The Gospels E4 - The Book of Matthew (Part 2)
On today's episode, Jana and Reata continue their discussion on their favorite takeaways from the book of Matthew. Jana shares her second favorite takeaway, Matthew 22:36-40 (The Greatest Commandment). During their discussion on this topic, Jana shares an excerpt from her marriage devotional bible, as well as explaining how she strives to apply this commandment in her marriage. Additionally, they exchange thoughts regarding the term "neighbor", communicating expectations with spouses and other loved ones, and serving others instead of solely focusing on their own needs/expectations.
Reata shares her favorite honorable mentions from the Book of Matthew including Sermon on the Mount and how the religious and prideful were the ones who rejected Jesus. Jana also shares how the idea of discipline has been a central theme for her since studying for the podcast this year.
Lastly, Jana shares her honorable mention, Matthew 7:1-2, and how she continues to work on not being so quick to judge others, which leads into a conversation about being mindful of your thoughts and how they ultimately shape your life view and the way you treat and receive others.

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Matthew 7:1-2 NIV
7 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
