Speaker 1:

Welcome back to the King's Perspective. This is King Chill and this is episode 28. Yes, that's right, episode 28. Consecutive, consistent.

Speaker 1:

I am back in a major way, getting ready to kickstart the show here, as I do weekly here. Put you up on game with film, music, sports, television and video games. So let's go ahead and get the show started. Wait, actually, I feel like I'm missing something here. I'm just getting right into the show. Oh, how can I forget loyal listeners? Yes, I appreciate each and every one of you coming out to listen to the show and previous shows because, again, this show does not happen without you. So, again, I appreciate each and every one of you coming out listening to me ramble, yapping, as a new generation would say, just about things that you may already even know. But you just listen to me because you find me entertaining, giving you some of the information here. So, with that being said, let's go ahead and get the show started here with film. So here are some of the most popular movies right now.

Speaker 1:

Beverly Hills Cop Axel F. Detective Axel Foley is back on the beat in Beverly Hills after his daughter's life is threatened. She and Foley team up with a new partner and old pals, billy Rosewood and John Taggart to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy. Up the heat and uncover a conspiracy. Then we have Despicable Me 4, the fourth installment of the franchise. Here we have Gru, the retired supervillain turned stay-at-home dad. Cherishes his family with his three daughters, margo, edith and Agnes. However, the peaceful existence is disrupted when a new villain named Balthazar Bratt enters the scene. From what I've seen thus far about Despicable Me 4, things have been pretty good for it that as far as they named the film and Inside Out 2, both of them have been cooking up in a major way on the charts. So if you haven't seen it you're a big fan of Steve Carell, definitely go check it out. And then, lastly, we have Trigger Warning.

Speaker 1:

Now this here is about Special Forces Officer Parker, who comes home after the news of her father's death. Parker takes ownership of her father's bar in their hometown of Cretan, new Mexico. However, parker soon finds herself at odds with a violent gang that killed her grandfather. Now this film delves into secrets, weapons, trafficking and political intrigue, making it an intense, suspenseful watch. So those are films currently right now that are popular to watch.

Speaker 1:

Now new releases coming out this week we have my Spy, the Eternal City. The film follows a teenager named Sophia. She convinces JJ, a veteran CIA operative, to chaperone her school's choir trip to Italy. Entrant CIA operative to chaperone her school's choir trip to Italy. During the trip they unexpectedly become embroiled in an international terrorist plot. Just like being on vacation, anything can happen. The plot targets CIA chief David Kim and his son Colin, who happens to be Sophia's best friend. And then we have Twisters, which is essentially I don't know if it's like a sequel to Twister from back in 1996. So you know again, I don't know if this is going to span any type of cameos here from the OGs of the original film or not, but we'll have to see OGs of the original film or not, but we'll have to see.

Speaker 1:

But haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years, kate Cooper now studies storm patterns safely in New York City. However, she gets lured back to the open plains by her friend Javi to test groundbreaking new tracking systems. Along the way, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens, a charming but reckless social media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures. As storm season intensifies, kate, tyler, javi and their competitive teams find themselves in a fight for their lives as multiple storm coverage over the central Oklahoma City. And then, lastly, we have Falling or no, no, not Falling, sorry, find Me Falling off a flop album and his biggest hits dwindling popularity. Aging rock star John Allen decides to take a break from his career. To reclaim his spark, he moves to an isolated cliffside home on the idyllic Mediterranean island of Cyphus. His dream of keeping a low profile is derailed when he routinely is confronted by desperate souls and later faced with an even more complicated issue when he's surprised by an old flame.

Speaker 1:

Ok, so those are some of the new films that you can check out this week. Week Now, films with great replay value. In a remote Antarctic, a group of American research scientists at a base camp discover an alien buried in the snow for 100,000 years. When the creature is unfrozen, it begins to wreak havoc, terrorizing the team and taking on the shape of its victims. Yeah, I swear the thing. This film here starring Kurt Russell and Keith David or David Keith sometimes I get his name confused. I swear, for the last five years they keep talking about this film over and over. But I think it's because it's the whodunit style of this film, because the alien basically takes on the form of its victims. But generally what happens is it kills the victim and then shape shifts into that person and then tries to carry on normal as if it never happened. I think the one telltale sign of that film and correct me if I'm wrong it's, uh, not immune to either alcohol or gasoline and it freaks out and that's how you can tell if it's the shape-shifting alien. But overall, the the who done it, the suspense, the thrill and trying to figure out who exactly is the alien or whatever the case may be, has made that a cult classic. We have Stay Tuned.

Speaker 1:

This is one of my favorite films. I actually just watched it the other day, starring John Ritter. The plot revolves around a character he plays called Roy Nabel, a couch potato and struggling plumbing supply salesman, and his neglected wife Helen. After a fight, helen throws one of Rory's old fencing trophies into the TV, leading to a mysterious salesman named Mr Spike offering them a new hightech satellite dish system with 666 channels. However, they are sucked into a hellish television world and must survive twisted versions of shows for 24 hours. Now, it's exactly like that. I remember seeing this for the first time in this film I believe it's 92 or 93. It was very interesting and I can't believe I forgot this film as well out of all the films that I've picked before. I mean, it was actually unique for the time when it came out, with John Ritter as a serious but comedic performance at the same time, and like my synopsis here says, you know, they get sucked into the satellite and it's got the best way to put. It is a satanic spin on a lot of the TV shows that you're watching, like Wayne's World. Well, it's called Dwayne's Underworld. 30 something is now 30 something to life.

Speaker 1:

What was the other one? There was one I think it was like oh, it was wrong because the way the commercial came on on one of the channels, because their kids are at some point the plot, I'm giving it away, but their kids are watching them in real time on on the channel. So they're flipping because they're in order to survive for 24, four hours, they have to find the next door, essentially, which puts them on another channel and another TV show. So, as his son, roy, and Abel's son is flipping, channels routinely has to be introduced to commercials, so they show commercials for television shows, and one of them was two old men sitting on the couch, one talking about. He can't feel his arm and they're in a nursing home and he's like, oh, it's so stiff, it hurts, I can't, I can't feel it, something's wrong. And the other one's like I've gone blind, and they both basically just start passing out and die. And then the show title comes up talking about different strokes uh coming this fall. I'm like yo, this is crazy.

Speaker 1:

But um, you have that, um, Northern exposure uh is literally that. Um, they were um, and one of their challenges they basically had to escape the Northern uh, not only the code, but the Wolves they had. At one time, one of the channels that they had crossed into was like a Tom and Jerry scenario. What else do they have? So, yeah, I mean, and then some of them were movies too, so some of them were plays on, like old films like Humphrey Bogart and Casablanca, a mix. But overall, I mean, the film was very unique, the way it was written and played out as well, so I would definitely recommend that. It's just funny to see how the spin on those shows were. Oh, yeah, also, before I go, you also get a cameo by Salt uh, salt and pepper uh, for a music video, cause they do a spin, a spinoff, uh, or spoof, on MTV. So you have Roy basically in a music video, a hip hop music video with um salt and pepper, but he's dressed up as Prince Um. But overall, again, the film was great. The film was absolutely great.

Speaker 1:

And then, lastly, we have Jackie Brown, a Quentin Tarantino film starring the one and only Pam Greer and Sam Jackson, michael Keaton, let's see Bridget Fonda. I'm forgetting one more person in this film that was a big cameo oh, robert De Niro. So yeah. So the synopsis is essentially this Jackie Brown, a middle aged flight attendant, supplements her income by smuggling arms for a crime kingpin, ordell Robey. Arms for crime kingpin Ordell Robey. When he gets caught, the agents offer him a deal help them apprehend Robey. Well, she gets hot, sorry. However, robey is aware of the threat and tries to eliminate Jackie Without giving too much of a way. She devises a plan to play both sides where she basically manipulates Odell to have him bring all his money from a foreign bank to America so that the feds can basically get it. But then also the feds get duped because she doesn't actually give them all the money. She does this weird exchange with different players who aren't involved in the essential heist in a mall and a shopping mall How's the word? I'm looking for Shopping malls, stores, outfits, changing room. There we go and I know I'm butchering it exactly to how it's actually going down. But essentially Jackie Brown is pretty much the smartest and plays it to the end where she outsmarts the officers and outsmarts Odell.

Speaker 1:

But again, for me, when you look at Quentin Tarantino films, some of them are a little bit over the top. They come off some of the films a little bit superhero-ish, like Pulp Fiction, django, what else? Inglourious Bastards. Films like those are high in action. They always come off to me like very, or Once Upon a Time in Hollywood films that come off a little bit more off the top, even Reservoir Dogs to me, um, came off of it, uh, high action, over the top, superhero, almost like. So those films that are very action packed for him, um, like I said, I almost classify them like superheroes films. But this one here is very grounded, um, and the plot's very easy to understand and also just kind of figuring out how this is going to play out is great, all right. So we're going to get into the genre here, the music genre, which I know we all love.

