Sasha Barrie

MacLane Wilkison is the co-founder and CEO of NuCypher and a contributor to Threshold Network.

We talk about his journey as a founder: from MacLane’s early days as an investment banker at Morgan Stanley to his introduction to blockchain and meeting his co-founder at an early crypto meetup to the birth of NuCypher.

We talk about how Maclane’s vision of privacy as a fundamental right became the foundation of his company’s ethos. How privacy overlaps with decentralization and self-sovereignty. MacLane’s early fascination with decentralized technology, which, once launched, can have an autonomous existence. We talk about what it was like to start a crypto business in 2015. Maclane reflects on the lessons learned from early experiments and the evolution of the company through the crypto winters. We talk about the state of privacy in web2 and the role that web3 can play to improve things.

We talk about the birth of Threshold Network as a result of one of the first DAO mergers that was initiated and executed by the two autonomous communities.
