Embarking on a new path often means confronting the trials we face head-on, something I've had to learn the hard way. As your host, Jenny Lytle RN, I'm shedding light on the silent battles we nurses fight within and highlighting the dire need for self-care in our community. This episode isn't just about sharing my personal journey of 30 years in nursing—it's an invitation to you, my fellow caregivers, to join in a conversation that's long overdue. We're creating a haven in the Nurses' Break Room, a future membership site born from the necessity to nurture our own health as diligently as we do for others. It's time to laugh, to vent, and possibly to confront those moments of breakdown or breakthrough together.

Let's peel back the curtain of vulnerability, as I step out of my comfort zone and into a space where transparency is our foundation. Through my voice and your stories, we'll foster a community where honesty isn't just welcomed, it's essential. From the echoes of late-night journaling epiphanies to the shared experiences that bind us, this podcast is more than just words—it's a movement toward healing our healers. So take a moment for yourself, tune in, and let's embark on a journey that promises to enrich our lives as much as those we care for.

Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome to the Nurses' Break Room with Jenny Lytle RN and I'm Jenny, and I had another podcast, becoming your Best, with Jenny Lytle RN and I've taken a bit of a pivot from that. So I have been a nurse for 30 years. This year and I decided that there is so much stress and pressure and frustration in nursing and I believe that a lot of that is really due to us not taking care of ourselves and as helpers, as caregivers, we focus a lot on other people and that ends up having an effect on us, and I've been passionate about that for quite some time. But it's been my own struggles over these past couple of months maybe a little more than that that really have brought this to the forefront for me, and so I really want to lean into this and kind of like with my other podcast. I decided last night that I was going to start this. Actually, it was early this morning when I was having some trouble sleeping and I thought you know what it's time, and so I invite you to come along with me on this journey.

Speaker 1:

I've had the plans for the nurses break room for quite some time to be not just a podcast but eventually to be a membership site where nurses are able to come together and be real and be honest and not just vent, not just laugh and have a good time, but figure out ways to really make a difference in our own lives.

Speaker 1:

And but there will be fun and there will be laughing and there will be venting, but the nurses break room, because in reality, most of us don't visit a break room and I realized when I was journaling this morning that not only is it, you know, a place to take a break and to come together with other people that get it, but it's also a place where maybe we have a breakdown or a breakthrough, and I've been kind of going through some of that myself, and so this is going to be therapeutic for me.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to be very transparent, very vulnerable, and I'm normally pretty, I'm pretty open and real anyway, but this is taking that to another level and it is definitely stepping outside of my comfort zone. But I also feel like it's exactly what I need to be doing right now. So I hope that you will come along this journey with me and I'd love to hear your stories too, and, you know, if anything I say resonates with you, I would just love to. I would love to hear that, because this is this is a bit of a challenge, a big step outside my comfort zone, but I think it's so, so, so important. So I will be back with you soon.
