If we are waiting for Messiah's return, then the Messianic Kingdom is not completely established on earth. We have the Kingdom within us, and we carry it wherever we go, but we're still living in the kingdoms of this world. In a sense, we are in exile, just like our Jewish brethren who are also waiting on the revelation of Messiah's Kingdom. That's why Barry Phillips and David Jones start their conversation by looking at the experience of Daniel and the exiles of Judah. How did they remain true to their identity, their values, and their God? What lessons can we draw from those ancient Hebrew exiles that apply to our present reality?
