My parents either saw greatness in me or…

Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every day of the week!  This is message #101 and I am Aaron Havens.

So they either saw greatness in me and encouraged me to start running 10k’s in third grade, or… I had way too much energy and they had to somehow convince me to burn off some of it.  Hey Aaron, you should go run 6.2 miles.  Haha.

Whatever the reason, at a young age, I enjoyed running.

I think it was during these miles long runs I developed a patient endurance of some sort.  Miles don’t seem to fly by when you have a side ache or you’re out of breathe or really… you just don’t feel like running.  One foot in front of the other, one step at a time.  Patience.  Endurance.  I couldn’t do anything to speed up the process while in middle of the race.  I just had to keep my pace, not get overwhelmed with the seemingly unending road I could see in front of me and NOT QUIT.

My friends.  Don’t quit.  Don’t stop.  The road seems long.  You’re in the middle of the journey, or maybe you’re just about to start, or you’re nearing the end.  Finish strong.  Finish well.  Dig deep for the patience needed to stay focused and determined.  You patience and diligence will lead to endurance that will serve you the rest of your life!

Whatever reason you want to quit… Pain.  Frustration.  Bored. Fear.  Failure.  Tired.  Perfectionism.  Lack of resources.  Confidence.  Whatever reason.  Don’t do it.  Not today.  Today is the day to determine you will develop Patient Endurance as you push back resistance and keep at it.  What you’re doing is worth it.  As as Nelson Mandela has said “it always seems impossible until it’s done.”  My friends, determine to stay with it until it’s done!

Thanks for calling in today.  Tune in tomorrow for a fresh new topic!
After the beep:

  1. Are you in middle of something daunting and overwhelming now?
  2. What are some reasons to quit?
  3. What will it take to keep at it as you develop Patient Endurance?
