A Star Wars podcast that doesn't make you feel bad for not being a Star Wars expert or for liking something others don't? That can't be right. Well, my little Suckulants, that's exactly what's happening here.

In this first episode, we meet the crew, discuss why we love Star Wars, what we will and won't be talking about, and give out our first homework assignment. We revisit iconic memories, like the buff aesthetics of Power of the Force action figures, and self-assess our Star Wars savvy, pinpointing where our force is strongest and where we might need more training.

Our debate on the binge vs. weekly release strategies of modern series like The Mandalorian and The Bad Batch might reshape your viewing habits.

Who is this podcast for? Anyone who wants to talk about and learn more about Star Wars without being judged. If you're a long-time fan or maybe just a little Swarsy Curious, this is your low-sodium Star Wars safe space.

Follow us on social media @TheSWSShow. Once we get our poodoo together, you'll find show clips, behind-the-scenes shenanigans, Star Wars news, memes, updates, and more!

00:16
Hey, welcome to the show. I'm supposed to do a teaser. I forgot. We're already off to a great start. That's good. Take two or no, let's just keep going. Let's just keep going, all right, welcome to star wars. Sucks, the show that loves star wars, even when we don't like it. Before we get into it, we're going to talk a little bit about the show and, uh, what it is that you're listening to. What have you stumbled upon? Star Wars doesn't actually suck. We love Star Wars.

00:47
Everybody here on the panel, we all love Star Wars, but we're not here to tell you what you should or shouldn't like. We're not here to quiz you or make you prove your level of Star Wars knowledge or tell you if you're a real fan or not. We're here to talk about Star Wars together in an open atmosphere, try to explain some things to newer fans or the Swarzy Curious, as we like to say and offer some positivity in a galaxy full of negative Star Wars theories. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge Say no more about that. So the whole point of the show is to talk about the stories, connect a few dots on certain characters and make the galaxy far, far away feel a little bit closer. We're not going to do a lot of the political stuff, so you're not going to hear us complaining about disney or how kathleen kennedy and dave filoni have ruined your childhood. We're not talking about the real life behind the scenes bullshit, uh, because real life is hard enough. So for at least one hour a week, we're going to escape from reality and just nerd out on star wars.

01:49
So disclaimer we do love star wars, some of us more than others, but we don't have to like all of it, and I think that's that's the biggest point of this show is that you know, we love star wars. You don't have to like it. And if you don't like what I don't like, that's fine. If you do like what I don't like, that's fine too. It just like, if you don't know anything about star wars and you're a little curious, that's okay, because we're going to get you there, we're going to help you. So this is your star wars safe place. So, and we've got opinions and we're going to talk about them, but we're going to present the pros and the cons and we're going to let you decide for yourself if star wars sucks or not. So there you go. All right, that's my spiel. We're going to get started. We're going to meet the crew on the show here today. We're going to go around. We're going to start uh, ladies, first, it's uh, it's miss shasha.

02:44
No, no, okay no, you don't I don't know lady, my nickname lady vader no um I don't even know, I haven't even thought of a name, just it's fine, just sherry. How about just sherry's there? Sherry with two, two a's, two r's one a, but it's not where you think no, that's I. I completely yeah, I don't. It's two r's one, one y one y but it's not where you think.

03:14
Okay anyway. So we're just gonna go around and uh meet everybody and then we'll kind of like go back and we're gonna chit chat and uh find out about these, uh, these people that are going to be taking you on a tour of the galaxy far, far away. Daddy Louie, longtime fan favorite circle of nerds hello, I'm great everybody's so awkward like we've done this before so many times, I'm wonderful that's good to know.

Speaker 2
03:50
There it is big tony how you doing what's happening. Everybody, welcome to the galaxy nice hey, let me.

Speaker 1
03:58
Let me see that mic again, because the mic that you are rocking is, uh, is so cool, hyper x. Hyper x, not a sponsor, by the way, so not yet. Not yet. If they want to be, if they want to be, what's up? Hyper x, all right.

04:13
So, uh, before we get started, we're not going to be doing a whole lot. This is our pilot episode, so there's not a whole lot going on in terms of, like, what we're talking about with um, actual star war shows, but what we are going to be doing over the seasons, we're going to be watching only canon television and movies. So there's a lot of stuff, with one exception, and that's going to be the the star wars, clone wars, micro series. It's no longer considered canon. However, there's a really, really cool fan cut um that was made. That's on youtube and we're going to be watching that um a little bit later on in the season, but unfortunately it's no longer canon, considered canon. Anyway, um, we're not going to watch the ewok stuff. We will probably talk about the holiday special, but for the most part, we're going to stick to can't louie's like no, no, no, no, so, but for the most part. So let's get a little bit of background on everybody, and uh see, uh see where everybody's at.

Speaker 2
05:11
So, tony, let's uh tell the people a little bit about yourself, please well, um, let's see, I've been a star wars fan for about 30 years or so now. Um, first, my first experience that I can remember watching it was probably about seven years or so now. My first experience that I can remember watching it was probably about seven years old, watching the original trilogy. I had a couple of older cousins who had some of the old action figures and one day we were out digging and we found one of the old model Millennium Falcons and dug that up and had some fun with that for a long time. Um, and I've just loved Star Wars ever since.

Speaker 1
05:49
Nice. So now what? What would you say? Is your, your individual level of Star Wars knowledge? Like, where would you, where would you put yourself?

Speaker 2
06:00
Um, I scale one to 10, probably a six or seven. Um, I have zero familiarity with or, you know, experience watching any of the animated stuff, um, which I'm looking forward to, but I just haven't had a chance to get to it. Um, but all the live action stuff, including, uh, you know, all the recent mandalorian and all that stuff I've watched through and absolutely love cool now do you have?

Speaker 1
06:25
is there like a particular star wars era that you would consider yourself to be, like, the subject matter expert on, like you know, something that you're more comfortable with than others?

Speaker 2
06:37
uh, there was nothing I could consider myself an expert in um. I probably know more about um, about the most recent stuff between mandalorian and obi-wan um, than the things prior to that. Uh, but I would not consider myself an expert okay, all right, sherry.

Speaker 1
06:57
Yes, how about you? What's your? What was, what was your first experience with star wars? Like, do you? Can you remember, like you, the first time you ever saw Star Wars?

Speaker 3
07:05
Probably as an adult already. So, I don't think I I might have watched it as a kid, but really it was probably when we got together. To be honest with you was the first time that I really watched it and knew what it was about Right it and knew what it was about right so um my, my level.

07:28
I'm probably like a one or two fan at this point. Sure, I mean, I like it. I like we watch the series. We've watched some series together, some anim, as you know, some of the um, the animated uh cartoons which I thought were really good. Um, yeah, my love. My knowledge is not the greatest, so I'll have to. As we catch up I'll. I think I'll get better. It all depends on what we're talking about too.

Speaker 1
07:53
Some stuff I know a lot about, some stuff I don't sure, and you know, and, and that's and you're exactly the type of person that we're trying to reach. You know that we're trying to, you know, open the, the, the doors to. You know someone that is maybe, you know, interested in star wars. But you know, for whatever it, because it's hard, it's hard being, uh, a star wars fan when people are are grilling you about your knowledge, like you know, especially for, uh, for a woman. If a woman says, hey, I'm a star wars fan, oh, yeah, well, uh, what's your favorite movie? How long is darth vader's lightsaber? You know, I mean, it's just like all these, like crazy, you know, you like you have to all this, you have to prove yourself. It's like all these tests and quizzes.

Speaker 3
08:33
I think my biggest thing is, you know, obviously, being with you guys and following what you do, especially as customers, and, you know, being a handler. That was. It's really cool. I like doing that.

Speaker 1
08:44
Now explain what that is, because, again, we might not have people that understand all of this stuff.

Speaker 3
08:51
So what is a handler? So what I do? So for Tom's costumes, captain Rex, the Mando, things of that nature. I make sure things don't fall off and things stay on where they're supposed to. And we've been in parades, we've been to Legoland, things like that. So you want to stay behind the person that's in costume and make sure they don't get bombarded or they don't lose pieces of their armor, things like that.

Speaker 1
09:19
And you and Daddy Louie actually share a rather intimate costuming bond.

Speaker 3
09:26
Yes, we do.

Speaker 4
09:29
You do? Which one? The Jedi, the Jedi.

Speaker 3
09:33
That I wore to Legoland. Yeah, me and him wore it together.

Speaker 1
09:37
You guys did. You guys were like sharing sweat through robes.

Speaker 3
09:43
Yeah, I don't think he washed it for me. I don't think he did.

Speaker 1
09:44
I don't think he washed it for me.

Speaker 4
09:45
I don't think he did. I don't think it's been washed since you wore it.

Speaker 1
09:51
You might be able to get some money for that then, brother.

Speaker 3
09:55
I was sweating in the Lego heat.

Speaker 1
09:59
That was a rough weekend. It was fun, but it was a rough weekend.

Speaker 3
10:02
It was rough for you because you were in red. It was hot.

Speaker 1
10:04
It was hot.

Speaker 3
10:04
But it was fun, but it was a rough weekend for you because you were, it was hot, it was hot but it was, it was fine, it was very hot, it was fun. But yes, so we have a, have a costume, an intimate connection.

Speaker 4
10:12
Yes, you've been, there's been believe it or not, that so I, I handmade most of that cosplay and, um, aside from myself, there have been three different women that have worn that costume. Oh, well. And my wife isn't even one of them.

Speaker 2
10:35
Oh.

Speaker 3
10:38
No, that's not going to be good Jedi player.

Speaker 1
10:41
That's no bueno, but that's why he's Daddy Louie, because all the Louie Jedi player. That's no bueno, but that's why he's Daddy Louie, because all the Louie.

Speaker 4
10:47
After I built the Scout I never wore the Jedi anymore In our little costuming group anytime somebody needed a cosplay. Sherry used it once, Alyssa used it once. Then there was a blonde girl that I can't remember. I think she was friends with alissa.

Speaker 1
11:06
Yeah, she was real, real skinny, kind of tall oh bianca it was bianca oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I know he it's, it's uh, wasn't part of the little circle for very long, but I can't remember her no, she, she, she hung out with, uh, with the Ordos, yeah, and she actually ended up with Sherry's night owl armor.

Speaker 4
11:33
Oh.

Speaker 1
11:34
Yeah, and she actually did a nice job with it. She ended up joining I think she joined the Mando marks. I'm not sure if she was official or not, but I know she was hanging out with them a lot. She did a nice job. She did a nice job, nice job. Yeah, she hung out with, uh, the ordo family. Gotcha enough about that. So yeah, all right, daddy louie, you are up. So tell us about the first time that you engaged in anything star wars related, if you can remember.

Speaker 4
12:04
For me I think it was a combination of. We did have the Empire Strikes Back on VHS. It was like recorded, like my dad had bootlegged it somehow and recorded it on a tape and it was like in between like two other movies. You had to like fast forward through like two hours of like dirty dancing to get to empire strikes back on this vhs tape and um, and there were very like I have very vivid memories of like bits and pieces of the movie, but I think really what pulled me into star wars honestly was the toys. Um, so like the power of the force line that was, as somebody who collects toys, that was huge, right. So, um, I think that really is what I guess pulled me into star wars was the toys I think, and power of the force.

12:59
When those came out, like everybody was buff, like oh yeah, I got right next to me on the wall and he's like everybody was just diesel like hulk hogan. Yeah, it really was. It was great, it was the same, yeah it was, and you remember, you remember like tattooing luke and his shirt was like open a little bit he was right.

Speaker 1
13:20
He looked like he kind of like tattooing farm boy luke. He kind of looked like he did on the original star wars poster, where his shirts open a little bit. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 4
13:31
But then you look at the Leia figure and she's just as buff as the Luke figures.

Speaker 1
13:35
Yeah, and the stormtroopers? The stormtroopers are absolutely diesel. It's like what are you feeding those boys?

Speaker 2
13:44
Yeah, yeah, power.

Speaker 1
13:45
All right, it's like, what are you feeding those boys? Yeah, yeah, power, all right. So so what, uh, what would you say, is your level of knowledge? And where? Where does where does that lie like? Do you have a particular era that you, you know? You kind of like cling to that you feel that you're really more comfortable with? And, you know, maybe not a subject matter expert, because, tony, I agree with, I don't think any of us are necessarily experts, but, um, we can definitely hold our own in some trivia contests or speak on some certain things when it comes to live action star wars, I would say my knowledge is probably like a nine, nine point five.

Speaker 4
14:20
When it comes to star wars as a whole, like canon. I am not as familiar with the cartoons but I know enough about them that I feel like I can answer basic questions. But if you throw like all of canon together, I'd probably put myself closer to like a seven, just because I feel like all of the cartoons make up such a big chunk of canon.

14:42
Now, and I just am so far behind on the cartoons make up such a big chunk of canon now and I just am so far behind on the cartoons I haven't even, I haven't even watched andor all the way through yet so uh, yeah yeah I deserve I deserve that button for sure um, don't worry about it, it's okay but as far as like where my line, but as far as where my line of fandom falls, I guess it's tough because they all have different meanings to me.

15:12
I guess, on a personal level, like each each trilogy kind of almost represents a different time of my life. Okay Cause like I was born in the early eighties, so like I was born in 83, which is when Jedi came out, so, like you know, I kind of grew up as the trilogy grew up and then, you know, as a young adult, the, the prequels, and then now the sequel stuff, which I'm personally a huge fan of. So I don't know I that's a terrible way to answer your question, I guess. I guess I would say my favorite, john, my favorite part of the star wars timeline is probably between like it's probably like the like post the mandala we'll say the mandalorian time frame, like that the end of the og, the beginning of the sequel stuff, that chunk of time in there, the fall of the empire okay.

Speaker 1
16:14
So this is. This is exciting then, because we've got, you know, I think you know everybody on the show right now has has gaps in their star wars viewing, you know. So we, we haven't all seen all of the star wars, um, so I think it's gonna be a really interesting ride doing this show because, louis, you're about to get caught the fuck up, so, like quickly, we're gonna hit, we're probably gonna hit clone wars and in season two of our show, um, but it's uh, and I think you know, by, by us, kind of like I don't want to say forcing, you know, watching this stuff I don't want to say forcing, but it's like we're making time for it.

17:02
We're making time to like really expand on our star wars knowledge and you know our love of the franchise yeah, and it's going to be like one episode at a time, right well, I think it's how do you like, as we, as we start getting into it, like once we get into the clone wars um, it's, that's seven seasons and that's, that's a lot we'll be like, we'll be like 78 years old by the time we get through everything.

17:28
So we'll probably like binge we, yeah, we might, we might do like a few, you know, maybe talk story arcs instead of, uh, like okay, you know, so we'll watch a few, like maybe we'll. We'll say, you know, we're gonna look at, you know, three to four episodes, especially if it's part of an arc, and then, you know, get into that, like once we, you know, eventually we're gonna hit um, the umbara arc from clone wars and that's just such a dark, dark time in the clone wars. But it's, it's interesting because, as we, I'm excited about the clone wars. But as we start the clone wars it starts off really kind of light. But I'm excited for people to watch with us who maybe don't know anything or or virtually nothing about star wars, because we're going to start seeing these relationships, you know, form and grow and then when things eventually unravel, it's gonna hurt. I mean, it's gonna fucking hurt so what are we starting with?

18:30
so we're, we're gonna be starting. Why haven't I have to give homework? We haven't gotten that far? Well, fuck it, let's talk about it. So our first homework assignment, and for our succulents out there who are listening, that's what we're calling the community. By the way, you are now. If you're listening and if you're a fan, you are a succulent. It makes me giggle.

18:59
Star Wars sucks Succulent. It just um, I it. It makes me giggle. Star wars sucks succulent. It just works. It does, it just works. And I'm already seeing the merch in my brain little stickers, little, little little anthropomorphic succulent plants dressed as different star wars characters. Yes, are you kidding me? I've already got a person on fiverr who I'm gonna hit up to make these like cute little stickers. Forget it, forget it's gonna. You're gonna see succulent star wars cyclone everywhere. But we are gonna be starting with the uh, the young jedi adventures. And this is very, very much a kids show. I haven't seen a single episode of it, so I'm excited. Um, it is definitely something that is for that. I think that like birth to five-year-old set.

Speaker 4
19:40
But maybe like birth to three, but yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1
19:45
But the reason we're not going to watch the entire thing because it's still ongoing there. So there's it's still it's still running, so we'll watch like a few episodes of it just to kind of get the gist. But the the reason that I'd like to watch it is because, well, first of all, we're going in chronological order, so as we do this run, as we start watching and then conversing with each other doing these things, so we're going to be looking at the Young Jedi Adventures first, and then the following week we're going to be watching tales of the jedi, but we're only going to be watching episode two, three and one, in that order. There's six episodes total, because the other episodes take place at different parts of the timeline. So we're watching these things in order and I and the order that we're watching things in. It's going to be such a buildup. All of us here, we all know the Skywalker saga. We know that. But there's so many other good stories and good characters that play into that and that are a part of the Skywalker saga that it's going to be really fun, especially for those of us that aren't aware a part of the skywalker saga. Um, that it's going to be really fun, especially for those of us that that aren't aware of some of these characters. I think we're going to have a good time watching that and then it, everything else along the way is going to be that much more impactful. And I think it's this, it's going to be, it's going to be a good ride. So, but young jedi adventures, that takes place I think it's about 200 years prior to the events of the prequels, so it's during the High Republic. I want to say it's 200 years. Again, we are not all subject matter experts, so I want to say it's like 200 years prior. So we'll get to see. We do see Yoda a bit younger.

21:34
In this series We've got some, you know, some other Jedi, but they are exploring and it is canon show. So what's happening on that show? You know it could potentially have wider reaching arcs. You know so because also, the Acolyte is coming up and the Acolyte TV series, which looks really, really, really good, that takes place during the high republic. So, okay, I think it'll be nice to have a little bit of familiarization just with that era, because I really don't know much about it. I know that there were a lot of jedi during the high republic, but, um, but yeah, that's about it. So I'm I'm excited. I don't know if I'm super excited to watch the young jedi adventures, but I've actually heard people say good things about it, you know it doesn't hurt to check it out.

22:20
No, like I think one of the one of the best reviews that I've heard so far was from a user named Billy who said that you know, there's nothing better with his juice, his juice box, than than young jedi adventures.

Speaker 3
22:36
So I have to say that's um so when our next episode will have juice boxes is yeah, why not? I think that should be. Let's do it I love it.

Speaker 1
22:46
I think that's a genius idea.

Speaker 3
22:47
That's a genius attribute to billy good old bit a long time somebody write that down.

Speaker 4
22:56
Somebody write that down, or we'll forget.

Speaker 1
23:00
Juice box.

Speaker 3
23:01
Juice box, they can be adult juice boxes, because this show is for adults.

Speaker 1
23:04
Yeah, we could get adult juice boxes. Tony, what did you? You put something in the private chat. I don't know what happened. What is it?

Speaker 2
23:10
I said you've asked us about our fandom, but you haven't answered it yourself. For the fans.

Speaker 1
23:15
Oh, because I was asking you guys.

Speaker 2
23:17
Well, you have to, I know, but the fans?

Speaker 1
23:18
don't know, I forgot the questions.

Speaker 4
23:21
You didn't Me too, because I don't have them written down, but you do, so read them off the paper.

Speaker 3
23:27
What is your level of fandom, and when did you first see Star?

Speaker 1
23:32
Wars. So Star Wars is a huge, a huge part of my life. It's been a huge part of my life since I was a tiny child. I was born a few years before you, daddy Louie. I was born a couple years. I was old enough to remember going to see a new hope in 1977, correct um and uh it was. It was really impactful because I was. I was with my dad and my asshole brother, and you guys have heard the story before but it's a good story.

24:15
He's still an asshole yeah, my brother still a fucking asshole, um, but uh, yeah, he's just, he was a jerk. He's a few years older than I am and he was just a dick like all the time. So my dad had to sit between us, um, otherwise he would fuck with me and I would get pissed and I would you know anyway, so we're sitting there.

24:34
We didn't know anything about star wars. You know, I'm like six years old I think at the time, would you know anyway. So we're sitting there, we didn't know anything about star wars, you know, I'm like six years old, I think at the time, and you know. But the toys had been out and the this is where george was fucking genius so the toys had been out. So I had some of the toys. I think I had like a couple of stormtroopers and like I think, um, r2d2, and r2d2 was cool because you turn his head and it would click. So that was, that was a lot of fun.

24:56
But, um, so we're in the theater, the movie opens up. It's really loud I remember being really really really fucking loud and you know, of course, you know we're, we're seeing the uh, the blockade runner get attacked and you know the stormtroopers blast through the door. There's all the fighting and the shooting and the rebels are getting fucked up and Darth Vader walks onto the deck of the Tantive and he's just looking around breathing. That's it. And I hear like this sniffling sound and I look over and my asshole brother is clinging so tight to my dad's arm and he's terrified, but he's terrified of Darth Vader and in that moment I was a lifelong fan. That was it. That was it for me. Darth Vader just rescued me from my asshole brother, because anytime he started to fuck with me I would just go and he would get all fucking flustered. And it was great and it it may be. Response vader might be my, my leather fetish too. I don't know, but uh, it's the leather undies I'm wearing right now.

26:09
Anyway, my god but um, so, yeah, so that's the first star wars thing that I've seen.

Speaker 3
26:14
Um, uh, you mean the first thing?

Speaker 1
26:17
the first thing, yeah, I mean, yeah, in theaters. I think that was the first movie I ever saw in movie theaters. Yes, um, yeah. And then, like I guess, my, my level of knowledge for star wars, I think it probably does depend on on the era I am, I'm very much an EU guy.

26:33
So the expanded universe, that's because you know, because when, and, and you know, louie and Tony, you guys know this too, but you know, we didn't have the luxury of star Wars like every week. I mean, there was like we had gaps of years where there was no star Wars, you know. And so we, we relied on the books. So we're reading the books, we're reading the comics, and those were the worlds that we were getting lost in. So you know, as you know, the new stuff started coming out.

27:04
You know you can't, you can't help, but to like make these parallels in your mind, you know it's like, well, that's not how it was in the book, you know, or that's not. That's not how it was in the book, you know, or that's not. That's not. My grand Admiral Thrawn from the book and I think that's where a lot of the hate comes from too is like people aren't willing to let go of what isn't canon any longer. You know I was like that with the bad batch. You know it's like the bad batch should have been the um Republic commandos.

Speaker 3
27:34
Well, I mean, have been the um republic commandos. Well, I mean, that's, that's all you had in between all those years, yeah, and now all of a sudden they're like no right, here, here's some new stuff and you're trying to figure it out. So yeah um, even for me, I was like what?

Speaker 1
27:48
because I knew a lot of the books because of you, sure, obviously, um, and for years and years, and years that's what we talk about because we're old yeah so but like, like the with the, uh, the sequels, it's like oh, you guys had so there were so many opportunities to draw from the books and do something, but the sequels, the sequels are fine. There's. I mean I don't want to say anything bad about the sequels because I don't want to, I don't want to incur Daddy Louie's wrath, but we'll get there, and that's not what we're here to do.

28:18
That's not what we're here to do. We're not here to do that. So my level of knowledge, I would say for original trilogy and the EU and Mandalorian stuff, I would probably give myself like a nine, upper nine, maybe not quite 10. I don't think I'd put myself at 10. I don't know.

Speaker 3
28:44
And like just that first story is a 10. Are you kidding? Well, I mean I you know, I remember when he walked, I mean that's the original trilogy.

Speaker 1
28:53
I mean that's when you don't have Star Wars for 30 years. I mean, but that's the original trilogy. I mean that's when you don't have Star Wars for 30 years. I mean you wear those VHS tapes at the fuck out. That's true. Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 3
29:01
Like how the fuck, did I burn through a CD. So they don't work anymore.

Speaker 1
29:05
Right, it's like we were so happy to get it on Blu-ray because it's like at least it's more durable, that shit's gonna last. Yes, so, but yeah, so, that's, you know, and, and that's why, that's why I do say, like you know, there's, there's a lot of star wars I don't like, but I'm still grateful for having some lore. I'm grateful for, you know, that we finally got to see this battle between, you know, anakin and obi-wan. You know, all we ever knew was that obi-wan fought anakin, you know, near a volcano basically, and that was that, that was, and that was just kind of alluded to. You know, and then for 20 years, it's like what the fuck happened to boba fett? There's no way, there's no way that he died in that sarlacc pit, there is no way. So, and then the books, the books addressed that a little bit here and there, but even that, you know, dengar pulls Boba Fett out of the pit, him, you know, boba crawls out, but then Dengar is the one who nurses him back to health.

30:08
Anyway, all right. So then that's, that's the show.

Speaker 4
30:11
That's his level of Star Wars.

Speaker 1
30:13
That's the show. That's what's going to happen. So welcome to the show everyone. That's what's going to be happening, so you already know what's going to be going on for next week. So the homework assignment is to watch some Young Jedi Adventures. Watch as much as you want. At least watch one episode, because we're going to come back next week and we're going to talk about it and may the force be with you and may the fourth be with you.

30:38
Happy star wars day, everyone, of course. Yep, because it is a star wars day. And yesterday and sherry, you brought this to my attention, I didn't even know. Yesterday mark hamill was at the white house. Yep, like, invited to the white house, chilling did a little interview.

Speaker 3
30:54
It was super cute.

Speaker 1
30:55
And what? What did he ask Biden, he could call him. What did he say?

Speaker 3
30:59
Oh, um Joby one yeah.

Speaker 4
31:03
Or something.

Speaker 1
31:05
I think it was Joby, yeah, yeah, joby Cause Mark, mark, mark or the president said you can call me Joe, and then Mark is like well, can I call you Joby One Kenobi.

Speaker 3
31:15
Yes.

Speaker 1
31:17
Fucking Mark Hamill, you treasure.

Speaker 3
31:19
And he's got he. He went away with uh, with our president's uh stunners. Yeah, his, his aviators aviators.

Speaker 1
31:27
He gave him his aviators the president of the United States aviator glasses.

Speaker 3
31:34
And he, he, yeah, he just told the crowd, like you can ask me anything, but no star Wars questions, which I thought was funny.

Speaker 1
31:41
Right.

31:42
Reminded me a big bang anyway, but he was chilling at the podium in the press room of the of the white house with his glasses on just a boss. Mark Hamill is a boss Now. Once we get to the part where we're watching Whitehouse with his glasses on Just a boss, mark Hamill's a boss. Now. Once we get to the part where we're watching the original trilogy on our show here, we need to reach out to Mark and see if he'll come on with us, yeah, and talk a little bit about the original trilogy, and then, when we start talking about the Mandalorian, I want to bring him on again.

Speaker 3
32:09
It was super cute. It was super cute.

Speaker 1
32:11
Yeah.

Speaker 3
32:12
Mark Hamillill, and we share a birthday. Do you really?

Speaker 1
32:15
yes, you and mark hamill share a birthday. Yep, get out of town.

Speaker 3
32:21
Oh, we gotta have him on then, absolutely we have, and christopher reeves, but I know that's another genre we.

Speaker 1
32:28
I don't think we can get him on the show. We'll try. We'll try. Who mark christopher? We'll try to do christopher, christopher, yeah, I can say it's well, reach out, to reach out to mark yeah, just say hey, you're, you're. You know we're birthday twins. He's got a couple years on you just just 10 just 10 years, 10 really, I'm kidding, he's get out of here 72, I'm joking.

Speaker 3
32:52
I'm joking, 20 years All right.

Speaker 1
32:54
So in other news today, the uh, the premiere of tales of the empire drops. Oh yeah, um, that's uh, I'm I'm looking forward to that. I haven't watched it yet, I'm looking forward to it. So similar to uh, wait, all six episodes.

Speaker 4
33:16
I thought it was like oh, no, no.

Speaker 1
33:19
That dropped two days. So after we're done, I'm going to watch it. So it is similar to Tales of the Jedi. It's going to give you two stories from the perspective of two different characters Morgan Elspeth and Barista Coffee, or Barriss Offey as some other people like to call her. And if we're not going to get into details about barris offy just yet, we will get to her. But tragic story, tragic, tragic tale with barris offy. Um, so all six episodes do drop on the same day and I I want to know how you guys feel about that, because the bad batch was released weekly. The bad batch did not come out just in one shot. So what do you, what do you guys think about? Getting everything at once or waiting for it? You know, waiting for that episodic content a week at a time I personally prefer to be just batch dropped.

Speaker 2
34:17
Um, just because I know me like I'm impatient, okay, so like for me, everything that gets dropped, you know, sequentially, I just end up waiting for it all to be out, anyways, okay yeah, I totally agree with tony yeah, sure you like to, you like to binge it yeah, I like to binge watch it.

Speaker 3
34:38
It's awesome.

Speaker 1
34:40
All right, All right, Louie. What about you? You're still thinking.

Speaker 4
34:46
You've been thinking this whole time Well, I mean, the pandemic really ruined me. As far as binge watching goes right, Because that's all we basically did during the pandemic was binge watch TV, but I also grew up in a time when waiting week after week was normal right um, I think it just depends on the content, to be honest with you, because, like for me, like let's take mandalorian for an example.

35:15
Mandalorian, season 2, episode 10, I guess, when, when luke comes back spoiler alert, um, I don't know that that that scenes like that are as impactful if you binged the whole season right up until that, you know what I mean like having that extra anticipation, like we waited a whole week for that episode. You know what I mean like having that extra anticipation, like we waited a whole week for that episode. You know what I mean.

35:42
Like I don't know okay, that's a very, I feel like that I think that the built up, the build-up of anticipation can make certain things more impactful, and that's a good example. Whereas, you know, had you gone episode to episode to episode, I just feel like there's certain things that lose their drama, I guess.

Speaker 2
36:06
Yeah, I totally agree with that. I think that there are very much merits to both sides, like you know, for example, you know going back to Mandalorian, you know some of our you know if we have some carryover fans will remember that we went and did watch throughs of those episodes and reviewed them week to week and talked about them, and that's the type of thing that you can't really do when it's done as a batch Right, not to mention which things get spoiled more because spoiled more because the batch gets dropped. That being said, for me I only base it on. That's just how I will end up watching it. So for me it's more convenient to just have a batch dropped, but that's not to say that it's the right way.

Speaker 3
36:55
I think with the batch drops too, the only problem. I love them, but the only thing is is then you have to wait for the next season.

Speaker 1
37:05
Yeah, which could be?

Speaker 3
37:05
years.

Speaker 2
37:06
Which could be years.

Speaker 3
37:06
So I think that is so I get it, louis. You know what I mean. If you do it week to week at least, we're almost like you know at least 12 weeks or whatever how many episodes there is, and you have that 12 weeks to enjoy it. So yeah, I get it, and then you, and then you're done.

Speaker 4
37:27
And then there's certain, I mean, and there's certain properties now across multiple platforms that do these seasons where it would be like season eight part one will be in January and then in April seasons where it'll be like season 8 part 1 will be in January and then in April, which is just a couple months later, part 2 of that same season will come out. Stranger Things did it like Rebel Moon. They're doing it with Rebel Moon right now where they're releasing it in parts. They record it all together. They just release it like here's part 1, here's 4 episodes, here's part 2, here's 4 episodes, and I here's part two, here's four episodes.

38:00
And I think that's to kind of help build that anticipation that again, you lose with batch dropping, so maybe they'll start doing that with something Star Wars related. One of the other issues that you have with week to week and we've seen this with Mandalorian, especially where you have this anticipation of an episode Well, what if you have a slow episode or an episode that's not as impactful as some others. So then people are like you know, like that wasn't, that was a lackluster episode. I waited all week for that lackluster episode.

Speaker 3
38:39
I gotta wait another week for another one, and that's sometimes the good thing about batching.

Speaker 4
38:45
Right.

Speaker 3
38:45
Having it all together. That's one of the pros to that, because then you just watch it real quick and you're going to get it Go to the next one. Yeah, so I mean, I don't know.

Speaker 1
38:55
I don't know, I don't know, I like I like both. I think yeah, I, I, I do, I agree, I agree.

Speaker 3
39:00
Sure, we were raised on that.

Speaker 1
39:02
You know, waiting, waiting, a week at a time, yeah, it's like, yeah, I like I look at, I look at the clone wars and that was grew up, that's. You know it was originally what? Six seasons and there was quite a gap between season six and seven, but still, I mean that's six years ish. You know five years of your life. You know if you're 10 years old you're watching the clone wars, you know into your teens, you know you're growing up with it and I think that's you know, I don't know like I obviously it's. You know it's not star wars related, but but the Fallout series loved it, absolutely loved it. I've watched it twice, two and a half times already. But I have to say I really do wish that it would have been released one episode a week, I think. For something like that, I think it would have been nice to maybe have that buildup, have that anticipation. You know Bad B, maybe have that build up, have that anticipation.

40:01
Um, you know bad batch I you know they just wrapped. I mean it was a series wrap just happened. Um, you know, and, tony, like you said, if we have any carryover listeners from you know our other shows. Um, I'm not a fan of the bad batch. I really I'm like, oh, I really I kind of shit on the bad batch pretty, pretty hard. But this last season was good. It was really really good. I was quite surprised it was. I liked the Bad Batch man. I can't believe I'm saying that We'll get into the Bad Batch, of course in later scenes. I agree with you guys. I think that there's definitely pros and cons to a Batch drop versus that weekly episodic content.

Speaker 3
40:44
So I'm excited to watch new things. I don't know about the kids show, but we'll see you might like it I probably will like it. Who knows?

Speaker 1
40:53
we watch silly stuff all the time we do it might be fun um, it'll be fun.

Speaker 3
40:58
I'll have a little wine.

Speaker 1
41:00
Yeah, have a few bottles of wine. I mean a few glasses of wine.

Speaker 4
41:03
A few sips.

Speaker 1
41:04
Juice boxes. That's right. We can't drink wine while we're watching a kid's show, but we can drink adult juice boxes. Or we can put vodka in a juice box. Can't we Done it?

Speaker 4
41:16
You can pour the juice box out of the box and put it in Well pour out half and then replace it with with the vodka.

Speaker 3
41:24
You want to put it in the juice box, cause that's, that's what makes it that's your experience.

Speaker 2
41:29
There you go.

Speaker 3
41:30
I've done it. It's great Things you do as a teenager.

Speaker 1
41:35
Oh, my God.

Speaker 3
41:37
When you're not allowed to drink so major, oh my god, when you're not allowed to drink so in juice boxes and um and cooking wine. That's really fun. Oh boy, it's weird.

Speaker 1
41:46
Wow, you get drunk hey, I mean, I used to hear about people filtering uh mouthwash through bread no, I wouldn't do that, but I've heard of that. Yes I have, I've, I don't have any personal experience with that myself. Yeah, don't do that there better not be any kids listening to this show anyway, you know if there's any children listening to this show your parents fucking suck. I'm just letting you know that right your parents are the worst that's on you, that's on you, all right.

42:11
so coming up next week, we are going to be discussing, of course, as we had said, the young jedi adventures. It's going to be our intro, our journey into the high republic. Um, and if you want to find out more about our season roadmap, you can head on over to our website circle of nerdscom, slash the sws show, or you can, of follow us on all the social media. At the SWS show, I try to get Star Wars sucks, but, no surprise, all of those names are taken. Like every platform, there are people that already have those handles Star Wars sucks. I don't know why. I can't imagine why. There's a lot of hate out there. There's a lot, a lot of hate out there.

Speaker 3
42:58
And this is not about hate.

Speaker 1
42:59
It's not, and that's the thing.

Speaker 3
43:00
that's why you know this will draw you to watch it maybe it's not about hate, but fuck those guys.

Speaker 2
43:06
Yeah, fuck those guys.

Speaker 3
43:08
But they might see it and be like, oh, I'm gonna watch this.

Speaker 1
43:10
And then they start watching it and then they're like, or listening to it, and then they're like oh or okay, maybe, maybe I can give star wars a chance or they're going to watch it and be like, oh, we need to shut the fuck up because, true, the circle of nerds crew will come for us, yeah, so, but yeah so, head on over the website, check it out A circle of nerdscom. Slash the S W S show and look at our, our roadmap. We're going to be doing tales, tales, the jedi phantom menace, uh, more tales, the jedi attack of the clones, and we are going to wrap this first season up, um, with the clone wars micro series, which is not canon, as we had mentioned, but um, we're going to watch this brilliant fan edit, and what this person did with the fan edit was they made it canon. It's a fan canon, but um, a fanon. I like that. I think you just, I think you just coined a phrase it's fanon that's what I do.

Speaker 3
44:07
Fucking love that sauce, sauce yeah, fanon, fanon.

Speaker 1
44:11
So, uh, it's basically they cut out all of the stuff that was removed from canon. So you know, obviously, you know. You know we've got obi-wan, we've got general grievous, we've got, you know, all these other big players in the micro series. But there were other things that happened in the micro series that just, for whatever reason, never made it um, past that. So, but we're going to be watching part one and two of the fan edit and then, um, so yeah, that's our roadmap for the rest of the season Once we start season two. That's Clone Wars. That's Clone Wars, friends, that's going to be a long season. It's going to be fun. I'm looking forward to it.

Speaker 3
44:53
I just want to remind our listeners and viewers that it's Mother's Day next weekend.

Speaker 1
45:01
Get your mom something nice.

Speaker 3
45:02
Don mom something nice, don't forget. You're a nerd, I know, but don't forget don't forget your mother's out there.

Speaker 1
45:09
Don't forget your mother. Don't forget your mother.

Speaker 3
45:11
I just had to put that out, because sometimes like is that okay?

Speaker 1
45:15
hold on, hold, on, hold on now. Is that for our listeners? Yeah, or is that for me? Was that directed to me?

45:19
or okay, you're good all right, yeah, I already went shopping. So I mean we're, we're good, so um. So also in in the coming episodes this was just kind of our getting to know us episode and um. But as we move forward, we're going to have some segments on the show, probably be doing a little bit, a little more news. We'll have some star wars history, like this week in star wars history, things like that, um, and we're gonna, you know, just kind of flesh things out. But uh, no, we just wanted to introduce ourselves, say howdy ramble, for an hour, and then uh, and then that's about it. So, uh, before I get to pimpin, does anybody have anything that they want to say? And anything, uh, wrap anything up with go ahead and pip away yeah, pimp it out.

46:00
Louie Sherry, you guys got anything no, just happy May the 4th happy Star Wars day. Hey, louie, do you have any painting shows coming up anytime soon? No, okay, alright alright okay our very own daddy louis is a phenomenal, uh miniature painter and has uh painted many, many miniatures for renegade games. So, uh, we'll have to do some kind of show star war stuff too yeah, he needs to get henry cavill on yeah because he loves to paint miniature yeah, apparently.

46:41
Uh, everyone's man crush henry yeah, maybe I'll reach out, reach out, get him on the show. Don't reach out too much, I mean. I mean, keep your hands to yourself, but I mean, you know you know, it's. It's henry, it's, it's fine, it's cavill it's fine, just let it.

Speaker 4
46:56
Just let her go I just want to.

Speaker 1
46:58
I just want to watch. Is that cool? I would be a cuck for Cavill. Cuck for Cavill, that's a t-shirt.

Speaker 3
47:05
Cucking for Cavill. Oh my god, I love it, oh boy.

Speaker 1
47:11

We've got, uh, we've got a few of them, but uh, we've got a few, but there's really only two that are well. There's none. A few of them. We've got a few, but there's really only two that are well. There's none of them that are really active.

Speaker 3
48:43
We'll get there.

Speaker 1
48:46
But the Star Wars Sucks YouTube channel is going to start blowing up. We've also got the Khan Games crew, so that's actually got like one of the videos I post. Well, the only video I posted. It's got like 500 views on it already. So I was like, oh okay, that's more than anything on our circle of nerds maybe we'll start some unboxing maybe you need to start doing more of that yeah, we do, we got.

49:12