Speaker 1:

So famous musicians from the state of Illinois we have Styx, formed in 1972. Styx is a solidified its place as one of the best musical artists of Illinois. With their unique blend of progressive rock, hard rock and pop elements, the Chicago-based band captured the hearts and ears of generations of fans. Their existence of an arsenal of hit songs such as Come, tell Away, renegade and Mr Roboto, curtis Mayfield. Born and raised in Chicago, curtis Mayfield was a multifaceted artist known for his soulful voice, innovative guitar playing and poignant songwriting as a driving force behind impressions, as well as a successful solo career. Mayfield's impact on soul music and social activism is undeniable. His influential body of work includes songs such revered as Move On Up, people Get Ready and Superfly. I'm pretty sure you've heard Superfly. You couldn't have gone anywhere during the 70s heck now and not hear that song get played every so often.

Speaker 1:

Let's see Miles Davis, one of my favorites jazz. Well, you know what? You can't even really classify Miles as jazz musician or artist. Miles is just Miles. He's literally miles ahead, as they say, born in Alton and raised in East St Louis. That's not to get confused with Missouri, but it is literally East St Louis, illinois. Miles was a groundbreaking jazz musician who forever changed the face of music. As one of the most respected figures in jazz history, miles was known for his remarkable ability and creativity to evolve throughout his career, continuously. Notable works such as Kind of Blue I'm naming this title, so please don't shoot the messenger. This is literally the title of his album. Bitches Brew showcases immersed talent and impact on the genre, solidifying him as a true Illinois luminary.

Speaker 1:

Reo Speedwagon. Hailing from Champagne, reo Speedwagon rose to fame in the 1970s with their powerful blend of rock and pop ballads. Their classic hits, including Take it on the Run, keep on Loving you and Can't Keep Fighting this Feeling, have stood the test of time and remain fan favorites today. With decades of success under their belt, reo Speedwagon is undoubtedly one of Illinois' most cherished musical treasures. And then, lastly, a bit controversial, but one of my favorites as well, mr Kanye West.

Speaker 1:

Now, if we're going to do acts from Illinois right, and we do it like based off hip hop, I mean you have Kanye. Like I said, some people would say, hey, you're forgetting comment. And I mean, trust me, I went through this list, it was hard to pick, you know, from a hip hop artist. Like I said, you've got Kanye, you got Common Twista, do or Die. Crucial Conflict. I feel like I'm missing somebody else, but if I do, please hit me up on Twitter. That's not even Twitter anymore, it's X at King Chill and that's spelled K-I-N-G-C-H-Y-L-L, and remind me of saying hey bro, you forgot somebody from the shy, so-and-so. Uh, like I said, I chose Kanye cause he's.

Speaker 1:

He's a dual threat in the sense of he raps, he produces uh, his production of beats just ugh. I don't have time to talk about it, but it just it's crazy. Um, acting Just I don't have time to talk about it, but it just it's crazy acting on film and even outside in the real world. His acting is interesting and even his political run that he tried to do for a time period. But overall, kanye definitely gets a nod as being someone that you should herald from the shy, that you should herald from the shy.

Speaker 1:

Few artists have had a profound impact on contemporary music as the Chicago native, sean Kanye West. Since bursting onto the scene with his debut College Dropout in 2004, west has consistently pushed boundaries that he has, both musically and artistically, that he has His groundbreaking production again. I don't have enough time to talk about it, but just know his production is bar none. Style and penchant for genre blending have marked him as Illinois' most iconic musical artist, with songs like Go Digger Stronger and Jesus Walks. You know what I would have loved to see If Curtis Mayfield was still around and he got production from Kanye West, or if Kanye West would have gone into the jazz realm and been able to do something with Miles Davis. That would have been awesome All right now still sticking with music.

Speaker 1:

But I want to give a shout out here. Even though they're going through their battle right now legally, I still have to give a shout out to my boys, chad Hugo and Pharrell Williams, the Neptunes, who have come together as producers and have given you such great hits that have played on the radio from 2000 up until about man. It's hard to say when did they stop producing collectively? I probably say let's go from 2000 to about maybe 2014. But they both have, since not producing together, have done solo production for other artists Chad doing some things in the rock and hip hop world, and Pharrell. We know Pharrell because he's done, because I'm Happy, you know he's. He's speaking of Despicable Me 4, he's produced and curated that soundtrack for that movie and the other Despicable Me films.

