What You Need To Know- Cervical Cancer & Fibroids FT. Dr. Simone Whitmore

Rae

Realizing the urgent need for more education about reproductive health, especially for black women, I stress the importance of being informed and proactive in medical situations.

Together with Dr. Simone Whitmore, a familiar face from "Married to Medicine," on BRAVO; we get into the prevalent discussions about fibroids in my social circles and the tragic misdiagnosis that led to Jessica Pettway's death from cervical cancer.

Addressing the dismissive treatment often faced by black women in medical settings, we discuss strategies for effective self-advocacy, drawing from personal experiences.

Dr. Simone clarifies the distinctions between fibroids and cervical cancer, emphasizing the importance of accurate diagnosis and symptom recognition and provides insights into detection and prevention methods. We examine factors like vitamin D deficiency, genetics, and hair product chemicals in these conditions' prevalence, aiming to empower listeners with knowledge and proactive measures.

At the end, we discuss the HPV vaccine, role-playing a conversation about its importance between a mother and daughter, and explore its accessibility for those who have not yet received it.

Again, not too much on my audio
