Ep 23 - Avoiding Using Crutches
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
There are many tools at the disposal of an emergency telecommunicator: radios, GPS locations of units, computers to double-check the work, advanced phone systems. These are all good and useful and do have their place; but there is no substitute for the skill and experience of the operator behind the headset. Too often do these lifelines to the community doubt themselves and overuse the very tools which are meant to aid them, and end up only having crutches which stunt their development. In this episode, Erica discusses how to avoid the pitfall of becoming dependent on external tools.
