Speaker 1:

Hi, loves, welcome to the Journey to the Soul podcast. I am your host, jacinda Villa, a spiritual life coach and holistic health coach. Every week, we will be diving deep into all things purpose, wellness, spirituality and creating the life that you dream of. This space is meant to be safe and transformative for you to dive into the deepest parts of yourself. I will share what I have learned from my journey along this path years of research and mentors along the way. Having spent many years living life out of alignment and afraid to go after my dreams, I know firsthand what it means to take the first step down, living a life authentic to you. We are on this road of self-discovery together. It is time for you to live the life you imagined. Hello, loves, welcome to another episode of Journey to the Soul.

Speaker 1:

This week, I wanted to discuss our past versions of ourselves and learning to be grateful for the many versions of us that brought us to where we are. When we think about our past, sometimes a lot of us may feel shame, disappointment or embarrassed for those past versions of us, and I know that we have all done things that we wish we wouldn't have done, or we wish we would have chosen differently, and perhaps we've even done things that we can't imagine telling anyone about our past. We really have so much shame, so much negativity around it, but to truly love yourself in the now, you really need to learn to love those past versions of you, regardless of what they did, who they were, how they treated people, what they chose to put their energy on. And I know that for some of us that may be listening to this, we might feel regrets about that when we think about it. When you know better, you do better. When we think about it, when you know better, you do better. And it's ultimately up to us to choose to do better. And if you are listening to this, it's because you have a growth mindset and you want to expand and evolve and be everything that you were meant to be in this world, because that's ultimately what we all deserve and are capable of, and I know that I've said this in another podcast, but the ability to expand from our experiences is one of the greatest gifts of life. It's for you to be able to learn today and try again tomorrow, to wake up each and every day with an open heart to give your best at life again. This is how we gain knowledge. This is how we progress and this allows us to take complete responsibility over our life, because we realize that the choice is within us. We can choose to make the most out of where we are or let life happen to us, which is what many people do. Life is happening for us, though we are an active participant in that.

Speaker 1:

I want you to take a look at your growth in the last 10 years. Perhaps you have gone through multiple evolutions in the last 10 years. I know I definitely have. Think of those different versions of you, the constant rebirth and expansion that you have gone through, everything that you've learned and put into practice into your life, even the way that you dress, the way that you talk. Think of yourself 10 years ago. Bring that person to mind. Do you recognize them? Would they recognize who you are today? And I'm sure you have had so much growth and evolution when you think back to everything that you have overcome in the last 10 years. And it's because you've broken through your glass ceilings time and time again to get where you are today.

Speaker 1:

And I want you to think of your present. Think to now what that version of you 10 years ago could have ever imagined that this would be your life, where you are sitting, the house you're living in, the city you're living in if you have a partner, a family, the clothes you're wearing, how you feel, how it feels to be alive. You feel how it feels to be alive. For many of us, it may be beyond what we could have imagined for ourselves, and for others it may have been exactly what we wished for, or we could land somewhere in between as well. Perhaps you are not where you want to be. You still can't disregard where you are and what it took for you to get to this point. You have still grown in some way, so I want you to look closely. Every single step you have taken has brought you to this moment in time. It all builds on one another.

Speaker 1:

This is not in vain. Progress looks like so many things, and many times we feel that if the people around us can't see it, then we are not progressing. If it is not clearly visible, then that internal progress does not matter. But I want you to think about the wars that you have fought within yourself, that no one else has been aware of, the battles that you have won against your demons, and it may not look like living in a certain city or house, having a certain amount of money, having kids or traveling the world like some of the other stuff that you may have wished for, but you need to acknowledge that it is progress nonetheless, and I'd have to argue that this is some of the greatest progress we can make in our life. It is fighting the battles within ourselves time and time again and rising with each one, gaining strength, experience, courage. Gaining strength, experience courage, stepping into yourself with every single one, building resilience.

Speaker 1:

In moments of this growth and expansion, it is so important for us to focus on our path and where we are, not what is happening around you, not looking to what everyone else is doing, who is living where, or traveling to exotic places or getting married and having kids. Allow yourself to be centered on your sacred life, that you wake up and live each and every day, because with each day that you choose to do so, you get closer and closer to all that is meant for you, and there is something to be said about being comfortable with yourself, with your life, the person you are, what you are doing in this moment, what you are putting your energy into, who you are becoming, that is worth so much more than we give value to, even if it doesn't look like everyone else's progress. This is your path, your becoming, and it is exactly what is meant for you, and you have all the time in the world to become all that you want to be. But we must also acknowledge that there are different seasons of life.

Speaker 1:

One of my favorite quotes by Lao Tzu is that nature does not hurry. Do not rush where you are going. Do not wish this to be faster or to already be where you want to be. Be so incredibly proud of where you are, how resilient and brave you have been, all the battles you had to fight to be here in this moment in time. You would not be who you are without them, and I have been feeling that so greatly in my life and I've shared a little bit on the podcast about some of my lived experiences. And there is a lot of negative stuff that happened in my upbringing, in my life, but I would not wish any of it away because I would not be who I am today without these experiences. I have gained so much from them, regardless of how negative they are and how much they did challenge me, really challenged me to grow and expand and to heal and to not let them debilitate me, to create the life that I wanted for myself, to live the life that I wanted for myself.

Speaker 1:

Bad things happen in life.

Speaker 1:

That is a part of being human in life. That is a part of being human. But I really want us to love and honor those parts of us, every experience, good and bad, that has brought us here. So I want you to allow yourself to feel the peace, knowing that, day by day, you are getting to where you are meant to be. Even if it doesn't look like everyone else's life, even if it doesn't make sense to the people in your life, even if it means it takes time, you are on your path, and allow yourself to feel so much love and acceptance and compassion for all those versions of you that brought you to this moment in time.

Speaker 1:
