In this episode, I share the magic of an unforgettable summer evening at the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra's performance. Along with my dear friend Jim and my wife Esra, we immersed ourselves in a musical extravaganza that left us in awe. The evening began under the masterful direction of Steven Mackey, whose wit and charm set the tone for the night.

The concert opened with Tom Morrison's 'Messages in the Ground,' a piece that enveloped the hall in its earthy tones, followed by Kory Reeder's 'Walls of Brocade Fields,' a musical depiction of intricate brocade patterns. The highlight for me was Sam Wu’s 'Hydrosphere,' an enchanting journey through musical waves that mirrored the ocean's depth and mystery.

We then experienced the emotive pull of Yangfan Xu’s 'Bya,' a composition that explored life's complexities. The evening culminated with Mackey’s own 'Curved Space Concerto,' specifically the 'Sphere' segment, a grand finale that took us on a celestial journey.

Throughout the night, the role of conductor Case Scaglione was pivotal. His magnetic presence and precise yet passionate direction were the driving force behind the concert's success, beautifully bridging the compositions and the orchestra.

Join me as I recount an evening that was not just a musical performance but a profound illustration of human expression and connection. This episode is a reflection on the transformative power of music, celebrating how it resonates with our emotions and narratives, leaving us in a state of awe and gratitude."
