Shared Histories
Cultural and historical accounts told by senior adults whose ages span 70 yrs to 99 yrs. Topics cover the Workhouse, The Titanic, King Jerry king of the MODs and Motown DJ, 1966 World cup journalism, Dresden survival and pre GDPR society where one child, now 90, received the wrong age and surname from his orphanage and ended joining the forces at 15. Shared Histories aims to address stereotypical ideas that can be held about older people. When thinking of a senior care home or passing a senior after listening to this podcast, we hope that instead of asking google - you will speak to someone who was actually there.

Preview of the Shared Histories podcast - history, culture and humour.
This five minute episode introduces some of the seniors who have shared their life stories with Shared Histories. Their accounts take us into a war torn territory, on board ships, to the workhouse, into the secrets of Lins lunch box and a night out with Kool and the Gang. We start in 1945 and move back and forth as far as 1912.
The full length Episode One will be released on 20th March 2024 and will be launched a the The Jubilee in Brighton. This podcast has been made by a grant from the Centre for Better Ageing #SeeAndBeSeen.