Speaker 1:

As mentioned before, pharrell just had an album come out this year that I still listen to every so often. Let me get the name of that album here. It is called Virginia Black Yacht Rock, volume 1, city of Limitless Access. It just came out this year Surprise album for that on his birthday. But now that I've kind of given you the background, let me give you some of the notable tracks that they produced. We've got Grinding by the Clips.

Speaker 1:

You couldn't go anywhere back in 2002 or 2003 without being in school, or even in college with dudes pounding on the tables for me in high school pounding on the lunch tables, recreating that grinding beat. You probably have heard it just blaring out of someone's car. You can have gone anywhere without hearing it. Nori. Super Thug. Quick little note on this Super Thug.

Speaker 1:

Actually Michael Jackson wanted that type of production for his last album and he wanted beats like Super Thug on his album. We're talking about hardcore, grimy beats, hip hop beats at that. Use your Heart by SWV. Drop it Like it's Hot by Snoop Dogg that actually man reinvigorates Snoop Dogg so much. When Pharrell and Chad got on there and produced that Drop it Like it's Hot beat for him, I mean you couldn't go anywhere in 2000. Oh man because I got the album. I think it was 2004,. Though without hearing that blaring out somebody's car, I Just Want to Love you, give it to Me. By Jay-Z. I want to say that was off the Rock Lock Familia Buying Four by Jay-Z, that would have been 2000,. Yeah, 2000 album. That was probably the first time Jay-Z had had the Neptunes produced for him.

Speaker 1:

Milkshake by Khalees, classic. You probably still hear that. I think she does like a Uber Eats or commercial where she's having that played now as people are rapping over it. But talking about food, youngin Hollaback fabulous. His first CD, fabulous. No Ghetto, fab, ghetto, fabulous. Sorry that he had a few beats produced by the Debtunes on there. You don't have to call by Usher, classic joint.

Speaker 1:

This is gonna be a bit controversial because who is on the song that I'm getting ready to list past the Cavasier part two, with Busta Rhymes, diddy and Pharrell no Diddy, as they would say when you're, whenever you're talking about Diddy, you have to say no Diddy. So no Diddy, I'm a Slave for you. By Britney Spears Wait a minute. By Ray J and Lil' Kim Rock your Body off of Justin Timberlake's first album, justified, album justified. Looking at me, I think that was the first and only track that Mace no Diddy had got from the Neptunes. Now, no Diddy meaning Diddy, puff Daddy, p Diddy, however he wants to call himself, later went on to have an album called Puff Daddy I know P Diddy and the Family, the saga continues and he had a song on there. It's the D, the I, the D, the D, the Y, it's Diddy Hold up. So he had that song on there and that was produced by the Neptunes. Let's see, we have Girls, them Sugar by Beanie man and Maya.

Speaker 1:

Gotten your Money by ODB and Khalees. Now, actually, what's so interesting about the Neptunes is they can give you a beat and it can you know further on your career or reinvigorate your career. And for ODB at that point in time, man, he was pretty much dead in the mud like just just gone, right. But when that song came out and people realized it was the Neptunes and the way ODB was flowing on that track and rapping, it was probably by far one of his biggest hits. So, yeah, so I mean he's passed. But when people talk about ODB, that's generally one of the songs that they will play. I Got your Money, hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani.

Speaker 1:

What Happened to that Boy? By Birdman and Eclipse. Now, what Happened to that Boy by Birdman and Eclipse? Now I'm trying to see if I can tie this up here. True story that song, what Happened to that Boy by Birdman and Eclipse, was produced by Neptune's, so that's Chad and Pharrell. Now clips were signed to Star Trek. Clips are Malice and Push your T, pusher T.

Speaker 1:

So at some point Birdman did not pay the Neptunes properly. So then enters pusher T from Clipse who goes at Birdman and the whole cash money label because he's on a warpath, because Birdman ain't doing right. Then somehow Drake gets into the beef, which gets fast, gets into the beef and they're doing subs back and forth, subliminals. Then you fast forward to man. It would have been 2017 or 2018 where it finally comes to a head between Drake and pusher T and they go out in and basically put your tea destroys them. But that's all stemming from this song. What happened to that boy? Hot in here by Nelly I still love you by S702.

