Testimony Tuesday: I Allowed the Devil to Punk Me

Struggles in the Enemy's Camp

A few months after arriving in the enemy's camp, out of necessity, I began to wake up at 5 every morning. I say necessity because being in the enemy camp meant things would be difficult for me, and they were. One of my biggest challenges was finding quiet time and quiet time alone.

Challenges of Finding Quiet Time

I tried moving from one room to another, only to not be able to find peace and quiet consistently. Everywhere I ventured, I encountered people who either tricked me out of the area, lied to convince me to leave, or deceived me into leaving a particular spot. Even in the areas I was in, there were consistent interruptions and disturbances.

Distractions increased as I had to remain visible in public. Things like loud televisions, loud conversations, and various forms of idle chit-chat disturb me. Another problem arose when I had to share a room with my son. I love my son dearly, but the boy doesn't shut up. Once he's awake, he's talking for the next 12 hours nonstop.

Hiding in the room presented another challenge. I made the decision to wake up at 5 a.m. to spend time with God. That also became a problem.

Realization of Spiritual Attacks

This was the first time I realized the demonic spirits were targeting me. To this point, my experience, knowledge, and understanding of the enemy were limited. Despite engaging in demonic manifestations, I was incredibly ignorant and naive during those moments.

I strictly survived those moments under God's protection. I had not fully understood how to defend and protect myself in those situations. That's probably why they persisted; I hadn't learned how to respond appropriately.

Dealing with Distractions

As time went on, I noticed that whenever I stood up, my mother also did so.

I also made the mistake of talking too much and expressing that that was the time I would be up. Many mornings, God had me up between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., and I made the mistake of sharing that information. This resulted in my mother being awake at these times on many of those days, causing interference in my alone time.

I continued to operate in ignorance for an extended period, if I'm being honest. It took me a minute to formulate a proper response to the spiritual attacks I was enduring, but I hadn't seen it in that light. One day after these attacks persisted for some time, she approached me and told me a tale of deceit and manipulation to prevent me from entering the living room at night.

Again, operating in ignorance rather than in the spirit, I had not recognized at the time that it was a ploy to prevent me from spending the only quiet time I could get with God. After reflecting, as I often do, it dawned on me (and I began to think spiritually) that it was all a lie and manipulation. Soon after, I received confirmation that it was indeed a deception.

I said nothing, because that's what the enemy wants you to do. I adapted and found other workarounds, such as going for walks to pray or taking advantage of any vacant space in the house.

Turning Point and Adaptation

That moment marked a turning point in my life, illuminating not only that particular situation but also every situation I encountered.

Every move I made revealed its agenda, motives, and intentions to me. I then maneuvered accordingly. Sometimes I came out of the room, sometimes I was in the yard, sometimes on the porch, and sometimes I completely left the house. That became my go-to: getting up early in the morning and going to Dunkin Donuts to write and spend time with God.

This honestly worked pretty well for me. I was able to get a lot done away from the noise of the house. This time was different because I take my time with God seriously and find it challenging to find quality time with him.

Lessons Learned and Final Thoughts

In the end, I learned a valuable lesson, and I gained practical insight into the operations of the enemy. Understanding the methods of attack is crucial. Ignorance is your enemy; it will not save you from attacks. It will only allow them to continue deteriorating.

Knowing what to do when attacked is equally important. Not only had I not protected myself properly, I also did not fight back properly. I don't mean verbally or physically; I mean spiritually. Fire taught me these two crucial lessons, and they frequently serve as our means of advancing in spiritual matters.

Yes, I suffered a setback, but as usual, God used it for my benefit. You should never become discouraged when things go against you. Open your spiritual eyes and look for the cause from that perspective, and, I assure you, you'll be able to deal with it better in the natural world. If you truly believe it, things will always work out for your benefit. Receive this in truth and love.
