King’s Perspective Outro

Speaker 1:

Yo yo yo. Welcome back to the King's Perspective. I am King Chyll and this is episode 27,. Consecutive, consistent yes, that's right. I can say that now for once, because I am back and I've been able to record these episodes back to back now, so it's consecutive, consistent. Again, I do appreciate all my loyal listeners for coming out and listening to the show, because without you this show does not exist. So again, welcome back to the show where I talk all things film, music, sports, television and video games, where I essentially just put you up on game on the weekly happenings for this week so that you can discuss it amongst yourself, friends, family, significant other, whoever.

Speaker 1:

But you know, the goal of the show is just to basically help you pass the time, whether you're listening to it actively or not, or you're doing errands or doing chores in the house. And then you hear that one thing from me that makes you think like oh see, I didn't know that. Or you know what? I don't know, bro, bro capping, right now, let me fact check and make sure that he's telling the truth on that. Or what, know what? I don't know, bro, bro capping, right now, let me, let me fact check and make sure that he's telling the truth on that, or or what he's really saying is clear, or or factual, factual, factually factual, but that's what the show is here to do. You know, I talk my my, my ish, and then you basically just listen for entertainment value, and sometimes you will go back and fact check me or not, but either way, the show is here to entertain.

Speaker 1:

So let's go ahead and get you started off with the happenings of what's popular in film right now. So we have A Quiet Place. Day one has an 87% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. This one's more grounded in humanity. This is a sequel to A Quiet Place, the first one, and it introduces fresh frights amidst the silence. So we have Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn from Stranger Things. Horizon, an American Saga, chapter 1 has a 46% rating. This is Kevin Costner's baby right here. Right now. It's not doing so hot. I think, though, with this film, since it's dealing with Civil War, a time period piece that maybe some people just aren't interested in isn't doing so hot, and the sad thing about this is too. Actually, kevin Costner actually put up his own hard earned money, his life savings but half, and he's got two more chapters to go with this. The second chapter releases sometime this year, third chapter later on into 2025. So we'll have to see how it goes because, you know, all jokes aside or critiquing aside, I really hope that it does well for him, because there's nothing worse than putting out your best work and it's not received well. Inside Out 2 has a 90% rating and doing a billion plus at the box office.

Speaker 1:

This one's spicing up the emotional intelligence of the predecessor. I actually went to go see the film with the kiddos about last weekend and it kept my attention span for about an hour. And then the last 30 minutes I kind of was dozing off and on and it was like when I got to that point I was like, hey, I'm just ready for this film to be over. I think I was going through two emotions myself at that film One that was blah and the other anxiety. Like you know, when is it going to be over? When is it going to be over? When is it going to be over? Because I want to keep falling asleep in this movie theater. But overall I mean it was good. You know, from the first hour that I watched it didn't quite keep my, didn't quite keep my intention, like the first one that was released a few years back, but again, I mean, you know it's entertainment purposes. Maybe it wasn't just for I mean, I knew it truly wasn't for me, but you know, at least the kiddos got something out of it.

Speaker 1:

And then, lastly, family Affair has a 41% rating. This stars Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman. Zac Efron is a star being managed by someone younger than him, but he ends up falling in love with his manager's mom. So it's a bit taboo because he's a bit of a younger person, she's a bit of an older person. They're trying to make this crazy relationship work through the angst and pains of getting side eyes and whispers and comments from those when they walk in together, do things together, but it's a bit of a rom-com for you. So if you like those, then this is your film.

Speaker 1:

Now on to new releases for this week. So just Friday we have Fly Me to the Moon. The film follows a marketing maven, kelly Jones, as she wrecks havoc on the launch director, cole Davis. Already difficult task Brought to fix NASA's public image. Jones faces sparks flying in all directions when the White House deems this mission too important to fail. So Jones is directed to stage a fake moon landing as a backup and the countdown begins Now. This film stars Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansson. So if you like those two actors and it's a bit of a rom-com as well this is your film.

