What do you think of when you hear the word 'Siren'? A beautiful woman with shells in her hair and shimmering scales where her legs should be? A girl with a voice that lures sailors to their deaths down in the ocean deep? Like a lifelong game of telephone, the wires got crossed and the words were translated incorrectly. While the word 'siren' might bring mermaids and underwater magic to mind, the truth is a little darker then you might think. Join us as we attempt to untangle to truth, looking at where sirens originated, how they differ from mermaids and just what happened in history that tangled the threads. You may be surprised at what you learn. Just another lesson here that things are not always what they seem to be!
