Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Liz Lemon.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a mobile detailing crew? Surprisingly, you might be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your neighbor, tyler Young, with Wash and Roll Mobile Detailing. How are you doing today, tyler?

Speaker 3:

Doing well, doing well. Thanks for asking.

Speaker 2:

Great, we're excited to learn all about you and your business. So tell us about Wash and Roll.

Speaker 3:

So Wash and Roll is a fully mobile detailing service servicing Hampshire and Hampton counties. We come to you, so that's the convenience of it, right? We alleviate the need to kind of figure out, okay, who's going to help me drop my car off, right? So that's one of the huge benefits of us is the convenience of us coming to you.

Speaker 2:

How did you get into the business?

Speaker 3:

the business. I had the idea back in 2019 after seeing another mobile detailer in the area, and I didn't take the opportunity. When I had it. Originally, I had to sit on it for a little while and give it some thought, you know. But yeah, that's kind of how it came about seeing someone else do it, wanting the freedoms that came with that in regards to having more time at home, essentially, you know.

Speaker 2:

Right. What are the myths and misconceptions within that industry?

Speaker 3:

Oh, that's a good one. So the biggest ones that I hear all the time, especially when, like, let's say, a customer is inquiring about a detail, the difference between, like what a detail consists of and what, let's say, just cleaning your car consists of, or washing your car per se. That's very different from what we do. Essentially, your car is getting washed, right, your car is getting cleaned, but it's a more extensive process than just taking a microfiber towel and wiping down the doors and and whatnot.

Speaker 2:

You know what I mean right a lot of different um, parts and aspects to it outside of work. What do you do for fun?

Speaker 3:

um. Well, to be honest with you, doing this um has been quite fun. Um, recently leaving my nine to five um at the end of 2023, um, and doing this full-time has been amazing. Um, but other than that, I'm just a homebody really. I love being with the kids. I have two small children. I do a lot of physical activity. You know there's that for fun. I like to. Every Sunday, I sit in the ice bath for fun, so my version of fun can be a little different, right?

Speaker 2:

Right, that's important for health as well.

Speaker 3:

For sure, Physical and mental, I'd say for sure.

Speaker 2:

Let's change gears just for a moment. Can you describe one hardship or life challenges that you rose above and can now say, because of it you're better and stronger? What comes to mind?

Speaker 3:

what comes to mind for sure? Um, a few things, definitely, but one that stands out the most, I'd say, um, back in 2010, I had, um unfortunately, lost my father due to, uh, lung cancer and um, having to uh, you know, watching that happen, watching the process of of him deteriorate, essentially, um, and then being 18 years old, right, like needing that person to call on, right, like, oh, hey, how do I do this? You know, um, what do I do when you know those types of things? Um, and then to be that age and then realize, like no one's coming you know what I'm saying like you have to do it yourself, no one's gonna, no one's coming. So, for me, that was one of the biggest things to find out in life and having to overcome, for sure.

Speaker 2:

Right, we're sorry about your loss for that. I know your dad's proud of you, that's for sure. How can our listeners learn more about wash and roll mobile detailing?