Speaker 1:

Long Legs this film was set in the 1990s and revolves around FBI agent Lee Harker, who was assigned to an unsolved case involving the satanic serial killer say that seven times fast, known as Longlegs. As the investigation deepens and occult evidence emerges and Harker discovers a personal connection to the killer, she must act swiftly to prevent another family murder. So this film stars Nicolas Cage, mika Monroe, alicia Witt, kiernan Shipka and Blair Underwood. So if you're into horror thrillers, this is your film. I've actually been hearing people actually rave about how they can't wait to see Long Legs, so this is your film. And then, lastly, rounding out with new films, we have Sing Sing. The drama is based on real life rehabilitation through the arts program at Sing Sing Maximum Security Prison. The story centers around a group of inmates who participate in creating theatrical stage shows through the program.

Speaker 1:

Now this film stars the cast of Coleman Domingo, which he's been getting heaps of praise for his fashion sense here recently at every awards show. I mean, dude can wear a peanut butter and jelly suit and people would think it's the greatest thing. But you'll probably remember Coleman Domingo from things like Rustin, color, purple, fear, the Walking Dead, zola what else do we got here? Euphoria Candyman He'll be Joe Jackson in the Michael Jackson film in 2025. Let's see what else is. If Beal Street could talk. You've got a bevy of films there for Mr Coleman Domingo that he's been in, that he's known for. You also have the supporting cast here in Paul Raci, clarence Macklin and Divine G. So those are your new films for Friday to look out for. And now we've got films with great replay value.

Speaker 1:

Now I've got three extra that I've added to this list because a good friend of mine by the name of Green Lantern Gaming from X, formerly known as Twitter, wanted to add a couple films to this list. He said that they should be checked out. So I said, hey, let's go ahead and add them. So my films that I have here that you should check out with great replay value is Get Out.

Speaker 1:

The film stars is about Chris Washington, a young black man who uncovers shocking secrets when he meets the family of his white girlfriend, rose Armitage. As Chris spends time with Rose's family, he witnessed eerie behavior from the Black servants and discovers disturbing truths about the estate. Essentially, just to kind of give it away, is that all that is true? Chris goes there, but there's a program that Rose's mother and father have created, with the grandparents as well, called Caliquala, if I'm pronoun, using them as vessels, because they felt that the black body was built to withstand for the test of time Because, like they said, black don't crack. But what they were doing was transplanting the conscience of white individuals into black individuals. So they are basically taking out the brain of a Black person and throwing it away. Well, no, no, no, no. They were keeping some of the brain to have some conscience in there, but for the most part, the white skull or the white brain would be put in there with a fraction of the Black brain. I know it sounds weird, but they were doing that. So they were just finding random black people that kind of felt a particular that's the word I'm looking for physique, and they had to be healthy in order to use physique, and they had to be healthy in order to use. So Chris was one of the test experiments because he was physically fit and he seemed to be smart.

Speaker 1:

Her the story is set in the near future in Los Angeles revolves around Theodore Twombly, a lonely, introverted man who works for a business that is that composes personal letters for people. Theodore develops an unexpected relationship with Samantha, an artificially intelligent virtual assistant personified through a female voice. The film explores themes of love, intimacy and connection. But with that film basically to me, when I watched it, theodore finally found the perfect person for him. But the sad part about it was it was in the form of AI. But I mean, it was darn near perfect for him in the sense of everything he wanted in the conversation, the caring, the love and support. But with that being said, with the AI it just wasn't specific to him. It was actually being used for everyone else. So he thought what he had in this AI was special, but it wasn't, because what's the best way to put it? She was for everybody. Everybody got a turn. It's essentially like if everybody well, everybody has Siri, but if there was a way for everybody to have a personal, intimate relationship with Siri essentially is what happened there. So it's like what if we push the boundaries for Siri? This is what it will look like A Quiet Place.

Speaker 1:

The story revolves around a family Mother Evelyn, father Lee and their children, reagan and Marcus, struggle to survive in a world overrun by blind extraterrestrial creatures with an acute sense of hearing. So, yeah, I, after getting the hype of A Quiet Place Day 1, I had to go back and see what all the fuss was. So I went and watched one and two and I must say, john Krasinski I don't know if this is like his baby, his brainchild, like he created all this by himself himself or, you know, with help but I would say like it's a very fresh and unique film um, you know, definitely, uh, with the take on aliens. Um, so, yeah, I was hooked. After seeing the first one, I had to watch the second one. Uh, great, great, great, great film. Um, at some point I will will watch A Quiet Place Day One. Just got to get around to it.

Speaker 1:

Now for Green's Picks, he chose three films and his three films were Mr Holland's Opus. The story revolves around Glenn Holland, a talented musician composer from Portland, oakland. In 1964, he takes a position as a music teacher at John F Kennedy High School to spend more time with his family and work on his symphony. Over the next 30 years he connects with students through rock and roll, creates a school marching band and faces personal challenges, including raising a profoundly deaf son. So this star has a main headliner, richard Dreyfuss, and I believe as well Terrence Howard. I remember the role that he had was playing percussion and not being able to do that well, which is sad because you're black and you have no rhythm, and it took Richard Dreyfuss character to help him get his rhythm. But overall though, I did watch this film a couple times and I did thoroughly enjoy it.

Speaker 1:

Now green's second pick Murder and the First as a 17-year-old orphan, henry Young steals $5 for the grocery store to feed his family. No, not feed his. Well, yeah, essentially feed his family, but feed himself and his little sister. His crime is upgraded to a federal offense due to the store housing a US post office. So Young is sentenced to Leavenworth Penitentiary and later transferred to Alcatraz. There he faces oppression from Associate Prison Warden Milton Glenn from Associate Prison Warden Milton Glenn. After participating in an escape attempt, young is punished and sent to solitary confinement for three years. The extreme isolation causes him to lose his sanity. Upon release he experienced a psychotic episode and commits a murder in the prison cafeteria. So it's from what I've seen on the trailer. It's debated whether or not he did commit this murder. So that's what the whole film is about essentially trying to exonerate Henry Young, and this is really based on a true story. And then, lastly, we have Repo man in the near future, around 2025. So that's like a year from now. So maybe this could come into play.

Speaker 1:

Medical technology has advanced to the point where biomedical organs, known as anti-artificial fogs it it's abbreviated, so I'm just going to say artificial organs can be purchased on credit. The union corporation sells these expensive artificial organs, but the customers, when they fail to make payments, the company sends rootless repo men forcibly to repossess the organs, often resulting in the customer's death. Remy and his friend, are Union's top repo man. However, remy's wife, carol, disapproves of his work, especially after the reposition incident at a family barbecue. When Remy himself needs an artificial organ due to a heart attack no, due to heart artificial heart due to to malfunctioning defibrillator. He becomes sympathetic towards the customers and uses repossession form yeah, repossession form unable to lie as a salesman or to kill as a repo man going forward. So that sounds like a very unique film, in a sense of you have artificial organs being used on credit. Which credit is being used now for just about any and everything. But when you're not able to make those payments, they send guys that basically come in and extract those organs that are keeping you alive to kill you, which kills you once they extract it.

Speaker 1:

I have yet to see this film but I, since it's been recommended, I will definitely watch it now, but it's very, very interesting. All right. So on the music, we have Les Paul. No, wait, before I go into that, as far as music goes, now famous musicians from the state of Wisconsin. So we have Les Paul, born Lester William Polsifus, in Waukesha, wisconsin. Les Paul is a true innovator and inspiration for musicians worldwide. His groundbreaking contributions include developing electronic guitar and multi-track recording. His unique sound blends blues, jazz and country, reflecting the diverse musical makeup of the Midwest so famously. I've seen Les Paul being promoted or sold, but I never knew that it came from or named after a musician famous as himself. So now it all makes sense, right?

