2024 F1 Canadian GP - full analysis by Peter Windsor

Peter Windsor Season 1 Episode 27

Changeable weather conditions in both qualifying and the race combined to make this a Canadian GP to remember.   Mercedes' George Russell and McLaren-Mercedes' Lando Norris both looked strong in various stages of Saturday and Sunday  but in the closing moments of the race, on a dry track, in a Safety Car re-start, it was Red Bull-Honda's Max Verstappen who drove impeccably to win.  McLaren and Mercedes picked up the minor placings, with Sir Lewis Hamilton setting fastest race lap, but it was a mediocre day for Aston Martin and a deplorable weekend for Ferrari, who, with both cars, failed to make Q3  and finished short of the chequered flag on Sunday.  As Peter details in this podcast, there was also a sour note in the closing stages when Red Bull Racing, in order to try to avoid a Safety Car deployment, instructed their second driver, Sergio Perez, to drive slowly back to the pits after leaving the road and damaging his RB20.
