How Unresolved Emotions Hold You Back From Leading Gracefully With Kirsten Frey

Jennifer Reimer

Today’s conversation blew my mind. My guest, Kirsten Frey, is a life coach specializing in grief recovery, and our conversation brings to light our paradigms around grief. Most of the world thinks that grief is the emotion we feel when we’ve lost a loved one. But, I found out that grief is not reserved for death and divorce.

Many types of losses can cause grief, and we dig into a few of them. For example, you might feel grief even when you’ve moved from one home or city to another, or even changed positions at work, yet many people don’t make space for that emotion in themselves or for others.

Kirsten and I talk a little about how you can move through grief at work from losing a loved one or a relationship. But we spend most of our time uncovering all the implications of the second, lesser known, definition of grief, and why it can block people from changing their behaviour.

If you are trying to shift your behaviour to be a better leader, but something’s holding you back, it might be grief. Tune in to find out.