Speaker 1:

Southern Hospitality by Ludacris. Now, the funny thing is the Neptunes have a very distinct sound that sometimes you can kind of tell it's them. But when I heard Southern Hospitality I did not know that was them. I had no idea that was them that produced that for Ludacris. Touch by Amarion, knock Yourself Out. By Jadakiss, let's see Allure by Jay-Z. Come Close.

Speaker 1:

Common featuring Mary J a classic Common song, but it's off of Green Lantern's favorite album, the Electric Circus. He so loves that album by Common, he spends all day talking about it. He literally says he ranks that album over Raekwon, the Chef's from Wu-Tang's, only Built for Cuban Link. He said Electric Circus by far is the best album Common's ever produced and the best album he's ever heard in hip-hop from anyone for that matter. Electric Circus. Can you believe that? Electric Circus? And then, lastly, shake it Fast by Mystical. So you know, that's my homage of the top 25 songs from the Neptunes. And that's my homage of the top 25 songs from the Neptunes. And that's Chad and Pharrell.

Speaker 1:

And then here are some of the up and coming alternative artists you might want to check out Eventually. Bar Italia, a London born post pop punk trio, recently released their debut album Tracy Denim, and followed up with the Twits. Their minimalist sound and elusive social media presence have piqued curiosity, making them worth watching. Buggin', this Chicago four-piece, offers inclusive, forward-thinking hardcore. Their debut full-length album, concrete cowboys, delivers a bite groove and depth. Keep an eye out for them and then zeff another artist to watch. That brings fresh energy to the scene. Their unique sound and captivating performance are gaining attention. So that rounds out our music scene.

Speaker 1:

Okay, let let's fast forward to sports. I know everyone loves sports here, so let's go on and get into it. So, with sports, we're going to start with MLB, and the Oakland A's currently are in the last place in the American League West, but they're looking to the sellers at the trade deadline. However, dealing away pitcher Mason Miller would require a significant trade similar to a Herschel Walker type. Basically, what they're saying is this player is so high valued that either you're going to get a player of equal value or pieces that they feel like equal to him, so it could be like, essentially, 10 players for one, or they give you five players plus draft picks. So be on the lookout for that.

Speaker 1:

The New York Yankees have reportedly discussed a trade for Marlins, miami Marlins star Jazz Chisholm Jr in a recent MLB trade. That'd be great for them because Jazz Chisholm I mean, he's great, great player. Man, I feel like you can put that kid out anywhere Outfield, infield and infield being, you know, third, second, first, shortstop, and he's going to get that ball. So I mean, there's nothing Jazz Chisholm can't do right. And then there's some sad news here. We have Sean Burroughs, a former Little League World Series champion and MLB player, tragically passed away due to fentanyl intoxication.

Speaker 1:

Now on to the NBA. The 2024 USA basketball men's national team for Paris is an impressive lineup. Here are some of the stars who are representing Team USA LeBron James, a four-time NBA champion, olympic gold medalist. Kevin Durant, another Olympic gold medalist and one of the most prolific scorers in NBA history. Stephen Curry for his renowned three-point shot and leadership. Joel Embiid, a dominant center and MVP candidate. And then we have, for the coaching staff, we have Steve Kerr, who's been with the Golden State for almost 10 years now, I think and or maybe more than that, but he's been there, I think, at the bare minimum of 10 will be the head coach, and then his assistant coach will be Greg Popovich.

Speaker 1:

Most viewed Ben Simmons as expiring deal with the Nets, allowing them to create a crucial 2025 cap space. Bobby Marks projects Simmons as a minimum salary player moving forward. So what? The low risk, low reward, or maybe low risk, high reward it just depends. I mean, ben Simmons has been dealing with these injuries, and mentally as well, where he can't just seem to recover. And, with that being said, he's really no good to any NBA team that he's playing for right now. So it's just like he'll play like maybe five, 10 games and all of a sudden he comes up with an injury. So it's really hard to know what's going on with Ben Simmons. But I know he's been or making expos stating that eventually he will make his return to the league eventually, but it's hard to say what's going on with him. So, with that being said, let's just see if he can keep his health intact and then go from there.

Speaker 1:

Now Kawhi Leonard reacted stoically to Paul George's departure from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Philadelphia 76ers. The two stars had discussed, possibly before the season, you know, still remaining intact the core nucleus. But it didn't work that way because the Clippers offer if they wanted to keep all the players together, clippers offer if they wanted to keep all the players together. You know, far as Kawhi Leonard, paul George, russell Westbrook, james Harden, you know you would restructure a deal so that you know one the player's happy, but alsoi Leonard, and then that basically left crumbs for Paul George. So he said oh no, but that's how you feel. I'm going to go to Philadelphia, which he did. So Kawhi is kind of like basically, hey, I'm happy for him, get your money man.

