Inspiring Entrepreneurs Episode 2: Business Entities with VT Law & Graduate School
In the second episode of "Inspiring Entrepreneurs: The Live Show & Podcast," we meet Nicole Killoran, Director of the Vermont Small Business Law Center at Vermont Law and Graduate School. This series introduces small business owners to the people behind organizations and agencies and learn about their services so that you are not by yourself as you work for yourself.
In this episode, Nicole Killoran discusses the role and services provided by the Vermont Small Business Law Center, which aims to make legal resources accessible to small business owners. The center offers educational presentations, legal consultations, and a referral system to connect business owners with local attorneys with up to 10 hours of free or low-cost legal advice.
We focused our conversation on business entities or, as we explain, structures that exist independently of their owners, providing legal protections and tax benefits:
· Types of entities (LLC, corporations, and sole-proprietorship)
· Advantages of entity structures such as liability protection, flexible management structures, and pass-through taxation
· How these structures lead to better business management and compliance
