Hi, my name is Rick Bloodworth. This is the Common Sense Christian channel, and today I come with something of a plea, a request to my fellow Christians to stop defending the perversion of the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics. For those of you who watched, and I'm sorry if you did, but if you watched and you saw them open up with one scene where there was a giant platter and when they took the top off of that platter there was a nearly naked man, all blue, who is supposed to represent the Greek god Dionysus. Dionysus is the god of wine, of ecstasy, of festival party. And certainly the scene that was going on behind him looked like an orgy, or at least just stopped short of it. There was a a scene in which there was a long table that was reminiscent of, I believe it was Michelangelo's painting of the Last Supper of Christ. And maybe that's Many Christians were offended by this. I was certainly offended by this. Now, the people who put this together said, Oh, we didn't mean to offend. And no, no, you misunderstood it completely. And some people have accepted that. I'm not sure I really buy into their explanation. Matter of fact, I know I don't, but whether you accept their explanation or not, that's. That's up to you, we can still be friends. But it was what occurred during this time that really concerns me. In this scene, in addition to this blue man who was painted had, had nothing that he was wearing other than a few flowers and, and a very thin cloth that was put over his private parts in such a way as to make it look like he wasn't wearing anything. He was just a few feet away from a little girl. I think she was nine years old. And next to this little girl was a man that was partially clad in black. And as he would dance and gyrate, his, his costume would come open up on the top and there, there were a number of occasions where he fully exposed himself on his lower extremities within just a few inches. of this little girl. There were times where he put his arm around this little girl. Another time where as he was dancing, he pretended to stroke her. It was about as close to a live act of pedophilia that you can get. I don't know how anybody thought this would be a good idea to do anything like this with a little girl, much less televise it on worldwide on a worldwide broadcast. And then for millions of other. children to be witnessing what was going on. In addition to these two men was a, another group of men who were, who were dressed in drag. For those of you who are not familiar with this, this is when a, a man dresses up to, to portray a prostitute with as much paint and wild costume as they can get. And so they celebrated for several minutes with dancing and lascivious movements as they celebrated Dionysus and this festival, this ecstasy that they were taking part in. I've heard a lot of Christians come to the defense of these people. They've said, we just need to accept their word when they say they were not trying to mock Christ. Okay, let's, let's accept their word on that. But what about their actions? There's a passage. In Matthew chapter 18 and verse 6, these are the words of Christ. He said, Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depths of the sea. When you abuse children, even when you're just pretending to sexually abuse children, and millions of other children are watching, This is a sin that's, that is so reprehensible in God's eyes that his son said for those who would, who would conduct themselves in such a manner as to get a little one who believed in Christ to sin, that it'd be better for them to have a millstone wrapped around their neck, neck and cast into the depths of the sea. And yet Christians have come to defend this behavior. Now, to their defense, I believe that most of these Christians really haven't looked hard at this particular event, and, and bless their hearts, why should they? It was so vile that how could you help but not turn away? By the way, after this scene, they showed another scene of, of three people in a bedroom. And as two men were beginning to embrace and to kiss, one of them turned to the, to the camera as if he just had noticed it and, and came over and shut the door indignantly in his face so they could get back to their whatever they were doing. And people defended this. They defended it as art. They said things like, well, we've all had sin in our life. We all need the grace of God. And of course, this is true. We've all sinned and of course, we all need the grace of God, but understand this. Grace has never been a license for that sin. Grace has never been, even been suggested to cover a sin that's not being repented of. It's not suggested that, that grace covers the sin while you're in the process of that sin. Grace permits you the opportunity to seek repentance on God's terms. Amen. But many people are acting like they don't even need to repent. Or, if they do, it's their business, not ours. But where is our sense of protection towards these children? Hadn't been too long ago that there was a parade in San Francisco. It was a parade celebrating what you'd suspect San Francisco people would be celebrating. In it were, were a number of different acts, one worse than the other, but one in particular featured two men who were naked. One was on his knees doing what you might think that he might be doing. Families were there, children were present, and shame on the parents who brought their children to this. I don't see them being any less perverted than those who are taking part in the wicked acts. Policemen were there, they stood idly by. I guess they were just there to protect these sinful men while they were sinning. I don't know what they thought they were doing. In recent years, it's been very popular to invite men dressed in drag, again, dressed like prostitutes, dressed like women, to come to libraries, both in, in public libraries and school libraries, and read to the children. About 15 miles north of us, in a, in a small college town, they had a day at the park celebrating this type of behavior. What's happened to our society? How have we gotten to the point where we've said, I'm okay, you're okay, regardless of how evil your sin has become, regardless of how much you affect innocent children, why we're going to just, we're going to, to stand up and, and, and defend your right to sin. What has happened to a society such as this? We've become depraved. We've become perverse. And the sad thing is this depravity is seeping into the church and people who identify as Christians are supporting this very type of behavior. Let me say this very quickly. We have an obligation to speak the truth in love. It's found in Ephesians chapter 4 and verse 15. There's a lot of people that do really good on the love side of it. They love people so much that they wouldn't ever want to offend them. There are others on the other side who do very good job speaking the truth. This is what God says, but we need to combine the two. We need to know what God says, what he defines as truth. And then we need to speak that to other people in love and out of love, out of concern for them. And also out of concern for the innocent people who are harmed by their sinful activity. So we need to be truthful enough to say this is wrong and you've got to stop it and you need to repent. And we need to be loving enough to let them know that in a way because we don't want them to go to hell. And so I understand people's tendency to want to come to the defense of those who have sinned by saying we all need God's grace. But to come to that defense while these people are engaged in their perversion, while they are refusing to repent, is a mistake that not only may cost them their soul, both the ones who are committing that sin who are being led to believe it's okay by well intended Christians who are ignorant nonetheless, but it'll also endanger the soul of those Christians who are going along with that type of behavior. There's a passage in Romans chapter 1. that talks about what God is going to do if people don't recognize that he's God. And he talks about there coming a point where he just gives them over to a depraved mind. It's not that he's making them depraved, it's just that they've rejected him, so the only thing left is depravity. And depravity ends up in scenes like we witnessed with the opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics and what we see on the streets of San Francisco and in the parks of little Texas communities. We're being given over to our depravity and God warns us about this. He talks about the various types of sin, including the sins of homosexuality. And then he says this, In, in Romans chapter one, verse 32, Although they know God's righteous decrees that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things, but they also approve of those who practice them. So you don't even have to be doing them. You can just be approving of those who practice them. You can just be paving the way for them to continue them in their sin. You can enable their sin in other words. And while we don't have the right to issue a judgment upon them, remember in the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew chapter 7 verse 1, Jesus told us, judge not that you not be judged. Well, he's not saying observe not that you be not observed. He's telling us we don't have the right to make the final judgment. And Paul goes on to point this out in chapter two, the very next verse after Romans 1 32, we just read in chapter two, verse one, you therefore have no excuse who passed judgment on someone else. For at whatever point you judge the other, you're condemning yourself because you pass who passed judgment, do the same things. And so a lot of people will say, well, I'm just not going to observe it. I'm not going to say that wrong is wrong because that might be judgment, but judgment is not the same as observing, nor is it the same as acknowledging that God's way is right. Look at verse two. Now we know that God's judgment against those who do such things is based upon the truth. So God will judge this type of activity and he'll judge us as well for the different types of sin we've had. If we don't repent of it. The point is, stop sinning and stop supporting others in their sin. And stop judging. I've heard people on the other side of or the other extreme of this matter who do recognize this as perversion, but who've gone on with such unkind and unloving and even filthy language at times to address this sin. And it becomes very distressing. It becomes very clear that they're doing the very thing Jesus warned them against, judging other people's souls. We need to avoid both extremes, don't we? So stop defending the sin and stop doing the eternal judgment. Our part, speak the truth in love. This is wrong. It endangers your soul. God doesn't want that and we don't want that, but you have to repent. To suggest anything shy of repentance is paving the road to heaven, or excuse me, paving the road to hell with your good intentions. And you don't want to be involved in that. One of the things that, that I think is, is very critical for us is to not be deceived in this entire matter. One of the things that Satan is really good and therefore his children are very good at is deceiving righteous people into thinking that sin should be tolerated. In, in this, Galatians chapter 6 verse 7, it says do not be deceived, God cannot be mocked. It appeared to me that there were people who were attempting to mock God. A man reaps what he sows. There will be a, a due punishment for this type of activity if we don't repent. And so he says the one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction. The one who sows to please the spirit. will reap eternal life. Let us therefore not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we'll reap a harvest if we don't give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people. So we do need to be doing good to all people, and part of that good is having enough love for them to warn them that they're in danger. If you saw a little four year old playing out in the street, nobody was around, wouldn't you go and try and get them out of the street? Don't you have enough decency to do that? Why? It would upset them. They like playing in the street, but you know that there's danger there. How is it that even though God has promised us that we're in danger of hell itself, if we get involved with sinful activity that we refuse to repent of, that we don't go to those people and warn them of that danger, even though they may not want to hear it. You don't have to warn them over and over, but you do need to have at least some warning. You need to be speaking the truth. in love. Are we doing that? Are we deceiving ourselves? In Ephesians chapter 5 and in verse 3, it says this, Among you there must not even be a hint of sexual immorality or any kind of impurity or greed. Well, here we had not just a hint of immorality and impurity, but we had the very acts being portrayed on stage. We who are to stay away from even the hint of such activity have put up with it. And the thing that distresses me most is that we have put up with it in allowing them to perform these things. in the view of little children and even against little children. He goes on to say there shouldn't be any obscenity, foolish talk, or coarse joking which are out of place, but rather Thanksgiving. For this you can be sure, and notice this, this you can be sure, no immoral, impure, or greedy person, such a man's an idolater. has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. In other words, those who participate in sin without seeking forgiveness, without repentance on God's terms, cannot be part of the kingdom of God. Hell awaits them. How is it that we can defend such vile activity, not only endangering the innocent children with whom they are doing this against and in front of, But also endangering their souls by acting as if it's okay. We've got to stop this type of deception. Malachi puts it this way in Malachi 2 verse 17. You've wearied the Lord with your words. How have we wearied him, you ask? By saying all who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord, and that he is pleased with them. We have got to stop defending the perverse acts of wicked people. That doesn't mean that we don't love them. By love, it means that we try to warn them, get them to stop harming the innocent and to repent so that they don't suffer punishment as well. But I want to point out again, it was Jesus who said, if you cause a little one to sin, millstone tied around your neck and cast into the depths of the sea. Are you doing that by supporting perversion? I believe it's something to think about. And again, we need to be thinking about judging as well if we've been doing that. But by judging, I'm not saying observing whether something is sin or not. How can you ever help anybody if you refuse to acknowledge that there is sin and that people take part in sinful activity? You just don't make the final judgment. You don't get to say whether they're going to heaven or hell, but you did get to, you do get to observe the fact that they're in danger when they're sinning and you want to give them the proper warning, both to protect them, but also to protect the little ones. Have your actions resulted? And you're being in a situation where it'd be better for you to have a millstone tied around your neck and cast into the sea. If so, well you, you need to stop doing that. You need to repent on God's terms. And as far as this garbage that we've been witnessing, let's stop watching that type of perversion. And let's also make sure that we don't try and defend it. It's indefensible and God will not tolerate that type of activity in our lives. If we think that we can defend those who are sinning to the point where they're harming children, kind of a sobering message today. I realized I realized that, but I do think it's something that we need to be thinking about right now. Wouldn't you agree? God bless.