Speaker 1:

Now also with Kawhi Leonard. This is a bit of a strange one, but here recently he was on Team USA. He took pictures, was going to be a crucial part of the team going forward, but as of this week he well I don't know if it was so much him, but I know the Clippers and Team USA itself made a decision where they said you know what, with you not really finishing out the season well due to injuries off and on, your health is at the utmost for us. So right now we want you to kind of just step away from Team USA and take the season off. We'll take the time for this season to get healthy to start the 2024-2025 season. So those who are wondering, hey, where's Kawhi Leonard? You know he was on Team USA and now he's gone. It was an executive decision made by the Clippers and Team USA that was in the best interest of Kawhi Leonard.

Speaker 1:

Bill Belichick, the legendary NFL Sorry, my bad, we've moved on to the NFL here. Now Bill Belichick, the legendary coach, has secured a spot as an NFL analyst job as an analyst on the Manning cast run by the brothers Peyton and Eli Manning, dallas Cowboy whoa. Still they have a contract dilemma with Dak, ceedee Lamb and Michael Parsons. Continues as Prescott Dak, the ninth quarterback, has a unique leverage due to his no trade clause and a 40.13 million dead money figure for 2025. If he's not resigned before then, his circumstances are far from standard and he could potentially secure a deal in the neighborhood of 60 million per year.

Speaker 1:

So again, the saga continues with this Morbunt franchise. Thank God I jumped off that ship. I renounce you, dallas Cowboys. I renounce you. I rebuke you. I am now with the Pittsburgh Steelers. We're so in love right now. You know what I'm saying. So Dallas is no more Sticking with contracts.

Speaker 1:

We have Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers has agreed to a two-year $38 million extension. That looks like it's going to be great. He was the offensive player of the year for 2023. San Francisco is going to have him through 2027. So at least they are prioritizing and getting their act together. San Francisco can sign who they need to sign and not have to all right, who we're going to sign, who we're not going to sign, trying to fumble and bumble and stumble, they've got their act together.

Speaker 1:

Now on to the NHL. We have the Carolina Hurricanes. Head coach Brend Amor acknowledged that it's hard to watch as players like Grinstall Tarverian if I'm pronouncing his name correctly, his last name, sorry, correct me if I'm wrong Nosen Sk, skigi and Psy depart from the team. Yeah, that is kind of hard to see your, your good players or role players or crucial players go and be possibly successful somewhere else. It's like almost like a X moving on and doing bigger and better things without you.

Speaker 1:

Now the Boston Bruins have acquired goalie Chris Posolo and signed depth Ford Jones and Kasselik. And then the Washington Capitals new GM Chris Patrick is aiming to keep the team competitive with Alex Ovechkin and beyond. And then Teej Aguinla, the number six pick for the 2024 NHL draft and the first player to be selected for the Utah Hockey Club I so hate that name has signed a three-year deal, entry-level contract. Thursday Financial terms were not disclosed. And Ginla is the son of Hockney Hall of Famer Jerome Ginla. I'm sure you guys remember that. That's why that name sounds familiar. Tiege has said a lot of his offseason, will be continuing to work out with his father and improving his game. All right Now. Moving on, we chug along here Television, so here are some of the popular television shows currently being viewed right now.

Speaker 1:

My Lady Jane, a romp anticy that has its cake and slays it too. That has his cake and slays it too. Featuring Emily Madder, Edward Bummel and Jordan Peters the Bear an excellent show, maintaining high standards, simmering and weltering the Appetite. Starring Jeremy Allen oh, jeremy Allen White, sorry. Iban Moss Buckrock, ayo Debrie and Abby Elliott.

Speaker 1:

Geek Girl the little synopsis. Here we have Harriet Manners as a teenage girl who is both physically and socially awkward, unsure of herself. She is an easy target for a group of school bullies led by Lexi. She finds support in her best friend, nat, and her neighbor and fellow eccentric Toby, her father Richard and stepmother Annabelle. Okay, now here are some new released television shows that you can watch on Now. This first one's a bit of a movie slash miniseries, but it's still worth the watch.

Speaker 1:

We have justice league crisis on infinite earth, part three. Trapped in the pocket universe, surviving earth's facing annihilation by the anti-monitor time shatters, bringing past heroes to aid justice league against the epitome of evil. Their sacrifice may lead to victory. The Ark season two follows the remaining crew of space of the spacecraft known as Ark One, who must become the best versions of themselves to stay on the course and survive. They're experiencing a catastrophic event that caused massive destruction and the loss of a life, unprisoned. Season two uh, the life of a therapist and single mom is upended when her dad gets out of prison and moves in with her and her teenage son. So that stars Kerry Washington and Delroy Lindo. And then we have Cobra Kai, season six and final season. If you haven't really you've been living under the rock, let me give you a synopsis here of Cobra Kai. After decades of their 1984 All-Valley Karate Tournament bout, a middle-aged Daniel LaRusso and Joey Lawrence find themselves martial arts rivals again. But they're middle-aged. So it's all the best.

Speaker 1:

Of every karate kid film, one, two, three, four. Well, the Hilary Swank one I know they've been debating whether or not they were going to add her or not to the show. I know for the last few seasons she has not made an appearance, so maybe here she could. But, like I said, most of the Karate Kid films everyone's kind of come back and reprised their roles. Hilary Swank is the only one that has yet to do so. And then the Jaden Smith one Isn't canon, to let's just put it this way the Daniel LaRusso Karate Kid, so that Jaden Smith, it's its own thing. It's not even attached, but the only one that truly is is the Hilary Swank, because Mr Miyagi was in that. But again, this is season six. I have not heard anything of whether or not she will make an appearance or not, so we'll see.

Speaker 1:

Okay, um, television shows here with replay value. We have 30 something or 30 something to life, as it was said, and uh, stay tuned. Uh, when they made a swoop of it, no, but 30 something. Uh, it was a show that revolves around a group of baby boomers and their thirties living in Philadelphia. These characters grapple with the lifestyle changes that dominated American culture during the 80s, given their prior involvement in the 70s counterculture as young adults.

Speaker 1:

Capital Critters is an animated television show that revolves around the lives of mice, rats, roaches, residing in the basement walls of the White House in Washington DC. The show follows a young mouse named Max who flees his farm home in Nebraska after his family is killed by exterminators. Max moves into his aunt's home under the White House, where he befriends a rebellious rat named Jamit, his mother Trixie, and a hip cockroach named Moe's, and a former laboratory rat named Muggle. Um, I believe the star cause I thought it was um Michael J Fox at the time, but it wasn't. Uh, it's Neil Patrick Harris. Um, that is the lead in the show. But, um, it's a good show, man, it's an animated cartoon, revolve around pest rodents. But yeah, the first episode when I watched it I did not realize that it was so hardcore, so graphic, not too graphic, but you definitely get to see the little rat mice family get exterminated there with gas. Now, this shows a throwback because this was a 1992 or 1993. So I actually did see each and every episode as they released as weeks. Um went on um for ABC at the time. So it was like neck and neck with dinosaurs, um, so you would catch dinosaurs and then you would catch a capital critters, uh, all in the same week. So if you're a kid, that light animation ABC was killing it at that time for prime time and then sticking.

Speaker 1:

Most of these shows are all ABC that I'm talking about here. The last ABC show I want to talk about here is perfect strangers. Um, it's actually a two for one here and you'll see why the odd couple comedy with hilarious physical comedy tacked on for a good measure. It tells the story of two distant cousins who reconnect in Chicago Larry Appleton, an ambitious would-be photojournalist, and Balki, a native of his obscure island named Maples. What many don't know, though, here is that Perfect Strangers was the catalyst that helped start Family Matters. Now, for most of you, people who may be seeing Perfect Strangers know what I'm talking about.

Speaker 1:

There's a couple episodes in Perfect Strangers where you have Harriet Winslow there as like a I don't know if she was a maid or a cleaner in the apartment complex that Larry and Bucky lived in, and her appearance was there and her name was Harriet Winslow. And then you also had, within that episode, carl Winslow show up. I think they're having like a disagreement in the episode, and but from what people took away from that cameo of Harriet being there and Carl being there? Well, harriet was there for a few episodes, but that cameo with Carl, though for the few times. People love that chemistry and wanted more and decided to say, hey, let's see what Carl and Harriet are like outside of Perfect Strangers. Because also, again, perfect Strangers takes place in Chicago. If you remember, family Matters takes place in Chicago. So again, this show helped catapult, breathe life into Family Matters and, if I remember correctly, breathe life into Family Matters. And if I remember correctly, though, there was a bit of a crossover event where Perfect Strangers did show up in Family Matters, so it was a little back and forth there. So that ends our run on television.

Speaker 1:

So we're going to end the show on video games, so I'm just going to put you on game for a little few things happening this week. Now Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League is free for Amazon Prime members. Now you can play Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League for free. So I would assume, if you have a Prime membership, you go look for the game and it may give you the option of how you'd want to play, whether it be PC stream, xbox or Sony PlayStation. But yes, suicide Squad Kills the Justice League is currently free with Prime memberships.

Speaker 1:

Amazon's action RPG game, the Aeternium, is set on a supernatural island of Aeternium. Players can forge their destiny in an action-adventure game filled with danger and opportunity. And then the Darkest Dungeon 2 is an eagerly awaited sequel to a Red Hook Studios smash hit gothic, gothic Ooh, I can't get that out. Horror RPG Darkest Dungeon. In this roguelike role-playing game, you'll embark on harrowing road trips across a decaying landscape, facing unspeakable horrors and battling dark enemies. And then a special shout out here to close this out we have college football 25. Now this will be releasing officially on the 19th. So the 19th is this Friday.

Speaker 1:

Now, for some of those who have pre-ordered the game. Now, for some of those who have pre-ordered the game, I think it's like the deluxe edition, it's like $99. You get early access, three-day early access. So that would be either. Well, I'm seeing conflicting reports, but I'm seeing if it's three-day early access, it would be Tuesday, the 16th. But then some people are saying it's the 15th. But I think I know what they mean by. That is, depending on where you live in the US. Like if you're on the West Coast on the 15th, if you're waiting at 9 pm, you'll be able to play the game. If you're on the West Coast on the 15th, if you're waiting at 9 pm, you'll be able to play the game. If you're on the East Coast, if you wait up until midnight, you get to play the game. So that's essentially why I think they're saying it comes out on the 15th, especially on the West Coast. Because if you wait till 9 am, which is 12 pm, till 9 am, which is 12 pm no, not 9 am, but when it's 9 pm here on the West Coast it's 12 am on the East Coast and essentially get to play the game at 9 pm here on the West Coast. So you get early access as early as July 15th if you pre-order the game. But it has to be the deluxe edition.

Speaker 1:

But the game itself it has campus IQ. It introduces a new composure system, player wear and tear screen, shaking, home field advantage and diverse play styles across. You have game modes like road to glory, chase, the heisman trophy. As a player in the road to glory mode, which I've been seeing people play, it's very interesting because you can pretty much play any position you want. So if you want to be the quarterback, you want to be the running back, you want to be the running back. You want to be an offensive tackle, offensive lineman, wide receiver, tight end or, on the defensive end, a cornerback free safety. Middle linebacker free safety, you name it. You will take control of that player and you get to choose what college you get to go to.

Speaker 1:

Now you have to be mindful when you do because, um, they have four tiers of uh players how you can come in. But you have to be also mindful of the tier. So it was like a tier, b tier, c tier and uh, d tier, um or the underdog Um. Each tier that you choose has certain perks, uh, perks for player points. So you got to be mindful of that, which tier you go into. But also, once you choose that tier, then you go moving forward. You get to see what schools are willing to draft you based off of the play style and player that you chose, like far as the build or um, um composite that's that you chose. You know a, b or C tier Um.

Speaker 1:

Some teams will say, hey, we'll take you right away and you can be a starter right away. Some teams will say, no, you can be a backup. Some teams will be like you can be all the way down the list, our, our fifth string. So it's very. You have to be very intentional when you start the game on Road to Glory which way you want to go. You also have Dynasty Mode. Create your own coach and lead your team to a victory.

Speaker 1:

In Dynasty Mode you also have the new that to look out for, like nil deals. For the first time ever, athletes like quinn hours, donovan edwards and travis hunter are in the game ground baking nil deals for collegiate sports. So yeah, they've got nil deals. I've seen that in the road to glory. Certain things that you do, like endorsement deals for the local karate program, that's right around the corner. We'll say, hey, for 12 weeks you can promote our business and we'll give you this much cash. But the cash actually is points that you will put into different categories for your player to build them up, like stamina, strength, speed, things of that nature. So yeah, it's always one of those things you always want to kind of look out for the best NIL deal to help build up your player. But it also does help build up your fan base for the social media aspect of the game. So yeah, but overall it's going to seem like it's a very interesting game to play when it does release for early access on July 15th, and if you just want to wait till the 19th, then hey, so be it, all right.

Speaker 1:
