I am nothing without my struggles.
When it comes to having struggles in one's life, I think I rank highly. But now that I've embraced the life of a representative of Jesus, I'm darn proud of where I am and who I've become.
Biblical Perspective on Suffering
The Bible frequently talks about persecution and going through trials and tests. Without them, who would we be? Who would we become? In Romans 5:3-5, it stands this way:
“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. God's love, poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, does not shame us.
Personal Trials and Perseverance
As various things unfolded in my life, scriptures such as these provided me with the motivation to persevere. The more difficult the challenge I faced, the more I dug into the word of God. There were times where that's all I would do in order to keep my strength. For years, as I prepared for God's calling, I faced challenges without any support.
God used the hardships to help me depend on him and him alone. My hardships have put me in a position where God can use me to expand his kingdom. Fire testing is the only way to strengthen you. How can I be a soul deliverer for God without understanding what you're going through? I can't.
Experiencing Loss and Pain
Some examples of this include losing a spouse to death. I have personally experienced the loss of a wife to illness. I understand the pain of losing a child, having experienced it myself a year later. It's a loss that deeply impacts your soul, and inner healing is required for you to overcome the pain. I know what it means to be in a marriage where the two of you aren't in union. Where there's constant arguing and fighting, there's a power struggle going on in the home for control.
Facing Abuse and Disrespect
Please name any type of abuse to which I can relate. I have experienced mental, physical, and emotional abuse. I used to have mental scars to prove it, but I no longer do.
Dealing with Depression and Anger
What about depression? Sometimes, when things didn't go my way or I didn't receive the proper treatment in my relationships, I stayed in bed for days.
How about disrespect? The level of disrespect I've experienced in my life has been overwhelming since my childhood. People have always wanted to use me for what I could do for them, but they never showed me any respect in return. Are you experiencing a lack of love and seeking it in the wrong places? Yeah, I did that too. Because I hadn't gotten it growing up, I sought it in the women I pursued. That set me up for failure because I had the wrong viewpoint in my search, which led to more hurt and pain.
Overcoming Sickness and Disease
How about sickness and disease? I don't believe there's anyone who comes close to the level of infirmities and diseases that I've endured.
Unless God steps in and gives me many miracles, it's going to be a lengthy healing journey for me. Do you have anger issues? I also struggled with anger issues, but I no longer have them. I used to punch walls, lose my temper, hit others, and curse uncontrollably, but I've overcome all of that. I could provide countless examples of the challenges I've faced and overcome.
Spiritual Growth Through Hardships
But I learned early in my walk to embrace the words of James in chapter 1 verses 2 through 4, which read, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance." Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
I've come to terms with the fact that the suffering will only last a short while, and once it ends, I will have become more like God. Understanding and accepting the fundamental principles of spirituality will make your journey to your destination easier. Walking with the Lord is simple; we make it difficult by refusing to let go of the old you and the things that come with it.
I recognized that if I was having an issue, God ordained it, and it was going to work out for my good, regardless of how it looked at the moment. I have countless accounts to verify their authenticity. The enemy sent some terrible people into my life to destroy me, but in the end, they perfected me in his image, strengthened me, and allowed me to humble myself and become intimate with my God.
I think that pain was worth it in the end.
Conclusion: Embracing Hardships for Growth
If not for what I had to endure, I know that I would not have become the incredible person that I am today. Without my hardships, I would not have discovered the hidden talents and gifts within me, nor the potential for greatness I now see before me. There's so much more I could say, but my point is that without my hardships, I would be nothing.
May God increase your ability to endure whatever you are facing. In doing so, you'll step into God's favor. Be blessed, and count all the joy.

Let's invoke divine insight, as described in 2 Kings 6, 17, and pray for eyes to see beyond our circumstances. In Hosea 4 and 6, we're reminded of the dangers of spiritual ignorance, which can lead to our downfall.
Embrace this truth with an open heart, guided by the loving presence of the Holy Spirit. Stay encouraged, knowing that where there is great love, miracles abound. Remember, your prophet is here for you, ready to offer support and guidance every step of the way.