Speaker 1:

Al Jarreau from Milwaukee native Al Jarreau and incredible vocals, range, innovative jazz stylings, earned him the title of the voice of versatility. Jarreau's ability to easily transition between various genres showcase the electric nature of Wisconsin's music scene. His energetic performance captivated audiences worldwide. During his illustrious career he earned seven Grammy Awards, countless accolades and solidifying his position as one of the most accomplished artists hailing from the Badger State. So give it up for Al Jarreau. Now.

Speaker 1:

This one here shocked me because I had no idea this particular artist was from the Midwest. I was thinking definitely West Coast, but not so born, and I'm butchering his name, but once I get to the stage name you'll know who I'm talking about. Uh Wald Z Valentino Liberace was born in West Allis, wisconsin. This extravagant performer dazzled audience with his virtuosity as a pianist and undeniable showmanship. Blend of classical training and pop sensibilities allowed him to create an incomparable staff embodying the diverse musical influences of time. Often regarded as one of the highest paid entertainers in the world during his heyday, liberace's connection to Wisconsin's vibrant music scene helped foster and showcase his rare talent. So Liberace, midwest, through and through, from Wisconsin. So those are your famous musicians from the state of Wisconsin.

Speaker 1:

All right Now, as of July 12th, music to check out for new releases we have Common and Pete Rock. Out for New releases we have Common and Pete Rock, the Auditorium, volume 1. I think for me, I'm more looking forward to Common. He's a good MC, definitely hip-hop through and through can rap with the best of normal rap probably anybody under the table. To me, common got solidified as an artist that I would say who's good in the hood or get in my book when he released in 2000 let me not get the date wrong. Um, let me get this date up here for you because I want to be precise here.

Speaker 1:

Common B album. So this album here by Common was released in 2005, called B. Now on that album you had tracks like B Go Testify. This is not showing it all correctly. Here we go. So we had B the Corner, go Faithful, testify. Love Is Shy City the Food Live, with a little bit of intro from Dave Chappelle, and it actually was done live for the first time on the Dave Chappelle show, I think on season one or it might have been season two. Real People, they Say and the World is Yours, part one and part two.

Speaker 1:

To me when I I mean this album easily, you pop it in, you can listen to it all the way through. Now a lot of people probably have common going back even further, like the Resurrection, like Water for Chocolate. Can I Borrow a Dollar? Let's see what other albums can we bring up here One Day It'll All Make Sense. Electric Circus I know that's Green Lantern's favorite album, his favorite album, but albums such as that really solidified Common as one of the greatest hip-hop MCs, definitely I would probably say maybe, top 10. Or if not top 10, top 20. We have Eminem. The Death of Slim Shady, coup De Grace, that will be released on July 12th, I believe. I don't think it's his last album, but I think it's the last under the moniker or the alias of Slim Shady. He's already had a couple singles released with that Houdini, which I've talked about before, and then a song called Toby. So it'll be interesting to see how this album shapes up. Epinephrine Romance Untold.

Speaker 1:

Jojo Siwa you know her from Nickelodeon fame, and then special forces that she just did last year over the summer where they trained with the navy seals, and then now her own solo career. So she's got an album coming out called guilty pleasure. And then megan maroney I am I, okay, and then fish evolve Maroney, I am IOK, and then Fish Evolve. So those are the albums that you'll be seeing released this Friday on the 12th, and then we have my own personal favorite here, a little list I created. Sometimes I'll do new acts, sometimes I'll do new music coming out or new albums coming out, but I had space this time to go ahead and showcase my own list, because I didn't really get a chance to do it because at the time, by the time I started the podcast, it was already over.

Speaker 1:

But last year, november was the official hip hop celebrating hip hop for 50 years, I believe. Let me double check Hip hop, 50 years. Yeah, 50th anniversary. So it took place August 11th. 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, but they didn't really start celebrating it until about November. December and the Grammys as well.

Speaker 1:

But here's my list of top 25 essential rap and hip-hop albums that you should check out before you die. So we have Illmatic by Nas Ready to Die by BIG it Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back by Public Enemy Paid in Full by Eric B and Rakim Only Built for Cuban Link by Rakim Rakim. You should know him because he's part of the Wu-Tang Clan. And then, following that up, speaking of Wu-Tang, we have Enter the Wu-Tang 36 Chambers by Wu-Tang Clan. The Chronic by Dr Dre, straight Outta Compton. Nwa Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest Me Against the World by Tupac Jay-Z. We have Reasonable Doubt Death Certificate by Ice Cube. I'd probably say Death Certificate by far is the best best album by Ice Cube and has great replay value.

Speaker 1:

We have Outkast of Quimini, criminal Minded by Boogie Down Productions, beastie Boys, license to Ill the Score by the Fugees, doggy Style by Snoop Dogg. I know a lot of people hold that album in high esteem because it's his debut, because he had been building up a lot of hype. But if you ask me, the best Snoop Dogg album would probably be man. It's a toss up but I feel like it would have been during the time of him signing to no Limit. So he did two albums with Death Row but his first album the roster was full on Death Row you had Dre, you had the Dog Pound Lady of Rage Nate Dog, he had almost everybody on the West Coast right. But when he released his second album, the Dogfather, by then Death Row was a shell of itself. So you didn't even have Dr Dre producing anything because he was off on Aftermath at that point. But once he got off of Death Row, meaning Snoop Dogg, and signed to Master P's no Limit, the first album, the Game Is To Be Sold, not To Be Told, was just a hype. But it was those two albums after that no Limit Top Dog and then Last Mill. Those two albums were bangers.

Speaker 1:

Now to me, out of those two, which one would I say was my favorite? Now to me, out of those two, which one would I say was my favorite? It would have to be no Limit Top Dog. I mean that album was easy listening from beginning to end. It really didn't have any skips. Last Mill was great. It was more commercial, but that one I'm trying to think with the Last meal you had Lay Low it was the main single off that one and that was kind of like a reuniting Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg and then you had the East Siders on there and then Nate Dogg singing the hook at the end. So I mean that was, that was a commercial hit at that point in time. So to me, looking at Doggystyle, I mean it's a good album but again, for me my favorites would be no Limit Top Dog. It really kind of embodied the West Coast, like Doggystyle did.

Speaker 1:

Cypress Hill, cypress Hill Again. Common Resurrection, breaking Atoms by the Main Source Looking for the Perfect Beat Africa Bimbada Strictly Business by EPMD. Oof great group. No One Can Do it Better by the DOC. Raising Hell by Run DMC and then Critical Beatdown by Ultramagnetic MCs. So those are the top 25 albums that you have to listen to before you pass. So if you're interested in some hip hop essential cornerstone albums, those would be the ones you want to listen to Now, moving on to sports, mlb to be exact, the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby will feature a new format.

Speaker 1:

Instead of head to head matchups, all eight participants will compete against each other in the first round. The Milwaukee Bruins or Brewers, sorry have made notable trade acquiring a right hander, aaron Aaron Civil, from the Tampa Bay Rays. In exchange, the Brewers sent infield prospect Gregory Barrows to the Rays. Civil adds much-needed rotation depth to the Brewers, who have been dealing with injuries to several pitchers this season. And then the New York Mets are focused on buying at the trade deadline. Thanks to their recent performance, winning 18 of their last 25 games, they are now within one and a half games of the wildcard spot. The Mets are actively looking to improve the roster.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, at that point in time, like even in the NBA, like I don't want to to use them because we're talking about MLB, but you'll see that all the time where teams that are literally on the bubble, or accustomed to making the playoffs at all-star break, at least in the NBA, will go ahead and make pushes for trades for certain players that they feel are essential to get them over the hump, to not only get them into the playoffs, make a deep playoff run. So it's all about depth and rotation and good good players. Speaking of that, let's move on to the NBA. The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a one-year deal with free agent guard Joe Ingles, reuniting him with ex-Utah Jazz teammates Mike Conley and Rudy Gobert.

Speaker 1:

The Utah Jazz and the Atlanta Hawks have discussed a trade involving Trey Young amid ongoing buzz surrounding Laurie Markkinen. So essentially what it looks like here is that the Utah Jazz need a guard, point guard at that, and Trey Young can play between a point guard and shooting guard. So the Jazz would essentially be looking to get him and then exchange the Utah, not Utah. The Atlanta Hawks would probably get Lori Markkinen how big? So Lori can play like a center power forward role. I so Laurie can play like a center power forward role.

Speaker 1:

I think the trade isn't a big wow factor for me. We'll have to see how the if the trade goes through. We'll have to see how it plays out for both teams Just right now. I think Atlanta has given up on Trey and they're willing to move on with him and try to get a different type of star on the team to go through. And Laurie Markin, I mean again, let's just see how it goes, because I mean Laurie to me isn't someone that I don't know if you can, I don't know if you can really make him your franchise. I feel like he's a good number two guy, but I don't know if you can really make him your franchise. I feel like he's a good number two guy but I don't know if he can be your franchise or cornerstone player to lead you to the promised land. But I mean, could be wrong but we'll have to see. Just right now the showings don't show that way. That's what I'm saying for Laurie, but we'll see. But we'll see.

Speaker 1:

The New York Knicks for Precious Aichua is reportedly open to returning to the Knicks amid their search for a big man in free agency. Yeah, because Precious is actually. I think let me see, because I was just looking him up. Precious actually is a. I think he is a power forward, but he can also possibly slide up to the five and be a small center, but that's rare but more than likely he would probably be playing definitely a power forward, small forward position. But what essentially he's saying? He's happy to come back and play, even though they're searching for someone in his same position. That's essentially better. That can play a power forward, which is the four, and then a center, which is the five. He's like, hey, you know, it's cool, I'll come back, you know I'll be a role player if I have to.

Speaker 1:

Maybe you guys are looking for somebody else who I know you're looking to replace me, but a lot of times that can happen. A team will look for somebody openly in your face and they won't say it, but they just basically their actions, let you know they're looking for somebody to replace you, but a lot of times that doesn't work out because sometimes what they have is probably as good as they're going to get until they find somebody in the draft and let him mature two, three years down the line and then you replace that person on your roster that you're looking to get rid of, because a lot of times you're not going to be able to do a straight up trade for somebody or whoever you're looking for if he's an unrestricted free agent in the free agency, maybe asking more than what you may have for your cap. And with the new NBA rules, with the cap space, the first apron, second apron and third apron tier, where it's basically a lot of restrictions that you have to pay into a luxury tax If you want to keep the team together and then you're being penalized and having fines, or, yeah, no team wants to go into that forward. A lot of these NBA teams are looking to get players for the cheap or get a bargain budget for your superstar, or they're looking to find these cats in free agency or built to the draft. So we'll see how it plays out for Precious here.

Speaker 1:

Now on to the NFL. The Jets running back, breece Hall, who suffered an ACL tear during his rookie season, which would have been for the 2023-2024 season, is now feeling healthier and ready to return for the 2024-2025 NFL season. Despite a solid performance last year, he aims to showcase his full potential this time around. The Miami Dolphins have a new defensive coordinator, anthony Weaver, replacing Vic Fangio. Fangio's approach allegedly led to the loss of respect from the defense, but Weaver's collaborative style should resonate better with players in 2024-2025. And then, after dealing with injuries, defensive tackle Daquan Jones is reportedly feeling 100% and set to play a crucial role on the Bills defensive line this season. All right.

Speaker 1:

And then for the NHL, the Seattle Kraken made history on Wednesday that just passed with the hiring of assistant coach Jessica Campbell, who became the first ever full time female coach behind a National Hockey League bench. So congrats. Kudos to her. The Florida Panthers secure Anton Lindo. Kudos to her, the Florida Panthers secure Anton Lindo. Both parties have agreed to a six year, 30 million contract, one ensuing that the Stanley Cup champions have all eight of their leading scores back to defend the title, which is great.

