It’s ok. Not everyone is going to like you.

“If any place will not welcome you and they refuse to hear you, as you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet as a testimony against them." - Mark 6:11

Nearly all of us have desire to be accepted, to be welcomed, to be embraced and affirmed. This is particularly true when we know that we have good hearts and good intentions.

Jesus sent his disciples out on a literal mission of hope and healing. Their sole intentions were to be a blessing to those they encountered and to encourage everyone they met that better days ahead were not only possible but inevitable.

Jesus prepared his disciples that regardless of their good intentions, not everyone was going to be willing or even able to receive them. Not everyone was going to welcome them with open arms.

Jesus essentially told his disciples that that was on them. Don’t be angry or bitter. Don’t curse them or wish horrible things upon them. Just shake the dust off your feet and keep it moving.

I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Peace be with you.
