. Their late captain, conrad Howard, is accused of being involved with a Romanian mafia. However, a setup turns them into fugitives, forcing them to work outside a law to solve the case. So based on the previews, you can tell that. But that's pretty interesting.

Speaker 1:

I've seen pretty much every bad boys film so I'll be very interested to see this one here and see if it holds true if their actual captain was dirty or not. But generally the chemistry with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence is really well. They have the good cop, bad cop, straight-laced versus the unconventional thinking. But generally, though, I will say this Besides what's been happening with Will Smith, you know, recovering from the Oscars with the slap, generally whenever he attaches himself to Bad Boys, that franchise and him and Martin get together, it's always a great time on film with the chemistry between the two of them. So this one here definitely should pay off and maybe even have people forget about the slap a little bit, because, just like in sports, if you're winning, everybody forgets about what the previous acts were or what got you in hot water and trouble. So if this really wows them, the audience, and draws in big numbers, I mean the slab has slowly been fading away, but this will really help him in his career for that to be forgotten.

Speaker 1:

We have Watchers Now. This film here has been advertised by every commercial known to man. This commercial, every commercial break known to man here, and it's produced by M Night Shy shamalon, uh, so you know what to expect with him a lot of twists and turns. You don't really know what to expect, uh, other than if you have your set self set up high for expectations that this is really going to be a great film. You're going to be easily let down and and ticked off by the end of the film. So go with low expectations for this film. But Watchers, it states.

Speaker 1:

The story revolves around a 28-year-old, mina, an artist, who finds herself stranded in a never-ending woods of West Ireland After her car breaks down. Prior to an unfortunate event, mina was on her way to deliver a parrot to a buyer for a good sum of money. However, fate takes a turn as she stumbles upon a mysterious structure in the woods. Okay, and like I said, m Night Shyamalan, based off of my synopsis that I have there for you, take it how you want. Take it with a grain of salt, because you might get in there and that's the premise of the film, how it's supposed to be set up, but it may go totally left.

Speaker 1:

So I know it was the same way with the Village years ago with that film, where it just came to find out that it was like the after it all came out. It was a group of individuals who bought a plot of land in a part of the East coast because they were tired of working on the grid. So they set up a village, like olden times Now. Now, a lot of the children that they had were extremely young, so they didn't know any better. So they went and lived as their parents did and then, as time went on, the offspring and their offspring grew up and they just knew that what they were living as was current times and the families, the elders who had set up this plot of land called it. The village had set up parameters so that if anyone wanted to leave the village, they had these quote unquote monsters in these monster suits that would chase people so that they couldn't try to escape. Um, but yeah, it was. It was crazy finding out the reveal of what the village truly was all about. So again with this one here, uh, the watchers. Who knows exactly what that's going to be about? But, um, I'll be interested to see it as well so I can see what the big twist or plot reveal is.

Speaker 1:

And then, lastly, we have Hitman. The story revolves around Gary Johnson, a New Orleans-based professor who assists the police department with undercover work. When an undercover agent gets suspended, gary steps in and provides this as a hitman. When an undercover agent gets suspended, gary steps in and provides this as a hitman. His colleagues suggest that he becomes their new undercover assassin. And Gary takes on the assignment, Seriously Researching clients to make them more likely to pay for murder, for hire. Along the way he meets Madison, who wants, wants to hire, who wants to hire a hitman to deal with her abusive husband. The film delves into moral ambiguity, identity, identity transformation and making it a captivating.

Speaker 1:

Watch this film here if you're unfamiliar with it. It does. Star Glenn, it's his name. I want to say he's an up-and-coming actor, but he's been working his way up here and he's become very popular as of late. Let me see if I can find his information here. I know it's Glenn Powell. Also, not only does he have this film in the works, but I want to say next month he's got Twisters.

Speaker 1:

Now, if you remember Twister, that was a late 90s film that had, let's see, Twister from 1996. That film had Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt and they were people who chased storms and mainly tornadoes. So with Twisters, this essentially picks up from what I can tell from this one here. So I would probably expect twisters to have essentially some cameos from the old cast with maybe bill paxton or well, I think it's bill paxton. Sorry, I'm glad this is a real-time show. Bill paxton passed away back in 2017. So, with that being said, you won't be having a cameo from him, but Helen Hunt most definitely, and anybody else from that cast. So I'd expect that. But again, long, long-winded there that I got there. But Glenn Powell is the hit man and if you like his work, you'll be seeing him in Twisters.

Speaker 1:

Now, films with great replay value. Now, this one's a little themed here. This is the Adam Sandler version, so I've got a couple films here that I feel were his best works. Now, anybody out there listening. Correct me if I'm wrong or if you want to add something different to the list, please by all means do.

Speaker 1:

But for the first one here I've got Billy Madison. It's about a dim-witted, childish and spoiled 27-year-old heir to the Madison hotels a fortune of 500 chain, 650 hotels funded by his father, retiring tycoon, brian Madison. Billy spends his days drinking with friends and creating disturbances across his father's estate. So to me, I was introduced to this by some middle school friends that said, yeah, you got to check this film out, you got to check this film out. So I had watched SNL growing up and I was familiar already with Adam Sandler and some of his stints that he would do on SNL and I liked those. So I was like, well, if he's starring in his own film, this will be great, right? So Billy Madison was the first film ever that I had seen him star in as the main star and didn't disappoint, like I said, if he had seen what he did on SNL. This was just pretty much an extension here with Billy Madison but him having to go through the ranks of going back and going to school from grades one through 12 and actually having to pass on his own merit without having his dad interfere and pay was something that was funny. And then if he passed and graduated, then he would be the heir to the Madison hotels and take over the family business.

Speaker 1:

I would probably say it's not the funniest scene, but I think the funniest scene was when Billy was trying to get with, I want to say I think it was his fourth grade teacher, I think her name was Veronica Fox, and he had his friend, ernie call the teacher, which nowadays you wouldn't do that. But he had Ernie call and was trying to get a filler out to see who Miss Fox actually liked. And Ernie brought up Billy's name and she said no, he's not mature enough and no, I need a real adult. And then Billy was on the other end of the phone and basically said oh, I'll show you an adult. And then Ms Fox chimes in and is like what? And then Billy's like, oh, still speaking in Ernie's voice because he took over the conversation at that point, and I was like nothing, miss Fox, I've got to go, we'll talk to you later. So then he looks at Ernie and then he screams and blurs out. You blew it only as Adam Sandler could, in a distraught way, but it was funny though, because it's like why would you send a child to do a man's job Like it was? It was just super crazy. And then we have the wedding singer.

Speaker 1:

All of you have probably seen Wedding Singer. If you haven't, it's definitely probably by far one of the prime Adam Sandler films. So this one here we have. Robbie is eager preparing his own wedding to his fiancee, linda. However, things take an unexpected turn when Linda changes her mind at the altar, leaving Robbie heartbroken and humiliated. Leaving Robbie heartbroken and humiliated as he grapples with the depression. He befriends Julia Sullivan, a new waitress at the reception hall where he works. Julia is engaged to Glenn Guglia, a businessman and bond investor, but their wedding date remains uncertain. So, yeah, this I just saw recently and it still holds up as one of the best films by adam sandler.

Speaker 1:

Again, um, I think, uh, seeing the breakup between him and linda at the altar and him having a breakdown, him picking himself back up through, uh, julia, um, who actually honestly liked him and just didn't know how to say it because she was basically engaged to be married. But you see the maturation process between the two of them, of them becoming friends and slowly turning into lovers, but it was forbidden because she was getting ready to be married. But they always had these opportunities where it was like they had time to confess their feelings for one another. But something would always happen. She would see something that made her be turned off and was like, okay, no, I can't do this, or he would see something as well and feel the same way. But overall, those are the best two Adam Sandler films that have great replay value. If I were to add another one, it would be Happy Gilmore as my third choice. Third choice would be Happy Gilmore. But again, if you guys have any other choices out there that you would say, hey, no, let's do away with these. I've got three. That would definitely be better. Please feel free to leave that in the comments. That would definitely be better. Please feel free to leave that in the comments.

Speaker 1:

Now, famous musicians from the state of Iowa. We have Corey Taylor from Slipknot, an alternative heavy metal music band. Corey Taylor is the lead singer and lyricist of the metal band Slipknot, an alternative rock band Stone Sour, born in Des Moines, iowa. Taylor referred to himself as the best singer in des moines when joining slipknot. The band's album iowa solidified their reputation as heavy metal for selling over 30 million records worldwide.

