Some of the old pastors I was around growing up use to say that some folk are so heavenly bound that they ain’t no earthly good.
(Old… Shucks, I’m older now than many of them were then. But I digress.)
The point is that this life is gift. Maybe not every day is a celebration. But when we live life with appreciation we find gratitude, and in gratitude we find joy.
When Paul made his list of the fruits or gifts of the Spirit, joy comes just after love and right before peace.
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” -Galations 5:22
