Building a brand around your podcast that makes people feel seen, heard, and that they identify with is important. People want to be a part of the community you are creating. It makes them feel connected. When people feel connected, they feel like they have found their tribe. This is part 2 of our interview with Caila Litman. Click here to listen to part 1.

Advice from Caila about creating a lifestyle brand:

  • Start with “Do what inspires you, energizes you, lights you up
  • Everyone is looking for new ways to be discovered by the individual- word of mouth is the number one way to grow- word of mouth can create a ground swell discoverability
  • Publish to youtube- Youtube has great discoverability
  • Podcast listeners more open, curiosity based, less worried about how perceived by the world
  • Desire for community is high among podcast listeners- It is a passive form of engagement to be a member of the podcast community so it is very appealing.
  • Overlap of community and advertising/sponsorships- storytelling ad reads (like listening from a friend- recommendations are remembered easier than random ads)
  • Big audience does not mean quality audience