Speaker 1:

Let me just do a quick dive here. Born and raised in Iowa, um, and I can tell you straight up, yeah, um, mid 90s, late 90s, you can't go anywhere without hearing about Slipknot. And the funny thing is I had a kid or a classmate that was cousins with um one of the other musicians, a guitarist in Slipknot. And then Small World is that the kid that I went to school with, his aunt worked with my mother and she would always tell my mother about how the progression of the band was doing and giving little demo tapes here and there for me to listen to their, their music. So, yeah, definitely familiar with Slipknot. And then we have Andy Williams, one of the most well-known singers of all time. Andy Williams had 43 recorded albums and 15 goals certified and three platinum certified. His musical legacy continues to resonate. So I think 80 might rival you if he were still alive, uh, cory, and say that he was actually the best vocalist or singer out of the state of iowa.

Speaker 1:

Here are some recent releases that you might find interesting. Dua Lipa Illusion a pop superstar. Dua Lipa's third taste from the upcoming album Radical Optimism takes us back to her disco pop sweet spot with a catchy dance all night, and then Sabrina Carpenter Expresso, if you prefer, laid back disco pop. Sabrina Carpenter's new single has covered the alluring track features Carpenter playfully positioning herself as a caffeinated beverage, keeping boys thoughts racing and sleepless. If you're not familiar with her meaning Sabrina Carpenter, easiest way to put it is if you're familiar with Boy Meets World they did a spinoff, meaning they did a spinoff. Girl Meets World, where Corey has a daughter, corey and Topanga have a daughter and their daughter's best friend is named Maya, played by Sabrina Carpenter. So if you're not familiar with her, go back and look at that show. Or if she looks familiar and you're like, oh, I can't put my finger on it, I know I know her from somewhere.

Speaker 1:

That's where, from the reboot, good vibes only Summer short playlist. We have Pharrell's Happy. We have Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson Uptown Funk. We have Pharrell's Happy. We have Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson Uptown Funk, haley Steinfeld and Gray featuring Zedd Starving, demi Lovato, cool for the Summer and Chris Malachick so Good to Me. Now, again, that playlist is short. So if anyone thinks that their playlist is better for a top five that gets you going good vibes only please leave it in the comments and let me know Sports MOB the Negro League statistics will be officially integrated to the MOB database as of 5-29.

Speaker 1:

So that's just happened already. Negro League's legend Josh Gibson will become the MLB record holder in multiple categories. Let's just say some of the old timeys, or the old heads, are not going to like that To see the likes of Babe Ruth, ted Williams, mark McGuire, sammy Sosa, hank Aaron, barry Bonds all coming down that list or coming down a peg or two, because Josh Gibson records are being integrated from the Negro Leagues. But they had been talking about doing that for quite some time and this finally happened happened and it's good to see that MLB is now encompassing all facets of baseball. Before MLB was a thing. So be on the lookout for more integration of stats from different leagues. Yankee slugger Aaron Judge has homered in four consecutive games, tying for MLB lead with 17 home runs. The Yankees continue to perform well with strong pitching and power hitting.

Speaker 1:

The NBA sad news Hall of Famer center Bill Walton has a who was an NBA MVP finals MVP was an NBA MVP, finals MVP and named the NBA's 50th and 75th anniversary team, passed away at the age of 71. Current legends, current players and members of the basketball community have sent their condolences. Boston Celtics securing a thrilling victory against the Indiana Pacers, game four of the 2024 Eastern Conference Finals. The Celtics emerged victorious, defeating the Pacers with a final score of 105-102. With this win, the Celtics complete the series and sweep the Pacers, advancing to the NBA Finals. On to another series out of the West for the Western Conference Finals, the Timberwolves were looking to force a game six by relying on their defensive pressure and the play of Carl Anthony Towns, but the Dallas Mavericks emerged victorious with a final score of 124-103, heading to the NBA Finals. So now you've got the Boston Celtics out of the East, dallas Mavericks out of the West, which I kind of pretty much already talked about in the last episode with my prediction stating that that would happen.

Speaker 1:

The NHL in a thrilling Game 3, alexis Lafreniere, if I'm pronouncing his last name correctly, scored twice in overtime to help the New York Rangers take a series lead against the Florida Panthers. And then Leon DeSanto has been on fire for Edmonton Oilers with 25 points in 14 playoff games, putting him at another level during the post season. And then in the NFL, the league is already hyping up week eight showdown between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Philadelphia Eagles. The game features a collegiate match between quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Jalen Hurts. Interestingly, it has been listed as one of the possible 10 best games for the entire season. So we'll have to keep a look out on that Bengals and Eagles game to see if it really holds its weight in gold with that hype Now.

