Speaker 1:

Hi, loves, welcome to the Journey to the Soul podcast. I am your host, jacinda Villa, a spiritual life coach and holistic health coach. Every week, we will be diving deep into all things purpose, wellness, spirituality and creating the life that you dream of. This space is meant to be safe and transformative for you to dive into the deepest parts of yourself. I will share what I have learned from my journey along this path years of research and mentors along the way. Having spent many years living life out of alignment and afraid to go after my dreams, I know firsthand what it means to take the first step down, living a life authentic to you. We are on this road of self-discovery together. It is time for you to live the life you imagined. Hello, my loves, welcome back. I am cozied up here with a warm cup of tea, ready to dive into this week's conversation with you. We are going to be talking a little bit about chakras. In particular, we're going to be looking at the heart chakra and how this is the path to experiencing unconditional love in this lifetime, and I am really looking forward to sharing all of this with you so that we could all experience more of this beautiful energy in our life.

Speaker 1:

To start, chakras are energy centers in the body. In Sanskrit, the word chakra translates to wheel or disc, so they are spinning energy centers within the body, and the chakra system goes back a very long time and can be found as early as in the Vedas, and the Vedas are a body of wisdom that is the foundation to Ayurveda and Hinduism, which are some of the oldest bodies of knowledge in Eastern philosophy, and perhaps some of you guys have heard of the term chakra before. With new age teachings becoming more and more prevalent, they have become more common to discuss, but chakras have really been a pivotal part of spiritual teaching for a long time. They really have been the backbone of so much of the esoteric philosophies that exist today, and the reason for this is because chakras determine how and where energy flows through your body, and this is so important because it allows you to live in harmony. It allows you to be able to experience love, joy, peace, vitality, abundance, good health and all the goodness in the world. Each chakra can help us in all of these things, and that's why working with them can be so pivotal to our healing mind, body and soul. Your chakras are really a doorway and they can help us create a deeper understanding of where you are at this moment in time and how we can clear energy for you to be your most optimal self. The goal is for us to activate our chakras as time goes on. If we have not connected with that energy very much in our life thus far, or it is also possible that we're trying to balance, anyone that may be overstimulated. So when we're working with our chakras, it's about creating balance and harmony within ourselves.

Speaker 1:

There are a total of seven main chakras. There are a total of seven main chakras. There's really more. There's a lot of belief systems out there regarding how many there is. I know that in Hinduism and in yogic teachings they discuss nine chakras, but some say that there is a hundred, or there are many, many hundreds and hundreds of them that make up part of who we are. But there are seven main chakras that are most commonly discussed, so we will be talking about one of those in particular today.

Speaker 1:

In this episode, we will be touching on the heart chakra and how it can be a door for us to experience unconditional love. My intention is to, in time, to touch on all of the chakras and how we can work with them, but today. I am really looking forward to touching on this chakra in particular, which I feel is perhaps one that most of us close ourselves off to really receiving love. We have fears, and with good reason, so we don't allow ourselves to be loved fully or to love another fully. By looking at the wisdom that the chakra can bring us, we will be able to see how this is all tied to one another. To experience these high expressions, these beautiful emotions, we need to really work on healing ourselves, to not fear love, to love ourselves fully, to know what it is to love another deeply. There is so much depth to this, and we will be touching on all of this in today's episode.

Speaker 1:

Some of you that may be listening may be uncomfortable by the thoughts of any of those things which may indicate that your heart chakra may be more closed off. Others of you may have it half open and want to do it more deeply and effectively, to be able to love even more and to give love even more. Or perhaps your heart chakra is open and it is easy for you to give and receive love with ease. You love yourself so fully. You are compassionate towards those around you, regardless of where you may be. You are here right now and this is where you are meant to be for your highest evolution. Perhaps this is the time to finally heal this relationship with yourself or with others. This really takes time and vulnerability. As we actively start working with any chakra, and what can come up when we actually begin that process, our bodies and minds take in so much. There could be experiences from your past that have affected the flow of energy in a chakra. Sometimes they may be experiences that we don't even remember. We have no recollection of them, or it could have been something more recently in your life that you experienced. The point is that you really never know what might come up. Therefore, you want to be gentle and nurture yourself as much as you need.

Speaker 1:

The heart chakra is called anahata in Sanskrit, and each chakra has a name in Sanskrit because that's where they are derived from, and this chakra sits right over our actual heart. So it's over our heart space, over our heart space, and a reason that our heart chakra might be closed or blocked is because in this area lies grief, heartbreak and emotional pain. So when it is blocked, we may feel despair, pain. So when it is blocked, we may feel despair, hopelessness and pessimism when it comes to matters of the heart, and the matters of the heart that we are discussing can encompass many forms of love. We all know that there are multitude of ways to love another person. This can be romantic love, maternal love, brotherly love or love for all people, for all beings. The highest expression of the heart chakra is that it allows us to feel compassion for all people. This is where the deepest form and love and affection lie. You can love others as deeply as you love yourself. You can help and heal the planet with this vibration. This is where all of this lies within you. After taking a look at this, we can see how having a closed heart chakra can affect how we give and receive love.

Speaker 1:

We give conditional love. We put up walls, we hold out on how much we give to others. We tell ourselves that we won't give others love unless they meet certain requirements that we have set, unless they fulfill our needs in some way. It is a way for us to exert control and control the heartache that can come with having an open heart. It makes us feel more in our power. But conditional love is selfish. It has expectations. It wants control. It puts the needs of the person ahead of anyone else, and it is critical ahead of anyone else. And it is critical. But when we speak of unconditional love, this is what a lot of us fall towards. This is how love is selfless. It does not have expectations. It seeks freedom and wants to understand. This includes love we give ourselves and others. If we are to give love to others in our life, we need to learn how to do it with an open heart. Unconditional love is honoring and respecting every person, even if you don't agree with their choices, their religion, their lifestyle, how they parent, what they do for a living, how they dress, how they deal with certain situations. It's about learning to love the person regardless of any of that.

Speaker 1:

I want to give you some practical ways that you can start opening your heart chakra and with all of these suggestions, it's really about helping you tune into these frequencies, especially if it is foreign to you. The first thing that we can do is using affirmations. Say them out loud and really feel them as you speak, embody them. You may notice some resistance when you say them, but I encourage you to remain curious and observant. And it may trigger some resistance, but with devotion and time, these words will become your truth. So some beautiful affirmations to open the heart chakra. I am worthy of love and deserving of all that comes my way. My words and actions are rooted in love. Love is the greatest gift I can offer. I acknowledge, then let go of pain and embrace emotional healing. My heart leads me to my highest potential. Heart leads me to my highest potential.

Speaker 1:

Something that could be used alongside affirmations are crystals, and crystals all carry their own unique energy. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of different kinds of crystals that you can work with, but if you have never worked with crystals before, you could simply have them around you anywhere that you might want or need to feel into the energy and support that the crystal is providing. You can wear it as jewelry. You can meditate with them. By working with crystals that support the heart chakra, you can get additional support and really tune into this energy. I personally have a rose quartz bracelet that I love to use when I meditate or when I'm saying certain affirmations, but I have plenty of crystals scattered around my home for different things. When I want to tune into my creativity or my intuition, there are crystals to help you to tune into anything, so they can be incredibly supportive on your healing or evolution. Some great crystals to work with for the heart chakra is rose quartz, and it reminds you of your worthiness to be loved. If you struggle with loving yourself, which is the foundation to everything we have discussed, this crystal could be wonderful for you to work with Mangano Calciite. This is another great crystal.

Speaker 1:

If you are working through heartbreak. It helps you work through trauma that has happened in the heart, through trauma that has happened in the heart no-transcript Meditation. There are different forms of meditation that can really help you tune into this energy. In Buddhism, they have a practice called loving-kindness love for all beings. It is a central part of their teachings and a fundamental part of this practice is loving-kindness meditations. You can find countless of these meditations on YouTube Insight Timer Calm app. If you really struggle to open your heart to others, I encourage you to try this practice. I encourage you to try this practice. The practice of loving kindness meditations allows you to radiate love outside of yourself to all beings, to the people in your life that you love, and the people in your life that perhaps bring some kind of resistance, and people that you don't know bring some kind of resistance, and people that you don't know. So it really is a wonderful practice to take on if you want to open your heart chakra a bit more.

Speaker 1:

The heart chakra was the first chakra that I started working with and it has been my deepest wound. I know that I have mentioned this in other podcast episodes. To this day, I still continue to work on it, and I know it's not easy. I have struggled with my sense of self-worth since I was a child. I was born into a family to a mother who didn't want me, who never expressed love to me, my entire life, my entire childhood. So this is what I experienced from the moment I came into this world. I did not know any different. This was all I knew, my only truth, until I got to adulthood and realized that I truly had no love for myself and therefore didn't know what unconditional love was until I was 25. This was my experience, but everyone's will be different. Everyone has a different reason for their heart being closed off to love, and what really inspired me to talk about this with you today is that, from my experience, I know that we are all worthy of love, and the fact that so many of us feel like we are not, is absolutely heartbreaking, or how many of us have given up on love, or how we feel like we are only worthy of a certain kind of love, or a love that is not deep or respectful or fills us up in the most beautiful way.

Speaker 1:

Love can be so many things, as we discuss today. The love you wish to experience is the love you are meant to give to the world. Be the love you wish to attract in your life. If you want love, give love freely. More will flow into your life. If you are trying to attract love into your life, focus on tuning into that feeling as much as possible. There is so much depth here. The more you touch into this, the love that you have for others will deepen.

Speaker 1:

Perhaps you have heard the saying that you can only love others as deeply as you love yourself, and this is why, because if you are harboring grief or despair in your heart, that will inhibit the kind of love you can experience in the moment and the love that you can give another person. And I feel like so many of us experience this and we constantly choose to reinforce our fears rather than being vulnerable and opening our hearts more. This is the opposite way. This is not the way to experience unconditional love. We are closing ourselves off to one of the highest expressions we get to experience in this life Love is the path to get there. After spending so much of my life having this closed off and now being able to experience the other beautiful extreme of unconditional love, I can truly say that it is so worth the discomfort that comes from doing this. You view the world through a beautiful rose-colored lens and this love radiates from every part of you Love for yourself, love for those you love, love for yourself, love for those you love, love for those you don't know but still love every stranger, every being. This not only benefits you, but it benefits every single person that gets to interact with you. It radiates out of your being you. It radiates out of your being. Here is us to experiencing all the beautiful emotions and feelings we are meant to in this lifetime, because the magic does exist.
