We are ALL susceptible to this.

And, we can either make it an excuse or example

Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every day of the week!  This is message #84 and I am Aaron Havens.

If you’re super observant, and I know a few of you daily callers might have picked up on the fact that yesterday I said it was message #84.  In fact today is the real #84!

Yep.  Once again I made a mistake.

Will the real 84 please stand up, please stand up, please stand up!

We are all susceptible to making a mistake.  The question is, will your mistake either be a convenient excuse to quit and stop trying, OR will the mistake be an example of how and what you can improve upon next go around.  I’m really glad I haven’t let my minor mistakes, or made up words, or improper facts or technical issues derail the Growth Instigator Hotline.

83, 84, 85… whatever, it’s more than 1!!!

One call at a time.  One topic at a time.  One day at a time.

The fact is.  Had I not started these messages 84 days ago, I would still be here AND you would still be here, however, because I’m working my success plan AND because you find some value in calling in so frequently… we are both here, with 84 days of this thing happening.

I’m getting really good at speaking for 3 minutes.  So if any of you are looking for a 3 minute communicator at your next company gathering… I’m your man!  Haha.

Frequency.  Consistency.  Repetition.  Muscle memory.  Habits.  Success plan… whatever you want to label it, what you value can be found in what you keep doing.  So, reverse that to a question… will your future self thank you for the areas you find yourself repeating?  If you logically play out the thing you are resolute on, do you like the person you have become?

If so, you’re on to something.  Get so focused on it that minor and major set backs are seen as examples of how to go about it differently next time.

If not, can you put that down and find something else to put on repeat that is more in line with who you want to be in 83, 84, 85, 86, 191 days from now?

And as the motivational and inspirational Zig Ziglar has said "Repetition is the mother of learning, the father of action, which makes it the architect of accomplishment”

Undoubtedly you are a prolific and brilliant individual.  Will you let a little fumble or set back cause you to quit?  NOPE!  No way!  Not on my watch.  Not today!  Go for it.  Kill it.  Set to it.  Don’t stop.

Thanks for calling in today.  Tune in tomorrow for a fresh new topic.  At the sound of the beep: What are one or two questions you can ask yourself in middle of a set back that will cause you to pause and reflect on if this is worth doubling down on, or the perfect time to set it down and pivot?