Speaker 1:

Last year, while he was a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, brian McManus faced allegations of both sexual assault. Two women, both flight attendants on the plane, filed a lawsuit against McManus accusing him of assault. Witnesses claim alcohol was definitely on the Jaguars plane. The complaint suggests that the Jaguar players brought alcohol onto the plane, which is strictly prohibited by the league policy during team travel. So we'll have to keep an eye on this McManus case here and see if this is a possibility of what these cases of assault do. They in turn null and void his contract and is he up for suspension or out of the league? Last I saw he was gearing up to sign with a team but the team had no idea about this. These allegations and now are reconsidering signing him at this point Now. Television here are some of signing him at this point Now.

Speaker 1:

Television here are some of the current popular television shows people are enjoying. So we have Tire, season 1, a sitcom that kicks around Shane Gillis' self-aware persona, but it needs more inspiration to gain traction. Okay, outer Range, season 2. A mysterious series with better character development and willingness to get weirder. Now some shows to be looking forward to within the upcoming week. We have Acolyte. It's a part of the Star Wars franchise and is set at the end of the High Republic era, approximately 100 years before Star Wars Episode I, the Phantom Menace. The show follows a respected Jedi Master who investigates a series of crimes leading to a conflict with a former Padawan learner and the revelation of sinister forces. Now we have another show that's going to be premiering around the same time, but solely on FX, hulu Clipped.

Speaker 1:

The series delves into the downfall of the Los Angeles Clippers. When have they ever not been on a downfall? It's like that franchise is cursed. It's like that franchise is cursed Owner Donald Sterling during the NBA team, during the NBA team campaign to win a championship under coach Doc Rivers. The scandal unfolds as Sterling's dysfunctional marriage and mistress lead to a recording leak, significantly impacting the Clippers organization. Yeah, at that point in time when this happened, I want to say it was in 2014,. When that leak happened, all the momentum flew out of the cell for that team. Deandre Gordon, deandre Jordan was great, chris Paul was great and then, leading the charge, you had Blake Griffin. The team was doing magnificent. But once that leak happened, man, and they were in the playoffs, it was just like at that point they couldn't recover and it was pretty much their downfall. I feel like, had that not happened, that team probably would have won a championship that year. They were destined for greatness at that point, but it just didn't happen.

Speaker 1:

Let's see here Shows with great replay value. We've got Moesha, a series that stars R&B singer Brandi Norwood as Moesha Denise Mitchell, an African-American teenager living with her upper middle class family in the Lemur Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, california. The show follows Moesha's life and times as she navigates the challenges of growing up, dealing with family dynamics, friendships and relationships. Now, I seldomly watch Moesha, but I'm familiar with Moesha the cast, things of that nature but it just wasn't my cup of tea. But I gotta give credit where credit is due, gotta give props where props is due. It was a popular show and it did, I want to say, with Countess Fawn as Moesha's best friend on the show. I want to say that Moesha helped the spinoff of the Parkers but correct me if I'm wrong but I want to say it did help Countess Vaughn get her spinoff show for the Parkers With Monique and Countess Vaughn, which premiered on, I want to say, the CW and then later BET.

Speaker 1:

And then we have the Boondocks. The show followed the dysfunctional Freeman family as they moved from south side of Chicago to the white suburbs of Woodcrest. Through the use of satire, the Boondocks dissect American politics from the black perspective, making statements like Jesus was black, ronald Reagan was the devil and the government was lying about 9-11. Yeah, probably one of the best animated shows that you can find, and it's exactly how I gave you that synopsis. I would probably say it was season one. I think it would have been for me.

Speaker 1:

I know it's wrong, but when Granddad gets into it with Stinkmeater, who's a blind, old, decrepit man who goes through this, the town of Woodcrest, causing nothing but chaos and destruction, as a blind man of Woodcrest, causing nothing but chaos and destruction as a blind man, and somehow it all starts from him meaning Stink Minter walking on the shoes of granddad and not apologizing for it, well, that was basically disrespect. That's a no-no. And especially in the black community. White shoes brand new white shoes at that getting scuffed or getting marked on by somebody on purpose very malicious and there's no apology behind it to disprove that it was malicious or on purpose that ultimately causes a scene for a fight to go down, which they eventually set up. It wasn't until Granddad's grandson, huey, realized that he truly was a blind man. That was just based on luck. The fight that they set up should not have never happened. The fight that they set up should not have never happened and essentially, granddad ended up killing the blind man in the fight just to try to get his respect and prove that he wasn't a punk. But yeah, there's countless, countless, countless, countless episodes. I believe it went for four seasons. But Aaron Magruder, the brains behind the boondocks, is man, genius, genius, genius, genius.

Speaker 1:
