Struggle to Connect

The fifth chapter of the Gospel of Mark tells the story of a woman who had suffered from excessive bleeding for twelve years.

She had tried everything. She had been to multiple doctors, endured multiple treatments and had spent everything she had and still kept getting worse.

When she heard about Jesus, she knew in her heart that if she could just touch him, she’d be healed.

It was a struggle for her to get to him. There was a huge crowd between her, and him and a woman in her condition was not supposed to be out in a crowd anyhow.

She had to fight through her own exhaustion, defy social convention, and fight through crowd to make her connection.

Genuinely connecting with God through our connections with each other is a struggle, but that connection heals us in ways nothing else can.

So we have to struggle through our previous bad experiences, through our fatigue and our fear of being disappointed again. Keep going until we find the connection that makes us whole.
