Does our religion bring joy?

From time to time, we all need to do an alignment check. We have to ask ourselves if what we are doing is working for us both individually and collectively.

When it comes to our religion and spirituality, if it’s not helping us become more loving, more patient, more peaceful, and more joyful we need to recalibrate.

If our religion and spiritually isn’t equipping, empowering, and inspiring us to build a better world, if it’s not giving us the strength and endurance to persist, we are not doing it right.

Properly practiced, we have same reaction the people of Israel had when they returned from exile and learned how together they could create their dream world.

Then all the people went away to eat and drink, to send portions of food and to celebrate with great joy, because they now understood the words that had been made known to them.” - Nehemiah 8:12

It’s not supposed to be about fear, guilt and shame. It’s about faith, hope, and love  which ultimately leads to joy.
