Nick Gaylord

What if your most painful experiences could become your greatest source of strength and connection? Join me, Nick Gaylord, on the premiere episode of the "Our Dead Dads" podcast as we explore the uncharted territories of grief, trauma, and loss with both humor and raw emotion. Inspired by daily text exchanges with my three younger brothers and three close friends who have also lost their fathers, this episode sets the stage for candid conversations that are both deeply personal and universally relatable. We unravel the complexities of father-son relationships and the lingering issues that arise after a parent's passing, offering insights and a sense of community to anyone navigating grief.

In this episode, I open up about my own tumultuous relationship with my father, revealing the emotional highs and lows that defined our 45-year journey together. From his five marriages, to facing his anger during critical moments like my Eagle Scout Court of Honor, my story is a testament to the profound impact a father's actions can have on his children. As I recount my father's career instability, manipulative behavior, and the difficult end-of-life decisions that tested our family bonds, we shed light on the long road to healing and the importance of processing grief at one's own pace.

With this podcast, I aim to create a safe space where feelings are validated and shared openly. Inspired by Kristina Driscoll of the "She's Brave Podcast", I overcame initial challenges and insecurities to build a platform dedicated to helping others manage their grief. Future episodes will feature more personal stories as we continue to explore the labyrinth of loss together. Thank you for tuning in, and I invite you to join us as we change lives, one story at a time.