Speaker 1:

That's why you really ask for it. After you win a championship and you have a winning formula or team there, and you have a winning formula or team there, you want to keep that core nucleus together, so then that way you can run it back and win another champion. Now, nothing's guaranteed, because I see it all the time in a lot of sports, whether it be MLB, nhl, nfl, nba Heck. Just this season in the NBA that comes to mind. The Denver Nuggets had one heck of a season for the 2023-2024 where they won a championship. But this season, man, they struggled. They beat the Lakers in five, but when it came to the second round, going up against the Minnesota Timberwolves, they just lost. They couldn't get it together and lost out on their chances of a repeat. So it's keeping the nucleus together and also making sure that your team is healthy as well. That's the only way you repeat, keeping the winning formula and making sure your team is healthy. Now the Anaheim Ducks have acquired Robbie Fabry and a 2025 fourth-round draft pick from the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for a prospect goalie, gage Alexander. Both teams have confirmed and agreed. So that is the end of our sports segment, and now we move on to the television segment.

Speaker 1:

So here are some popular television shows across different genres and platforms. We have Supacell. The show revolves around a group of seemingly ordinary black people from South London who expectantly develop superpowers. Their shared family history of sickle cell disease unites them and they discover each other while fending off entrapment by secret organizations seeking to control their abilities. The mole Twelve players work together to complete challenges and build a pot of money. However, one player is secretly designated as the mole. The mole's task is to sabotage the group's efforts. As the competition progresses, the players must undergo tests to prove their knowledge of the mole's identity.

Speaker 1:

I've seen them before. When I say it's about a year and a half ago, it's exactly how they say they do these challenges. But there's like an elimination after almost every challenge or every other challenge where they're kind of left breadcrumbs on certain things and they have to guess who they think the mole is, and generally it's only one person. Now I've never seen them catch the mole early on in the series. It's usually towards the very end. But they get close sometimes. But some of these moles are very deceptive and can throw these people off. But some of these moles are very deceptive and can throw these people off. I've seen it where one person was very close to choosing the mole but that mole basically kind of was very conniving and turned on the waterworks and tears and all that good stuff to the person. Basically changed their mind. So, like I said, the mole has to be very cunning, conniving, very charismatic, all that.

Speaker 1:

And then we have Cyberpunk Edgerunners. The animated series tells a standalone 10 episode story set in a technology and body modification obsessed city of the future. It follows a street, follows street kids struggling for survival in a gritty, dystopian world. Unlike typical cyberpunk media, edgerunners expands upon cyberpunk 2077 mythos in a unique way, making it an excellent introduction to the game's universe.

Speaker 1:

And then new releases for this week. We have follow suzy, an american woman living in japan, and sunny and a domesticated robot made by her husband's company, as they uncover the dark truth of what really happened to suzy's husband and the son, who disappeared in a mysterious plane crash. Then, for all our sports enthusiasts, we have the 2024 ESPY Awards are set to be an exciting celebration of sports achievements, hosted by Sierra no, why did I say Sierra? Serena Williams. The star-studded ceremony will air live Thursday, july 11th, at 8 pm Eastern, 5 pm Pacific on ABC from Los Angeles, california. During the event, they'll relive highlight moments of the year, honoring leading athletes and performances and bringing together fan favorites of sports in the industry. And then, lastly, empire of Ocean Park follows Telcott Garland, whose tranquil existence is upended by the death of his father. Mariah Denton, a former journalist and an ardent conspiracy theorist, questions the manner of his death and thinks he was a victim of foul play. So those are the new releases that you'll be seeing coming this week as well.

Speaker 1:

Now television shows with great replay value. We have Top Chef. In this show, chefs compete against each other in various culinary challenges. They're judged by a panel of professional chefs and other notable forms of food, wine, with one or more contestants eliminated in each episode. The final challenge typically involves creating a four-course progressive meal. The winner receives $250,000 and the covenant title of Top Chef. A favorite of mine here is how to Make it in America.

Speaker 1:

The show follows the lives of Ben Epstein and his friend Cam Calderon as they hustle their way through New York City's fashion scene. Determined to achieve their version of the American dream. Ben and Cam use their street smarts and connections to make a name for themselves in the competitive fashion industry. Along the way, they encounter obstacles that require ingenuity to overcome with the help of friends and family. It's a shame, though, because I just finished that show and watched it for the first time on HBO Max last year. It only ran for two seasons and they said it was cut short due to viewership and lack of funding for the show, I guess, but to me each season seemed to ramp up the stakes for Ben and Cam. The first season got you the introductory, but then you see them actually break through at the end of the season. And then season two showed them with the struggles of finding proper business partners, patents for the clothing that they had, consignment, you name it and then finally breaking free of partnerships for for cosigns essentially, and going independent because they had finally garnered enough money. But to me, again, that show was great. It was a shame that it ended as soon as it did, honestly.

Speaker 1:

And then Fargo from FX is the American Black Comedy Crime Drama Television Series. It's based on the 1996 film of the same name, which was written and directed by the Coen brothers. The show takes place in American Midwest, primarily Minnesota, within the same continuity as the film. Fargo follows an anthology format, with each season set in different eras and locations of Minnesota, mostly with new characters and cast. But yeah, I want to say season one by far was the best of Fargo. Let me give you the cast of season one, because that by far was the best one. Honestly, I've watched every season after that but it just it was hard to watch because it just wasn't as great as season one. So we've got Colin Hanks, martin Freeman, we have Alison Tolman, billy Bob Thornton, bob Odenkirk, joey King, keith Carradine, and the list goes on. But all those actors made season one basically what it was and basically kicked the door off the hinges, which paved way for season two, three, four and five, for season two, three, four and five. So yeah, with that being said, I would say I could definitely re-watch season one over and over and over. Not a knock against season two, three, four or five, but season one definitely set it off All right.

Speaker 1:

And then, to end our show, we will lead into video games. So just some of the happenings here in video games. Very, very short, not much happening right now. The future lies in subscription-based streaming services, which benefit both players and game companies. These services offer convenient access to a wide range of games. So PlayStation, right now, playstation Network adds a subscription that you can pay monthly, which I do.

Speaker 1:

So you have different tiers. You've got a tier three, tier two and tier one, and the difference is in price that you would pay out throughout the year, but the benefits and perks are discounts with tier two, berks are discounts with tier two, and they also offer free video games AAA games that are no longer in circulation, but just games that are for free, that you can play just as long as you have the membership. Now the last tier, which would be tier one, is the highest tier and it's the most expensive Not too expensive, but it's kind of expensive and it offers the highest tier and it's the most expensive not too expensive, but it's kind of expensive. And it offers the same thing um, more access to video games, more bigger discounts. So when you go and buy from the playstation network store, you get a hefty discount for the most part and other benefits and perks. Um, so you have that. And then also some games also that you buy have what's DLC or download content which can kind of be subscription based as well within the streaming. So PlayStation isn't the only one that's doing it, xbox does that as well. But that's what they're doing here Just offering incentives to one, get you to buy a game console and then two to get you out there to buy video games.

Speaker 1:

Because a lot of times, if you subscribe to these subscription based things, it may allow you to play a video game that you never would have thought of or gave a chance. Well, now you're giving it a second chance because you're getting it for free and let's say, for instance, you no longer want to do the subscription but you really like that game. Well, now you may go and actually buy that game based off of being able to test that game through the subscription process. So subscriptions. It has its pros and cons, but I would say it has more pros and cons and has more benefits to it going that route.

Speaker 1:

Some of these games we want to talk about here, just real briefly an action RPG developed from software and published by Bandai Namco, featuring a dark fantasy world in a collaboration with author George RR Martin, paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door a beloved RPG game that returned with a Switch release, captivating the nostalgia of the original game. Returned with a Switch release, captivating the nostalgia of the original game, final Fantasy VII Rebirth, a PlayStation 5 title that continues its epic saga of Cloud and his companions and the world of Gia G-A-I-A. I hope I'm pronouncing that correctly. Green, you and Hollow J play Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Am I pronouncing it correctly? Is it G-A-I-A? Let me know. Tomorrow, after I release the episode and you listen to it, let me know. But anywho, that ends the segment of the show here.

Speaker 1:
